The Water Magician: How Innocence Evaporates When Magic Meets Consequence
A water mage asks for a quiet second chance and ends up inventing acid rain. That’s the kind of left turn that makes The Water Magician’s first season worth talking about, and we go deep on why it works. We start with the promise of an “easy life,” then follow Ryo into a wilderness where only one in five can cast and every spell has weight. The art plays soft when it wants to breathe and sharp when it needs to show force; those fluid water-and-ice sequences aren’t just pretty, they’re legible tactics.
We unpack how the show scales power without cheap shortcuts. Abel isn’t a prop—he’s a respected knight whose reputation quietly frames Rio’s ceiling. Leonore’s duel is the pivot: wind and fire dancing until Ryo pulls moisture from the air and ends it with a brutal, ingenious finish. From there, the tone darkens. The first kill lands hard. Politics leak in through dungeon crises, broken shrines, and guardian beasts running on fumes. We dig into the Earth Mother lore, the cracked crystals, and the implications that other isekai travelers left fingerprints behind—curry, centimeters, and all.
The festival arc introduces Oscar, the Inferno Magician, and a rivalry that feels more volatile than friendly. We debate his backstory, spotlight the choreography and scaling of the Ryo vs. Oscar clash, and talk about the moment Rio says “for a human,” hinting at a shifting identity after twenty years of survival and study. Sarah’s spar cuts through the power fantasy, exposing the gaps in Ryo’s sword form and reminding us he’s still a mage who engineers solutions. No fan service required—just stakes, craft, and characters with edges.
We close with honest critiques: too many faces, a few rushed transitions, and a lot of Chekhov’s guns waiting to fire. But the core holds. If season two cashes in on Akuma ethics, Fairy King mysteries, and the broken-shrine crisis, this can move from promising to essential. Enjoy the breakdown, then tell us: should Ryo protect his calm or embrace the storm? Subscribe, share with a friend who loves smart fantasy, and leave a review to help more listeners find the show.

What up, gang? Let's talk about the water magician. That just concluded his season run, and I gotta say, it's fairly impressive. And we're gonna go ahead and dive into that. But um, first things first, I do thank Kogie Gasu and Professor Tupper joining me for this one because honestly, I thought it was gonna be part of anime lightning in January. But since they say they watched it and they're interested, I'm like, hey, might as well make a full review out of it. So let's go ahead and zoom right into it. So we got our main protagonist, Rio Amihara. He got reincarnated, dreaming of peace, but instead he lands into a monster-infected wilderness. And with water magic and eternal youth, he survives countless wicked concoction for 20 years, becoming one of the most powerful magicians ever. Rio's fate shifts at when he meets Abel, a genius knight, thrusting him into Magical Society's spotlight. Thus, the water magician's wall adventure begins. Alright, first thing first. Good opening, ending, and opening theme songs both have a soft and relaxing tone. The artwork swings between being fairly good to surprisingly detailed, you know, with the uh spell cast and the uh way they animate the water and uh fire and whatnot. I like that. I like this. And the story gets right to the point from Rio getting incarnated by the angel Michael to the pacing of the fly. Not too fast, but not too slow. It's the right amount of exposition without too much work style, or at least for most of the episodes. Like I think they kind of dump most of the exposition in the later half, like the last leg for me. And in this world of five, only 20% of its population can cast spells, which supposedly adds a way of realism to the story. Now, before we get into all this, uh let's go ahead and start it off with Kokugasu. What's your impression on the Warden Gist?
SPEAKER_00:I actually really enjoyed this show. Um, a lot more than I thought was gonna be. See, I I thought you was gonna probably do anime lightning with it as well, too. Then you had told me to go ahead and start watching it. And I was like, all right, yeah, I'll start it. We see we can figure it out.
SPEAKER_06:Because um, you know, people was waiting for it. The magic thing, like I figured it'd be right up your alley, like see how you like it.
SPEAKER_00:Plus, a lot of people were saying that they really enjoyed it, that it was like, oh, this is so good. It's one it's gonna be one of the best anime. And I'm like, oh, okay. So people hyping it up, and I'm like, I mean, only a few people said that, and then like the hype died down rather quickly. So I was like, okay. Well, I mean, people still said it was good, so I was like, you know what? Let's go ahead and check it out. And I will say, yeah, like you mentioned the pacing, it was pretty straight. To me, by the time I started watching this, I had already did what four of the most recent solo reviews, and I all every single one of them is an isekai. I am isaked out, bro. I'm sorry, I'm so isakai out. So this would got to the point. It wasn't one of those ones where it starts off like, oh, they were living their life, and then it got isaked. No, it went straight to the point of, so you died, I know, instantly flashes back to Truck Coon. And I'm like, of course, you gotta give Truck Coon props. Him doing his job like he's supposed to. Um, and he's like, Yeah, I do remember that. And then what gets me is the fact of how they did this one. This isn't one of those ones of you got summoned to another world, you just got accidentally dropped. He asked him, he says, Oh, I look at your file, and there's no hero summons for you, there's no thing that you have to do or nothing like that. I'm just told to um reincarnate you in another world. And um, so what would you like? I'm sitting here like that would be very interesting. That's like that's that's what kind of hooked me for a moment because unlike all these other ones where you're forcibly thrown into these things, this is one where it's like you got to choose like a video game.
SPEAKER_06:I think of like another anime that I just recently watched where it had that other option to it. Oh, he oh, in fact, I think it was um the Intergalactic Evil Empire uh anime that did for anime lightning to where he could have the main character Liam, he could have been in any world, but he chose the world where magic and meta exist. Yeah, that's the one.
SPEAKER_00:Ah, that's what's up. So yeah, I was like, okay, that's interesting. He got to choose. That already hooked me for one. So I was curious how things are gonna go. He says, I'm gonna go with the easy life. And at that moment, instantly started getting free revives. And I'm like, okay, it's starting to feel like free arena a little bit, like it kind of relaxed, kind of chill. You know, maybe it's gonna have some really good action moments, but otherwise, this is gonna be a very simple story about this kid living a humble life, just kind of chilling out, you know, and then like you know, give him getting the moment to talk to the dragon. That was interesting. I saw that little clip on YouTube a while back, and it was like, yeah, he's like, oh man, I I really enjoyed our discussion. It's like okay, and we'll dive further into it, but otherwise, I like how the other thing about it is that I got a lot of vibes from Stranger La Frontier in the fact that with his robe, everywhere he goes, certain people recognize his robe, and he's like, Oh, the fairy king must have really liked you.
SPEAKER_06:With that, uh huh. Yeah, that's it on though, right?
SPEAKER_00:He did. That was a that was a nice fit. I ain't gonna lie to you. It's heavily is actually heavily based on Indian in India. There's actually a um not a wedding guard, but it's a high noble guard. Um, like a high, like if you're a high-ranking official with a lot of money to it, a lot of money to you. But when he takes off the top robe, you can see the how he wears the sash. It's actually based onto that. So that's one little tidbit that I thought was pretty interesting. I was like, oh, okay, that's actually from India. That's actually really cool.
SPEAKER_01:So I wonder what the Fairy King drip talking about. If his drip is good.
SPEAKER_00:I mean, the Fairy King was wearing armor the whole time, so I don't know. So it's a good part of the thing. I mean, they give me some drippy ass armor. This is true. This is true, but we never even see his face. The fairy king is who we saw with the smoke coming out his face, coming out the um the armor and stuff, because fairies are so high, supposedly so high magic or something that you could like almost nobody can see them type of thing. I don't know. I haven't had a chance to dive as much into the manga. I really I started reading the manga right after I finished because I wanted to see what happened next.
SPEAKER_01:But we started as a light novel that I converted into a manga, and then of course an anime, and the light novel. Uh well, the anime covers the light novel art one. So there's still like six arcs left.
SPEAKER_00:Okay, okay. So yeah, I'm pretty yeah. Oh, believe me, I when I started that, I was like, oh, I got some reading. That's what's up. I ain't gotta feel like I'm rushing or nothing like that. But yeah, the rest of it we'll dive further into once we get into it. But as far as the generalization, I like the how things went with it. You know, he knows that he's powerful, like at first he didn't think that he was that powerful. It was funny with the incantation situation. He couldn't get an incantation right because he didn't need one, but it was just like, oh, he kept like saying something random. And able caught that quick. He was like, I thought you said the incantation was supposed to be this, and he's like, What? No, no, you misunderstood. Abel caught that quick. It means like you can you can cast without saying incantation. I like that we have intelligent main characters, it's always a good thing to me.
SPEAKER_01:Kinda right now, all right.
SPEAKER_06:I'm gonna talk about real in detail, but uh, real quick, uh real quick, what's your impression of War of Magician? We didn't get your impression just yet.
SPEAKER_01:So I'm not isekai out yet. I still love them. I I think it's just a joke.
SPEAKER_06:Yeah, it's almost like I'm just not in the mood for jump shit, okay?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. It's just like uh Maple, my def I use all my powers, defense, and like stuff like that. That kind of isekai is what I don't like. I don't like the dumbass long title anime.
SPEAKER_06:Like it's uh, I mean if you can join it, all right, fine, cool. Like uh Kono Suba, for instance. Like, okay, yeah, like bro, I can't wait to talk about that one.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, that's funny though, you know? Yeah, and I like it, like some kind of sauce high. It ain't no like crashy slop. Now I love fan service. Now I do, but I feel like it's a time for fan service, and I like that it didn't participate in that. Um, and I also like the friendship between Rio and Abel. That's dope.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_06:Hold on, hold on, hold on. Okay, first of all, I must say the closest thing to fan service that we got was when uh Leonor got introduced, where it's like that soul tree wall, you know, that establishes where it's almost like uh kind of wanna emphasize uh her critique and whatnot. I'm like, okay, fine. Uh that was like the closest thing to fan service. And like he's now that you pointed out, so I do appreciate that where they didn't have to rely on fan service to keep the people engaged. Like it was really the fight. Like the fights, uh, it was like surprisingly good. And when you talked about Rio and Abel, I like how even though Rio hasn't been fucking with Abel for very long, Rio just be talking to Abel like they've been friends for like years, talking about, oh Able, this ain't like you.
SPEAKER_05:I'm like, that didn't just meet this man like a few days ago. We talking about, oh, this ain't like you, Abel. Like, I thought you would be better than that, Able. I'm like, bro, why you talking like you know this man?
SPEAKER_01:There used to be in a couple, so you know, they walked the desert together.
SPEAKER_06:Oh, yeah, all that time. Oh, traveling, oh yeah, I know you better than you know yourself, Able.
SPEAKER_01:Don't let Able get a girlfriend, it's always yeah, but I mean, overall, it was a great. Um, it was great. I'm about to say art from thinking about the light novel. It was a great season. Um, I I do think they need to flesh out some of the other characters though. Yes, okay. They're doing a good job with Able.
SPEAKER_06:So so that is my only nitpick about this whole season to where y'all throwing a whole lot of characters at me, and you're expecting me to give a damn about every single one. But I'm like, I'm sorry, but there's only like I only got a I'm only in the mood to keep track of at least a handful.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, and I know we're gonna get into it later, but uh let's just say the princess died. The prince and the princess died. Oh well, I just met him.
SPEAKER_00:This is true. This is true. Right. The only ones I really would care about would be like Phelps and um I forgot old girl's name, the one that's with them, the high nose.
SPEAKER_02:Oh Shenna.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, Shennah. Those are the only ones that I would care about because you know, because we did come up a little suspicious when uh Shennah uh incinerates those night.
SPEAKER_06:That's what I mean. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00:We appreciate it, but it was like it can't, yeah, it came unexpected because by this by this time, everything else is like you even if there's tension, things have been handled somewhat peacefully, type of thing. No one has like died yet. Then all of a sudden, boom, she incinerates the night's first death, and you're like, yo, wait, whoa. And it's not like a simple death, it's straight up violent, and you're like, Oh, oh, this anime rolling like that now? Wait a second, and then like after that moment, it starts getting bloody. That's when you start seeing like dismemberment, heads rolling and stuff like that, is right after this moment. So I was like, that was really interesting. Pacing that they did that. I was like, Whoa, okay. But it got me interested. I'm like, but it's Phelps hiding. This dude sitting here, like, y'all just straight up marking people like it ain't nothing. But then at the same time, that's the guards' fault. The guards could have stayed alive and they left them alone.
SPEAKER_06:Yeah, no, no, no. It's more like um what happened was the guards were harassing this girl, like, hey, come have fun with us. And then I guess like her brother or friend was like, hey, stop it, Yammero, that type of shit. And then Phelps showed up. Well, Rio was watching, he was kind of helping, you know, but the ice managed like tripping up one of the guards, but um, Phelps was like doing most of it, like trying to intimidate the um knight to run away and whatnot. So really Phelps was just trying to help. But then the knights were like, Oh, hey man, we didn't like the way you embarrassed us on that last time, so we're gonna get you a now. But then that's when Shinna like incinerated themselves like, yeah. So I mean, to be fair, those knights uh did it to themselves. Like, all they had to do is leave those people alone.
SPEAKER_00:Exactly. As you left them alone, he would still be alive, wouldn't have to worry about nothing. Nothing.
SPEAKER_06:But uh, I know we kind of like skipped ahead a little bit because I was gonna talk about Phelps a little bit. I was gonna talk about that particular moment, but uh let's start with episode one, and I'm gonna talk about uh Rio Why Matter because like I'm gonna with these uh episodes, like I'm gonna do something a little bit different because first of all, I need to go back to my roots where I like to analyze the characters more than anything because I feel like without the characters, there's no story. So I like to notice the characters. So that's why I'm also saying that I don't want to keep up with too many characters that I'm probably not gonna be too invested in anyway. So um I'm gonna talk about some of the episodes and I might um do my impression on some of the characters that's notable. But let me go ahead and uh start with episode one. The first episode played out like an RKG game, you know, like you said with uh Shango Lots Frontier. I felt that. I'm like, yeah, it kind of felt like a video game a little bit where we watch the main character venture from his home with barely any clothing. He's fighting monsters, he's obtaining this rare sword from a dull hand, and he's mastering his magic as he goes. Uh Rio, uh bro, I listen. Rio is the kind of guy that wants to slow and ease life out of the out in the boonies, but of course, external factors forces him to get involved with the plot. He's not overpowered right away. He does have to learn how to use and experiment with his magical ability and to study what he'll be going up against during his journey, making him a realistic protagonist of all of them. He's not limited to casting warden spells, but he trained himself to cast ice spells as well. He implements this strategic approach to his battles rather than with brute force and blind optimism. He gains the sword of the fairy king from Dolehan, which can be enchanted with warden ice magic. He also gets the drip from Dolehan before he finally leaves his um little home. And I gotta say, I like Rio, but the second half, like he really got me in the second half to where, like, this dude, he got, I won't say he was cocky because if he's like real, it's it's kind of like uh Kevin Samuels on French and PTM set one time to where it's not cocky if you know what you're doing. It's called confidence. See, to I'll make inside joke, but see, to that's confidence. Uh that's confidence right there. Oh, he does come off confident to a point to where, okay, you kind of flex a little bit, like you know, he kind of condescending, it's more likely, because he was like being condescending towards the demon prince and to Oscar, which by the way, I'm gonna get there when I get there, but bro, when y'all were talking about his fight with Oscar, and I'm like, hey, I I kinda see what y'all are talking about now. But um, episode two, uh, excuse me while I tried to jump to my um nose, but uh after this, I'm gonna turn over to the um the rest of the panel. Uh Rio comes across Abel, who crash went onto shore with a destroyed boat. There were some smugglers on boat, but they all died. Uh, after helping him, Rio benches outside the forest with the young knight with the new clothes from Dolehan, and Rio defeats some uh go alongs with giant ice cubes. Then the duo kills some wipers. Now, with Abel, Abel was okay. Like he's friendly with Rio, and his knowledge of the outside world helps with Rio being uninformed of things such as money. Uh, I guess you could say that Abel's the sensible one in contrast to Rio being considered an oddball at certain angles. Like he's rather popular at home to a point where the gill and the town folk would have a bit if Abel actually died during that shipwreck. But uh, turn it over to you, uh, how are you feeling about those first two episodes?
SPEAKER_00:I appreciate this opportunity. So uh I want to talk about a little bit more of Abel because there is a thing about how they how so in most anime well, most TV shows, how they do things is how they would showcase how powerful the protagonist actually is. One of the ways that sometimes they do it is involving the protagonist goes to the school, goes somewhere, and then all of a sudden showcases that he's more powerful than everyone else, type of thing. But it's interesting how they did it with using Abel because, like you mentioned, Abel seemed alright, and that was a very key point in the show because Abel is more than alright, Abel is extremely powerful in that town, not just in that town, the Crimson Knights is well known for their thing. He is the leader of the Crimson Knights, and during their whole travels, Abel is shown so much weaker than Rio that you're just like, oh, it's just a simple escort mission. So then imagine that type of escort mission. You show up, the person you escorted is supposed to be extremely powerful after you've gone through all of this saving him per se. Remember, Rio never even, I mean, not Rio, Abel never knew Ryo he fought with the sword. He was on a side, yeah.
SPEAKER_06:Like I like how he yeah, he assumed that uh oh, you're a magician, to be wielding a stab, and then Rio's like, no, like I didn't need a stab before, and I kind of like the sword on God, so I'm I'm good.
SPEAKER_00:Exactly. So that's one of the things is like that's a very interesting pacing that they chose into this because we assume Rio was probably like maybe a knight in training or something like that, or you know, he was on a mission, but he's not that powerful. So for him to show up and we show up to the town and find out that he's one of the most powerful there, you're like, yo, wait, how strong is Rio?
SPEAKER_06:Right.
SPEAKER_00:Like that was a very interesting way to do things.
SPEAKER_06:See, the the funny thing is, I like how with Rio, he that's why I said that he's not overpowered right away. It's like he has great potential, but it's not to a point where he's doing so well that it's just ridiculous how powerful he really is right out of the gate. It's like, okay, he definitely like he's coming up with his own uh spells and whatnot. So it's like he's built different, but at the same time, oh bro, oh man, I I can't wait to talk about episode four, but uh yeah, like he doesn't seem overpowered right out of the gauge, it's more like he definitely have like strong potential to um stand out even beyond um some of the veteran adventurers.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah. Now, the only thing closing out because I don't have much for the first two episodes per se, um, aside from what I've already explained in my normal opening, the only other thing that I really found very interesting is like the fairy king himself. This is one of those ones where I'm like, I feel like this uh this mangaka played a lot of Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. Because I kept getting a whole lot of vibes from like the old warrior. Yeah, y'all get that.
SPEAKER_06:Yeah, no, that's what I'm saying. Like, it just felt like some sort of RPG. It's like, bro, it feels like a video game to some degree.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, that's what it felt like with the Fairy King, especially considering the fact that like every single time that he would fight him, or he would get um, he would get not only get stronger and get special skills, but he would also get like an upgrade, whether he got an art he got the armor, he got the special sword. And that was the same thing that you would get from fighting the old knight. He'd throw you special skills.
SPEAKER_06:Here, take this.
SPEAKER_00:Exactly. So I was like, this got a lot of strong Legend of Zelda vibes. I'm like, I think I really might like this anime. I'm like, you know, I'm I'm gonna keep watching. And I was very heartbroken that after the second episode, you don't see the very king.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00:It's like darn. I looked it up too because I was curious. I'm like, do we get to see him again? Apparently, no. Yeah, aside from constantly being mentioned by several people because he's gonna get mentioned again multiple times later, you don't see him no more. Hurt my feelings. Yeah, that's all I got.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, all right, bet. Uh do you have any impressions on the first two episodes? Anything you want to add on? No.
SPEAKER_06:No, I I can hear you now.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I can hear you now.
SPEAKER_06:The issue is Yeah, no, I can hear you.
SPEAKER_01:The issue is I can barely hear you.
SPEAKER_06:Oh, uh, hold on. Uh I excluded my mic back. How about now?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, that's better.
SPEAKER_06:Okay.
SPEAKER_01:All right. Um, yeah, on I had a main issue on the uh fairy king as well. I really want them to fight. So I I need them to like flesh out the fairy king some more. I'm hoping he comes back in a future arc. I need to look, you said you looked it up, he'll never come back.
SPEAKER_00:From what we've seen so far, he doesn't come back, he just keeps getting mentioned, and that's it. Man, I remember getting stronger and then they fight again. I want I wanted to see Rio go to the fairy king because Leonora wound up mentioning him. Right. You know, he keeps getting mentioned. I'm like, after that fight, but that's a little bit later on.
SPEAKER_01:Rio fighting um the fairy king would be a nice callback if they fight again. In addition to that, it's like him fighting Lord Einste from Overlord. It's like an overwhelming power, but he also wants to teach you, like, you know what I mean? Right. So, I mean, this is dope. The first two episodes, of course, um, it's just getting to know the character, seeing what their motivation is like, and getting to know what his will is. So it's a good first few episodes.
SPEAKER_06:All right, let's keep it moving with episode three. The duo arrives to at Abel's hometown loom, and while people are chatting with Abel, uh, Rio encounters uh the one elf uh that his new campaign alluded to, who immediately knows that he has the fairy king sword and clothing. Rio wants to venture into the dungeon, but he had to register with the guild and take on an introductory course with a few more newbies. Now, let's go ahead and talk about some of the other characters. Like, there's Amon, he's a 16-year-old boy who joined the guild after his parents died. Uh Nils and Eto are adventures that. Uh Lynn, Warren, and Rhea, they're members of Abel's Crimson Tour Party. Uh Lynn is a magician that's the main nuance based on how Rhea is able to do all the feats that not even the best of the best can manage. Warren is the quiet fighter type, and Rhea is the priestess type, you know, the healer, I wanted to say. Uh, we got Hugh, the guildmaster, uh, Phelps, uh nobleman of Loon, who leads the White Brigade. Uh, Shenna, who's underneath him as a firecaster. Sarah is the blonde elf chip that Rio encountered. She explains that elves are half fairies, sort of. Which explains why she's familiar with Rio's clothing and sword. She's very friendly with him, considering him important to her. She even gets a little jealous of how casual Rio is to Abel, but formal to her. A capable swordsman, too. And um, not gonna lie, I was like thinking like, uh just a theory, like I feel like uh Mira Jane right now. Like, I got an anime theory for y'all. Y'all think, I mean, unless it's already happened to like novels or manga, do y'all think Rio and Zara are gonna hook up at some point?
SPEAKER_00:I give no spoilers, I did look this up, so I'm gonna leave it at that. Okay.
SPEAKER_01:Um, she already crazy in love, so she couldn't wait a few days for him.
SPEAKER_00:That boy was going to hold it. You know how hard it is. She bro, she lived for thousands of years. My wife had to go on this business trip one time and was gone for several days. Okay, then was the hardest every day. That bed was empty, it felt so empty. I fully without you.
SPEAKER_01:That's understandable. When you human, when you an elf, time is did we not rock freemen? Didn't we not watch?
SPEAKER_06:Like um, she didn't say that she was 200 years old, and meanwhile, Rio had eternal youth, so he might age lower than the average human. So it I hey it can work.
SPEAKER_01:I'm gonna look it up right at work.
SPEAKER_00:Eternal youth is actually kind of the key phrase into that one. It's not just immortality, it's yeah, he's not gonna look older than he is right now. How he looks is how he will stay looking.
SPEAKER_01:It's eternal youth, though, not immortality.
SPEAKER_00:It's like the worst vampire trait to have. It reminded me of that true true blood episode when um I forgot the old girl's name, but the girl who was turned that was a virgin, and she was so frustrated because she's like every single time it just heals back.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, yeah, I forgot about that. Oh I forgot about that.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, this is like that. Is he he's not gonna look any older. That thing stay tight though.
SPEAKER_06:But nah, that the funny thing about it is that uh the whole time I was thinking that he has eternal youth. I'm thinking, well, at least there is a canonical reason uh why Rio is gonna stay as young as he looks, uh, unlike Ash from um Pokemon to where like for some reason he's always 10 years old.
SPEAKER_00:No, that's not we're not gonna go into that one because they've made an actual confirmation that apparently Ash traveling all that time all took place within only two years.
SPEAKER_01:But no, like many can't walk that for the one.
SPEAKER_00:Hold on. The only reason all the seasons changed like that was because of the Pokemon.
SPEAKER_06:I don't know.
SPEAKER_01:Two years and Professor Oak is daddy.
SPEAKER_05:Oh my god. I'm on that theory.
SPEAKER_06:I'm on that theory. Back to these shows. Save that for the Pokemon interview. Yeah, you are around doing that again.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, you're right.
SPEAKER_06:Alright, uh, where was I oh yeah, I was talking about some of the characters. Uh let's go ahead and into episode four. Oh, let's go ahead and talk about episode four. So, Rio and Amon uh defeat a soldier and in the dungeon underneath loon and finishes their introductory course. It was afterwards that Rio fights an Akuma or Demon uh woman uh with series and literal firepower. This first fight in the show that impressed me of the spectacle of spellcasting. Uh that Akuma fight girl like. Outside. Really? Is your whole name? Alright. Uh Leonore Uraka Albuquerque is the Akuma that real part in episode four possesses fire magic and wind magic. Like I said before, she had that subductive aura farming that she did for just that bleed shot. But man, let me tell you, that fight was amazing. Like they were just off the walls and all that shit. And I think, yeah, and I really like how like that okay, mama channel this for sure. But what real surprised me how, like, okay, Rio is not only pretty good at his magic by now, but the real surprise was he ended the fight with acid rain. Like, bro, bro, like okay.
SPEAKER_00:The boiling water? Well, yeah, I was happy when he brought that back. I'm sorry. Because like when he did that, I was like, oh my god, I forgot about the boiling water. I said, no, he did it.
SPEAKER_06:Bro, like the matter is I had to look this up to where um the thing is, he is so good at water magic that he can manipulate the moisture in the air. So I'm like, bro, that's gonna be fucking crazy um when that's blessed out in later arts.
SPEAKER_01:He needed to do some blood bending. Oh, blood bending.
SPEAKER_00:That's that's literally what my wife said, too. She said that he needs to go ahead and do that at this point. She said Avatar ruined the city. I mean, he kind of did that one night. But no, actually, I I got something for that. So I'm gonna wait. Go ahead. Because I know it's gonna be tough trying to go first, anyway.
SPEAKER_06:No, actually, that's it. Uh Warzwear, gentlemen, how y'all feel about the third and fourth episode? I just like that fighting.
SPEAKER_01:Any female that fights in anime and that enjoys fighting is always nice to me. I really love powerful female fighters. Uh uh, like um, what's the name of this complex? Jesus. What's the name from Black Clover? That um fire lady, what's her name, brother?
SPEAKER_06:I mean sister, Mario Leona.
SPEAKER_01:Lord, oh Lord. Yeah, she's a baby mama too, by the way. Hey, let's let's not do this on set, bro. What you do? No, I'm just saying I I enjoy people that fight like that. I I all she cared about is boxing, and I appreciate that. She can't wait to fight him again.
SPEAKER_06:I like him when I like how later when um we see her again, she was going up against uh this one guy um who uh say he was a hero, uh Roman, and he had his party and whatnot. Uh she beats him easily, and then she was like, man, like yo, get back to me when y'all get a lot stronger. Because like that was like boring as hell. Like, y'all ain't like this one dude I just followed not too long ago. Like, he was like 20,000 times stronger than y'all. I was like, oh man, like um y'all just not getting me off like he did. So oh god.
SPEAKER_01:She's gonna be so happy to see him again, she's gonna punch him immediately.
SPEAKER_05:Oh man. I like how you made me way more real.
SPEAKER_01:She's gonna have to fight an elf because that's gonna be great.
SPEAKER_00:Oh my god, bro. Honestly, ooh, those fights, that too. Like, though that sparring match was very interesting. But look, for real, so I want to go right back to episode three, real quick. Okay, I want you to understand. I was suspicious, okay? I done seen so much Isekai at this point, I'm suspicious of every single character, okay? So in episode two, when Abel said that, oh, don't worry about them, they were just uh pretty much like some thieves anyway, right? I was like, so you was on a ship with some thieves just by yourself, you're the only survivor, and nobody else on there was a good person. Everybody else was just some pretty much suspicious as hell to me. I'm like, that don't make no damn sense, man. You murk them people, didn't you? Your story falls. No, no.
SPEAKER_06:I like how Cook got took like um 30 jokes right now. Like he murdered those men, but I just can't prove it.
SPEAKER_00:That part, like, dude, I was I'm do you understand my suspicion? It was too nice and so nonchalant with that, though. Like, oh, don't worry about their deaths, they were unimportant people.
SPEAKER_06:No, no, no, hold on. Like, that's the one thing about the payton that I didn't like to wear, like, moments where you could have like you could have spent like at least a minute or two explaining that, but like nope, let's just move on.
SPEAKER_00:Oh no, I mean he did technically explain, they did a still image explaining.
SPEAKER_06:No, they're just like they kind of did that uh every now and then in the um course of uh season, though. But like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Sometimes we're like, okay, you could have just spent a minute or two like explaining that shit, but like, nope, let's just move on.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, he was like, we got attacked by by the sea mon by the cracking monster that was down there and got shipwrecked. I said, Oh, okay, the same one that Ryo has saw when he was doing his little training art per se. And then Wanda was like, Oh, nope, time to go. As soon as he saw it, he was like, Oh, nope, time to go.
SPEAKER_06:It's almost like that live action avatar uh cuts where it's like you know how like it feels like a weird cut where I'm like, Well, so y'all not gonna explain, like oh, okay, like for instance, when when they're fighting the wiren, right? And okay, a real took down a whole bunch of wiring, and then some reinforcements were coming. Like, you don't get to see them take out the rest of the reinforcement, but nope, it's going on where I'm like, Okay, yeah, I was like, wait, okay, that's pretty interesting.
SPEAKER_00:They did. It was just like little quick short scenes of him bringing down the plate, bringing down the ice place and stuff. So it's like okay, but I will say that was the only thing because I was suspicious. I was like, nah, Able murk them. Hey, he you know, you can't just say they were all unimportant and he was on that ship by yourself, was the only, the only soul good person. That don't make no sense to know this. So then as they travel through, and after he goes through, after they go through the mountains, remember. So here's the thing. I peeped this one because A will be doing this stuff all the time, like he does this, they purposely animate this all the time to where as soon as before he went to that first town, he had a real suspicious look on his face, and he was like, Yeah, so we're gonna go to this town that's right over here. And I'm like, Hold up, why you looking suspicious? Is you a wanted criminal? Is something going on? Why you look nervous about going to this particular town that you apparently know all about? What is your secrets? Is you hiding, sir? And I'm like, What else? What is Rio about to be into? Then they just drop that entire thing, like it never happened. I'm like, hold up, you can't get it.
SPEAKER_06:Ain't no goddamn way you were able to fucking conjure ice cubes on top of all of those wirings from a distance without incantations.
SPEAKER_04:No, I ain't buying that. I think this motherfucker's a phony.
SPEAKER_00:That part, like it was real, she was suspicious as hell by that. No, no, no, no. The kid's right.
SPEAKER_01:Everybody, this guy's a phony.
SPEAKER_05:That part, but like, bro, like Abraham watched him do it. So I'm like, so I'm like, you got an eye witness, like you can she was harboring on that thing.
SPEAKER_00:She she was like looking up information, secretly going to libraries and stuff. She was like, nah, bro, I need to figure this out. Don't figure this out. No, see, start asking questions.
SPEAKER_06:I was like, nah, ain't no way some water magician from the boonies is putting up higher numbers than the top ranked adventurers. Like, uh-uh, uh-uh, uh-uh.
SPEAKER_00:Exactly.
SPEAKER_06:Exactly.
SPEAKER_04:Like, bro, it takes like 20 adventurers to kill one wire. You mean to tell me you wiped out a whole hoard in just one afternoon by yourself? Y'all two?
SPEAKER_00:Uh uh. They're like, they got the magic stones to prove it, so I don't know. Because it's gonna be here's the bad part about it. If you got the magic stones, that's one of two things. Let's say you weren't the ones that did it and you stole them from somebody else. That must mean you're strong or strategic as hell to be able to steal all of these extremely valuable magic stones from the people who actually killed all these wivers. So either you did it or you're strong enough to steal from the people that did it. Out of the way, you're terrifying.
SPEAKER_06:Hey, it did get to a point where a lot of them were saying, like, hey, yo, we might need a wide tail for real. And then Able's like, hey, listen, if we gotta handle him, let's just surrender. But let's just hope that he's a good guy and we'll just ask for his help.
SPEAKER_00:Right, like for real still. But he straight up told his team that I was like, he said, yo, straight up, this is the rule. Don't fight him.
SPEAKER_05:Don't do it. No, he's on that same way.
SPEAKER_06:They treat him like he's like the yellow flag, like, hey man, if you catch him doing anything suspicious, hey man, let him mind his own business, leave him alone.
SPEAKER_00:Like, don't don't even worry about it. Just just ignore whatever you see him do. Uh seriously, yes, you value your life. Ignore it.
SPEAKER_06:Like you don't know, you don't understand, you real nice with that water magic.
SPEAKER_00:But I was real, you see, but you understand why I was suspicious as hell, Ape. But I'm like, nah, bro, you you can't be hiding, you hiding something. Something just seemed a bit off. I don't know. This there's a bunch of little things.
SPEAKER_06:I swear to God, um, that one fight with Leonore. I thought he was in that water bubble, and I thought he was ready to go and drop the bitch from all the way from that. Like, oh shit.
SPEAKER_00:Yes, when them bubbles hit and that acid rain hit. I was like, oh no. I had to pause and rewind back. And I was, I ain't gonna lie to you, I was swimming the seven seas watching this. Anyway, I had to pause, go through 16 different ads, and rewind back in order to go back and see that again. I was like, nah, no, he didn't, and she screamed. I shot uh look, shout out to the Japanese voice actress and the English voice actress.
SPEAKER_06:Fantastic. Oh, also, I like how Leonore was like, Oh, yeah, I like you. I can't wait till I'll fight you again. Ryo's like, nah, I kind of hope I never get to see you again. Oh, no, no, you're gonna you're gonna see me again, motherfucker. Like, we're gonna fight.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, whether it's me or someone else. You can't just give me such a good fight and then tell me that's it. I don't like you. You can't tease me like that, Rio.
SPEAKER_00:Exactly. But I will say this is also something important, and I'm gonna go ahead so we can move on to the next part. Is this Akumas are not demons? That's very important to understand. I can't really explain too much further into that. Akumas are not demons, devils. That's the reason why later on she was real upset about that when she caught when they had called her that. She was like, nah, don't call me that. Because that's not who she is. Anyway, go ahead. Alright.
SPEAKER_03:Where was I with all this? Uh oh uh, do you have anything you want to add on all that before we get to the rest of these episodes? No, you good.
SPEAKER_06:Alright, cool, cool, cool. All right, episode five. The people of Loon prepare for a great title board. Uh, I'll break up monsters from a dungeon, starting to sound like so well leveling all of a sudden. Um, and as a bunch of goblins are going to attack town while the crimson sword and the white brigade deals with that. Rio encounters Sarah again and asks for him up with how to create golems, keeping his real research on Akuma a secret. In episode six, uh, we see a pretty boy Phelps defending those citizens from the Knights, harassing a girl with Rio Loki helping. The knights seek revenge, but they were burned to the ground by the right-hand Sheena. Uh, meanwhile, the dungeon is closed to the public while the investigation is being made. In episode seven, Avon fights a demon prince on the 40th floor of the dungeon until our boy Rio comes in heroically from the ceiling with a little aura farming. You know, that one drop of water before he appeared. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I feel now it was kind of nice. It was kind of nice. And in episode eight, Rio defeats the demon prince with ease and confidence. Uh well, in a condescending tone, be like, oh, he's like a baby um demon, like a little baby, like, no one's so weak. And afterwards, he sparked with Sarah and lost. Yeah, he and since he technically trespassed in the dungeon while it was officially chased, uh closed off, uh the guild master youth decided to punish him with a quest to escort the merchants to Whitnaz Village. Uh guess what you got on those three episodes.
SPEAKER_00:First off, the fact that this dude was so doggone wealthy that he just hand out quests to his friends, being like, How about this? I pay y'all 50,000. Um, I pay y'all five thousand ahead, and whatever ore you find back, I pay fifty thousand or twenty-five thousand on top of it. And they're like, 'What you really? He says, look, if I send all three of y'all and y'all only find one ore and come back, that's thirty-seven thousand.' I'm still getting off cheaper than if I had bought one here, my dude. That's a straight money, that's correct. But at the same time, what type of money is you sending on? You just casually talk about 50,000. That's$50,000 right there. You just casually talking about it like it ain't nothing. I wish. Hell, but anyway, as far as like the whole fight sequence, look very condescending, and you're correct. That was where, and I like because it happens later on as well when he's fighting Oscar, that he winds up mentioning something else. I don't want to spoil, we haven't gotten to that point yet. I mean, I said I don't want to spoil what we're about to talk about, but I don't want to get to that point yet. But understanding that, yes, as he's been fighting, the further that he's going along, he's understanding more and more about this world. One thing I do like about this is that he makes a mention of something. He says, Clearly, somebody else had to have been isekai in this world before. They have cur because he talks about he gets the curry when he's getting clothing, they have measurements in centimeters. He's like, This is not just random stuff that will come up with here. This clearly had to come from my world. So even the recipes, all this type of stuff. He's like, No, somebody else had to be here for. And I like that one because it made me think a little bit. I'm like, mmm, because I will say that was another Isukai that I watched that that was actually the case where the main character she was going through some stuff, and the issue that was happening, uh, what was it? Um, not Demon Lord Retry, but um, I found I was reincarnated as the demon princess or as the demoness. There we go, it's the demoness type thing. Um, so I bribed the final boss. Such a long name, it was a stupid name, anyway. But that one was just pretty much what wound up happening. She was going to be. I'm watching that too, by the way. Oh, well, dang, never mind. Let me not spoil that. Thank you for telling me. But pretty much the the main villain of the story is actually. I mean, I guess not that I'm not gonna spoil who it is for you, but the main villain of the story is actually another person who is isekai into the same world. So that's crazy. There's already hints. Well, this they dropped hints at it actually from the very first episode. That's weird. That's the craziest thing about it.
SPEAKER_06:That's crazy that you're saying all this because they did the same thing in this new anime, uh, ugly mug epic fighter that did for anime lightning, the last one. Yeah, like, dude get isekai into the world and come to find out. Oh, no, no, no. Like, yeah, uh, it's kind of sort of common that they some folks do get Izikai, but bro, like it kind of gets a little crazy uh the way they do it to where like you when you watch this anime, you would think, bro, this is like some straight up uh a subplot from um Riding of the Summer Hero, where you know how uh Now for me got set up by uh that one bitch where it's simply imagine that book as a whole plot line.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, yeah, that's that's pretty much that's pretty much what kind of like happens a little bit. So yeah, I'm I'm gonna spoil who it is, Tuck, because it there's hints that's dropped, and it's kind of easy to miss until they like do the reveal. So, but anyway, um yeah, it's what not telling you. So, anyway, wrong episode for this. If you want to know, go watch my solo review on it. Uh but still, uh it was one of those ones like he keeps they make mention of these different things, and like this happens a lot in season one. We see this happen in a ton of anime, but it's one of those ones that I'm hoping that is one that bears fruit, and not just a you drop something and then you drop it later. Don't drop something on us and then drop it off and drop it later like it never happened. No, you keep dropping hints. Someone else is supposed to have already been Etherkai's here. He was a hidden trait about the fact that he had eternal youth. The angel even mentioned the last time he uh wound up sending someone to another world that had a hidden trait was 10,000 years ago. All these chef was all these chefs' guns. I can't remember Chefkoff, Chefkoff's guns. You've got all this stuff that keeps getting mentioned. You got the Akumas, which we know is there's a lot about them, but there's only just one that's gotten that we've seen so far. The devils are showing up out of nowhere. You had the first uh a team of A-rank hunters just went missing and found out now that in actuality there's a good chance they probably were teleported to an extremely lower floor and never found their way back or was killed. These devils showed up out of nowhere. Normally, devils don't work together, they usually always pop up because dude, the priest, dude, he mentioned himself, he's like they normally only pop up randomly. But to see so many at one time is unheard of. So it's like you've got all these Jeff Koff guns, you got all this stuff. Don't disappoint too many coincidences, it's not a coincidence. Exactly. It's like you dropped a lot of stuff in the first in the first season, so you have a lot that you need to pick up on. You got attention now, you gotta deliver. And like I said, we got six arcs that's gone through, so clearly it's it's delivered enough to the point that people kept reading that it's still ongoing. But it's one of those ones, like, is it still worth it? Like it is still gonna keep happening. So it's one of those ones like we're gonna see that right now. Like I said, I haven't read that much. I've looked up certain things, but I haven't read enough ahead to kind of get to that point. Now, the fight with Sarah, I definitely enjoyed that fight because it's one of the ones Ryot has already mentioned. He had mentioned before that he does fight the sword, but he's ner he does he know that his uh swordsmanship is nowhere on the same level that his magic is. And again, he's still a magician. That's just kind of what it is. But his sword play is good, but it doesn't have a normal name, it doesn't have a normal like thing to it. I'm trying to say thing, but forgive me, as I've lost my my term for it. But everyone has a form that's the meat. That seems to take like a form to it. Every story style, every form of every fencing has a form. You have a base that you kind of work around because if you're too wild, you have you you become unpredictable, which is good, but you also are unpredictable to yourself. You don't have a form to base yourself back into, you don't have anything to calm yourself down, you don't know what you're going to do next. So that's one of the things about street fighting. Street fighting is fully random. Most people feel feel that street fighting is fully random, but everybody has their own rhythm. And because street fighting is so everybody forms their own special rhythm to themselves, you can't become predictable, which is something that started happening with the fight with Leonora. Because with the fight with Leonora, what happened was it was like, oh yeah, he came out that fight unscathed, but he admitted himself if he did not have the Fairy King's armor, he would have had a hole in his chest. So he wound up taking an intense amount of damage that he had to get healed. And even they mentioned it, like you of all people taking damage, that must have been an intense fight that you were in. Because we can't imagine you getting hurt. So that's one thing, and then Sarah found his rhythm very quickly. She even complimented, she said, You did very great, but she found his rhythm very quickly and was easily able to counter. So that's one thing about it, and I like that you had mentioned that earlier, too. He's not overpowered yet, he still has ways of like working his way through, but his biggest uh weakness is not his magic, it's his sword play. He's played with magic enough to get really powerful there, but his sword play, he can't defend himself.
SPEAKER_06:He's he's very from Mob Psycho 100 to where, yeah, he's like a very powerful psychic, but he doesn't have very strong, like physical stamina and whatnot, and that's the main thing he wants to work on. Is like he wants to get physically strong, but he knows that uh with his psychic abilities, he got that along.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, pretty much. So, yeah, that's pretty much what it comes down to into that. Um otherwise, let's say what we had here, we got the introduction to Phelps. Um, we got an introduction to the high to the high mages. The whole disappearance thing was hilarious to me. He was like, uh, I know you can't give me information because with the rival thing. Oh, that's what we didn't mention when they kept talking about the fact that oh, we don't want to lose Ryo to the um to the other kingdom. Was it Mafuna or something like that?
SPEAKER_06:No, no, it was like Gulah or um uh something like that.
SPEAKER_00:He was like, uh the name is absolutely terrible. Like, I just can't. Oh, I'm from this place. No, like it would never happen. I was like, imagine that that's pretty messed up, Rio. Like you hate this place because the name he says that blame them. He's like, you need to think of your people, and clearly when they named this kingdom, they didn't think of the people, and I'm like, damn.
SPEAKER_06:Look, listen, listen. Like, that was like the first example of what I'm alluding to in this final episode to where Rio went Rio got this, like, he's almost unfiltered to a point to where I'm like, to a certain degree, like sometimes Rio just say the quiet part out loud. Like, he'll he he'll just talk to you like he just don't give a damn.
SPEAKER_00:But he also had 20 years by himself, so the fairy king doesn't speak. I don't know. I'm surprised he didn't go crazy to start talking to himself. Yeah. That's all I got in that one, but anyway.
SPEAKER_06:Alright. Yeah, uh, anything you got on episodes five, six, and seven, and I guess eight, too, because of like I didn't have a whole lot to say on those four episodes.
SPEAKER_00:My baby mama's here. Come on, it's your baby mama's. Oh, okay. Okay, well it's okay.
SPEAKER_06:It's okay. Uh episode nine. Uh I'm gonna honestly try to play through what I got here because at this point there was like a bunch of shit um about to get set up. So I'm gonna try to get through as fast as possible. So Nils uh reveals his hometown Abali has a quest for uh goblins and undead skeletons and asks Rio for help. As the witness job isn't for a few days, uh, he allows Rio to go and warns him that uh other parts have already failed because of the people uh of all the refused to let them fight. So uh in the bali, Niels talked to the mayor and learns that other parties try to fight the skeletons in a secret area. Uh Nils explains the village is protected by a guardian beast living in the woods near a shrine. And after successfully destroying the goblin nest, uh Nazu informs them the village worship one of the six forgotten goddesses, the French model. Uh the guardian beast is a fenrir named uh Nikusin. Uh, hope I pronounced it correctly, who reveals the Fenry are relatives of fairies, so he automatically lights Rio as a student of the fairy king. Uh Nikusin reveals that the skeletons are guards or the arch skeleton he imprisoned in the shrine. And after destroying the arch skeleton, they discover the shrine has a statue of the earth mother holding a broken crystal. Uh a whole bunch of other things going on. Essentially, it was like that one episode where it seemed like because Rio had like the Fairy King's uh attire and sword, it's almost like he was just able to blaze right through the plot of this episode. In episode 10, Rio sets up with Nash as well as uh Nils, Eto, and Amon were on the same quest after naming their party room 10. And that's the like the dumbest shit that this uh whole anime did for me to where you named your party room 10. That's like being in the classroom, like back in school, and there's this one group, like the teachers are periods to group, like you got three or four, whatever the case may be, and then you have this one group that athlete. Uh oh. Okay. No, I think they'll do that.
SPEAKER_01:Wait, what?
SPEAKER_06:No, I was just gonna lord, I have throwing me off. Like, and then you have the teacher, they put you off, and you have this one group who actually like came up with a name, and then you have this other group that's like, eh, but we just call it group two. That's that's the kind of energy that came off for me.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, that's that's stupid, ain't it? Like and it it I'm not sure how what it's gonna be in the future, but him being in that party serves no basis, other than them being weak, them getting attacked, and he getting mad. And like, what if they get killed? He's gonna get mad and just mess up something, or have a whole character shift like Tokyo Ghoul, either way.
SPEAKER_00:It can go on two ways. I can see, I can see your point into that. I can definitely see your point in that. And my apologies. No, I was uh forgot to meet. I thought I was muted and then I had unmuted by mistake since I was gonna say something and forgot to. Anyway, um, I do want to make mention to this one because this one does seem like a little filler, but there actually is important into it. This is also pointing out that the world is falling apart, so that's something that they do have a discussion that winds up happening about the Earth Goddess, and because of how the discussion goes, you can lose track because you just got through watching an intense fight, an intense sparring match. You know, you're focusing on what's the next fight gonna be, and this is a long break period before we have another fight, so it's easy to lose track on this one. But this is the story building part. What's mentioned about the Earth Goddess is the fact that she supplies the power to the world. But the problem is that her shrines are breaking. It was mentioned about the crystal being broken because the crystal is being broken, there's no power coming. The guardian beast is supposed to have power to be able to protect the village, like the guardian beast would have been able, and Kumin would have been able to take care of the arch skeleton. He would have been able to take care of those things, but he doesn't have power anymore, he's lost it. That's the reason why they're nervous about having other people showing up and finding out that there's a guardian spirit, because if they find out there's a guardian spirit, they're gonna be interested and want to come and you know experiment or try to do stuff, how things always work out. But the issue is so they've been trying to keep it a secret, keep it on wraps. But the guardian spirit doesn't have power anymore, and that's actually something that winds up happening. So he even mentions himself when he finally when he winds up meeting Ryo. He has been feeling weakened. He's been feeling like he hasn't had a lot of power. He's been feeling like he hasn't been able to do something, to do stuff. However, because he met Rio, he feels younger. He feels like he has energy now. He feels like he can keep going for like another millennia where he's been feeling like he's dying lately. It's a quick thing that he's mentioning. That's why another part that I say is a lot of shek off guns that keep happening in this show. But I like how it's gonna go with it. But this one is actually part of the story building. Like that's actually what the point of the episode was supposed to be. So there was no it's easy to get lost in that because it just seemed like a simple thing in itself. But yeah.
SPEAKER_06:And uh, like I was saying with uh episode 10. After dropping up the merchant and witnazz, they have nine days to enjoy their festival until the birthday's return trip. And meanwhile, the subordinate Oscar Luca suspects the emperor sent his commander, Princess Fiona, to Whitnaz to keep her ignorant of the acts of uh assassinating nobles who oppose him. Uh Fiona resents being sent to Whitnaz, but is glad her brother Conrad also came along. Abel also arrived with his party. Uh Rhea reveals Oscar is the Inferno Magician who became infamous for incinerating 1,000 men and defeating a Wyvern. And Rio and Oscar almost bump into each other, instinctively jump apart, making Oscar suspicious. And Luna, uh Sarah is upset that Rio didn't tell her that he would be gone so long. I'm like, why would you take the wrong way, bro? I like how she likes even to tell that she really likes him at this point. As part of the festival, a new type of ship is revealed to the public power entirely by wind. And Water Mad is still sales, the range shooter. Uh, and advised that repeating crossbow. Uh, Abel attends the evening party and meets Fiona. Men end up sabotage the windshield, presenting the party, and infiltrates the house to attack Fiona. Uh yeah, once again, like a whole bunch of things going on, like mainly going on with the uh festival, be introduced to Oscar, the Inferno Magician. And in episode 11, that's when we get his backstory. Uh, crazy how the same guy, Boscana, has killed everyone, just by everyone, Oscar love on two different occasions of looting and pillaging. And in present time, uh, Abel meets with Nan Lord of to the discuss starting an adventure uh training program uh with Hugh having promised to supply instructor staff have passed uh programs and moon. During the attack on the party, uh Fiona gets comrades of safety and manages to send up an emergency spell to Oscar, signaling that they're under attack. Uh Oscar arrives in time to witness an attacker has explosion magic under Fiona's feet, blasting her over a clip. Luckily, Neil, Tedo, and Amon work on the beach below the clip and man to catch her as well as killing the attacker that followed her down. Uh Oscar appears immediately afterwards on Mad that uh he he thought that um the three of them was behind trying to attack Fiona and whatnot, he was gonna attack them. But in the season finale, actually no, I don't know, wait back for now. But uh before we talk about the season finale, uh you got anything you want to add on to those episodes uh episode 10 and 11, how that sets up on the screen when on.
SPEAKER_01:Um, yeah, I kind of don't like the backstory of Oscar. I thought it was gonna be something totally different than what it was. Um unless they're gonna set something up for the future, which it probably is. I just I don't really like Oscar's backstory. I I didn't think it had a place right then.
SPEAKER_00:So I can feel your point in that because these last couple episodes did feel a bit rushed. I I fully understand that. Otherwise, it just sounds like he had a Spider-Man writer, you know.
SPEAKER_06:Um I was getting like Batman vibe to me, like it's like all those pearls fluxing on those different no the offense, like see personally, Oscar. I wouldn't take that on disrespect because the same guy just throwing up, like, oh, just happened to be like um looting and pillaging. I'm like, oh well, uh, I'm gonna kill you, I'm gonna kill you, I'm gonna take your sword and whatnot. And I was like, oh man, it's the same kid. Like, I said, Man, I said I just killed you the first time. If you're gonna be this annoying, yeah, you almost did, but you like, oh well, all right, oh child, come on. And and then uh the second time around, that's when uh Oscar was like, I I remember y'all now. Like, like I said, uh, too many coincidences ain't a coincidence of the fact that it's the same two guys uh coming to kill Oscar's mom and dad, and then it was his master, Luke, and then it's like, oh no, I gotta take these guys out now because like every time I'm trying to uh move forward move on and move forward, uh here comes this guy uh fucking up everything. That's fine.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. But uh cookies, you got anything you want to add on to those two episodes before we get to the finale?
SPEAKER_00:Uh nothing to add on to this one I've already said, to be honest. Gotcha.
SPEAKER_06:Alright, season finale time. Oscar mistakes uh Nils, Edo, and Amon for attackers and tries to kill them. Rio intervenes and fights Oscar. Abel tries to explain the misunderstanding, but Rio provokes Oscar further for injuring his friends. Abel is getting between them and demands they stop before they start a war between the countries. Oscar leaves with Fiona. Abel and Conrad agree that it was an unfortunate misunderstanding, but Abel remains disappointed with Rio. Uh Fiona rewards Mills, Edo, and Amon for saving her life. Uh, Rio decides to return to Loon, where Sarah quickly recovers from her depression and takes him to the Forbidden Archives to see the alchemical test. Uh Abel sees them and is surprised that they know each other. Sarah becomes jealous. Rio is casual with Abel and he is formal with her. Uh Rio asks Abel for help finding a large house with a garden so that he can begin experimenting with alchemy. But due to the certain noble restrictions, Rio is only offering a farmhouse outside the city walls, but he buys without any delay. Meanwhile, the angel of Michael is certain that now Rio and Oscar have fought once and they are destined to do so again on a much grander scale. So the peaceful life Rio wanted is unlikely to last much longer. Now let me back up a little bit and let's talk about that fight with Rio and Oscar. First of all, that was like really drippy as hell to where Rio was sliding on that eye uh to slash that uh Oscar. Uh, and it was like, oh man, that was like pretty cool. That was kind of cool, not gonna lie. And yeah, like he was kind of giving Oscar a little bit uh run for his money to where it was like it was felt it almost made me want to see how a full fight would have gone came out if Abel wasn't trying to break the shit up. But I think it was like crazy how like with Rio, he was so mad at Oscar trying to attack his friend that he was like, oh no, like able, can I just go ahead and kill this guy? Like, I don't know. And I'm like, bro, bro, chill out, bro. I'm like, oh um, would you be um be all that chill if it was Rhea that was um being hurt? Like, would you just chill out? Would you um trying to um do you think um you know he was like really being like cold-blooded about it? I was like, nah, like uh I'm gonna kill this guy right now in the back. I'm gonna kill him, and I'm gonna kill the bitch that he with.
SPEAKER_00:How would you no not some Naruto Naruto do talk no juicy? He said that talk like that.
SPEAKER_01:No, he didn't said talk no you right on some on some gar shit. On some OG Gar shit before Naruto.
SPEAKER_00:Well, that boy said, That boy said, How would you feel if I iced your bitch too? I was like, Wait, I'm gonna ice you and ice her.
SPEAKER_01:I was like, Wait, you know how gar was and gar was like he told his brother, shut up before I kill you. I'm finna kill this nigga now.
SPEAKER_00:Ava went through all this explanation and everything to say that, and then he was like, Yeah, you so you said your like he literally said that in exact words. He said, All right, you said your piece, I'm finna kill him now. And it's like Yeah, like you're like, All right, you listen.
SPEAKER_05:No, you finished now, you finish now. All right, bad. Let me get back to killing him.
SPEAKER_00:But for real, something I also wanted to mention, too. This is something important. So this is the first time all the way up until this point, Rio considers himself human until this fight. This is where something changed. Because he actually mentions this when he mentions how good how good Oscar is in the fight, he says, Okay, you're actually very interested in the fight. He said, you know, surprising, you did pretty well for a human. And it's like that's a double thing there. Because one, do you not consider yourself a human? Or you talk about the fact that you've like merked that you've uh almost killed an Akuma or came toe to toe to Nakuma and killed devils like it was nothing. And this dude is like clearly on a different scale based on your previous fights, or do you no longer consider yourself human, Ryo? Or he might have been saying like because of the fairy king, or you ain't shooting compared to the fairy king.
SPEAKER_06:Oh no, nobody talking about where I'm like, hey, I don't calling him humble, that's a very long stretch. I don't like no no, I don't get humble from this guy. He a little condescending at weed. A little.
SPEAKER_00:I mean, it was what's it called? We have the characters develop in a positive way, but yet this one you had the main character develop in a negative way. Yeah, that's a game guard.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, it can be it can be anything though. One little thing can set the characters over the edge. Like I said earlier, like Tokyo Ghoul. You can have just something dramatic that happened to the character and it leads to something drastic. Like the prediction for the future, they're gonna fight again. Well, why would Rio participate in a war? That's not like his character. So something's gonna have to have to happen. I love side note, I love pure of heart characters like Rio. Like, but then I like even more when they no longer appear because some shit go down.
unknown:You're not wrong.
SPEAKER_00:You're not wrong. It's not the fact of wanting to break the character, but just that point of like everything just seems so nice and goody goody to you. When does this gonna get real to you? When is that even gonna actually seem hold on, hold on.
SPEAKER_06:I got a good example. I got a good example. Uh Gone in the Chimera Ant art where you know, you know how he was like really like he really doesn't say.
SPEAKER_00:When Kite died, when Kite died, when Kite died, Gone was locked in on everything. There was no secret or nothing. When that chimera int was like trying to that high chimera in was uh lying to the dude, was trying to set him up, he said he lied to you. He walked in here with the intent to kill me, but he knew he couldn't do it. And I'm like, oh, oh that's crazy.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, we want somebody to slide for me like I gone slide for kite.
SPEAKER_06:And then when he finally met up with the chick, once again, it's like, all right, uh I want you to go right now. And then it's weird. Listen, like he the crook of the crazy part was like he really wanted to kill the bitch. But um, Killer was like, hey bro, you need to calm down, bro. And there was something about, oh uh, you gotta wait at least an hour or whatnot. And then dude straight up sat down and just stared at her for the whole hour. It was like a snake eyeing down his food.
SPEAKER_01:He was posted up on some sales shit. The whole arena posted up and waited. He said, No, I'll wait for the strong niggas. I'm ready for the smoke.
SPEAKER_00:I'm waiting for the smoke. No, I was saying P2, the guy that the one that killed Kite is actually male, it's not female. Though it's based on another pretty anime. Yeah, P2 is a male, it's not female. So here's the thing I've mentioned this in the previous podcast I was on, is that I recently learned about this. Every anime has this one pretty boy character, one that's like extremely beautiful or something like that. It's it's something that's just it's like in almost every single anime. Yeah, it's actually based on a real life person. Yeah, it's actually based on a real life person that there was someone that was considered the most beautiful boy in the world, type of thing. For some reason, every single one. No, this is real life. This is actually a real person. This person's still alive right now, and he's still he's also considered one of the most handsome men in the world right now, still to this day. But um, something about him being the most beautiful boy has they have to put him in every single anime now. There has to be one really beautiful male character that looks female for some bizarre reason. It just has to happen. And P2 is that one. P2 is actually male, it's not female.
SPEAKER_06:You know who first introduced me to well, the the anime they were like, they really hammered in the fact that this guy was Andrade. It was uh he the Yossi from Bob Pantest. Where I'm like, bro, like they made a whole big deal out of the fact that he was like, he he's a boy, like he has a boy's voice, but like uh he just looked up too attractive to uh be a boy, so everybody may be hope, and it didn't even help that he had a uh twin sister that looks just like him, but like no, it's dumb shit.
SPEAKER_00:It it just happens this in every single anime, just so that way you are aware. But no, yeah, that lock in where you had that same you had that same look. His eyes was cold. Yeah, every single time you see him, it's like his eyes always look like water, like you can see the glistening sparkles in it and stuff like that. It's like how they did it. Um because that's why a lot of times in the anime he's zooming into his face a lot about things, and so you're always seeing the water in it.
SPEAKER_06:He almost had that Venic Dubai that Vinny Castle.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah. After every single fight he was in, every every single major fight he was in, when he fought against the Akuma, when he fought against the devil, um, the devil prince, is they keep zooming in on his face, and what you may not quite notice is that he loses more sparkles in his eyes, all the way up until the fight with Oscar when he has none. And so there's they do there's a thing into that that does happen, and and I like that they showed that in the anime, it gives a little bit more character development to really showcase that. Hey, in case you don't realize, he's slowly losing his innocence more and more, type of thing. And it's like, okay, so we need to pay attention to what's about to happen to this character.
SPEAKER_06:Um, he was reincarnated super dilly dally, but he was forced to lock in.
SPEAKER_00:Mm-hmm. Pretty much. You that's one of the scary things about it. You never want a calm, relaxed character to lock in. You never want that to happen. But when that boy said, man, I just think I cannot get over that. I was messing with my wife about that constantly. I said, This dude literally said, He said, I ain't got ice, I ain't the bug icing your bitch back there, too. And he's like, wait.
SPEAKER_06:Bro, Oscar, I like that Osgar like spent no wasted no time crashing out at that point.
SPEAKER_00:Look, you want to also understand, too, is the fact that Oscar, you have to give props to how good Oscar is and f and um his magic. Every almost every single um attack spell that Oscar did, he had an incantation except for his like short fireball attacks. But when he called like the giant fire rain, the hell fire rain, he did have an incantation with that. So Oscar did also um wind up, uh he was able to kind of do simple spells with no incantation, but he can't do major spells without an incantation yet, not like Ryu can. Rio can. But Ryo was like, he he just straight up was like, You good, but I'm about to but you about to die here today.
SPEAKER_06:I'm like, Oh, and talk about the Inferno Magician, and this is all he got? All right, but no, no, no.
SPEAKER_00:But I want you to understand though, I like how it was that one thing that happens, it's like there's no character developed, there's no you coming back for season two, there's no potential you may wind up being the hero ally later on. No, no, no, no. Cut that, you die today. I was like, wait, he's supposed to be your friend later. I don't know what that actually happens, but I would just be like, he's supposed to be your friend later. That's how this always works out, you know? The dude that becomes like your rival type thing. No, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_06:You know what? No, no, you know what? Nah, forget being friends, bring back the same energy that Scribe was on to where you have two rivals that respect each other but don't like each other, and just keep that consistent throughout the whole fucking thing. None of that friendship thing, oh well, I guess we can't no no no. They they stay beefing, like at best they can't start, but like, nah, it's all the way to the end, it's on site.
SPEAKER_00:It's dude, like it's not even because like how students of the characters be like, oh, it's because of a female, or it's because I just want to see who's stronger. No, they're like, yeah, no, I need to I want to see who's stronger, and we're gonna see that. Oh, who's the last one standing? We fight to the death. They literally fought to the death. One person died. I was like, yo, dang. That's a that's a lock in like I've never seen before.
SPEAKER_06:That was a genuine rivalry right there. It was like, nah, nah, vocal with that. It's gonna end in one or two ways, like either there's gonna be one grave or there's gonna be two.
SPEAKER_00:Exactly. And uh, what if Ryu went with Ryo was gonna win? It was gonna be two. Understand that I don't care. It's just like, dude, we went through all this to save her. I don't care. It got you hurt, and die too.
SPEAKER_01:I'm like, Oh god, and then he was it was gonna have to be three because the brother was gonna interfere.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, yeah, true. The brother would have been there.
SPEAKER_01:And then you know, it's up from there.
SPEAKER_00:That's a fact. He would end it, but he would end it rim room style from reincarnation flying when he wiped out that whole army with the water jets.
SPEAKER_06:That's crazy, and I like how he improved on those spells too, like water jets, like uh abrasive jets and whatnot. Like he's improving on it to a point where he's trying to uh replicate what uh Leonor and Sarah was on with the speed and whatnot.
SPEAKER_01:Uh yeah, well, the way you study and the way he used alchemy is dope.
SPEAKER_00:I I have never been I have never been scared of numbers before. Imagine that. Imagine the dude just all the he spouse a number. You're like, what's that number? That's how many doggone things he done spawned to kill your body.
SPEAKER_01:That's what we're saying. Oh, you could dodge a hundred? What dodge 10,000?
SPEAKER_06:Jesus Christ, bro. Like, why were you talking about Haku earlier? Bro, the fact that he has ice magic, I wouldn't be surprised. I won't even hold bro if he ended up on the same juice Haku was on with the crystal ice mirrors and shit.
SPEAKER_00:I will say so. One thing they did mention um as well, too, is that it is actually very common for a water mage to be able to use ice magic. It does take practice to get to that point, but it is actually very possible for it. It's just not using ice magic on the scale that he uses it, is the thing that gives me. But I love also the fight with Leonoro, I like that one the best in this season because of the fact that Rio was put to edge. He had to pull out all the stops that he had. He started because he started off using just ice magic, and every time we see him fight, it's mostly ice magic that he uses, except when he fought against the devil.
SPEAKER_06:That one he's gonna I'm gonna be honest with you. We are gonna do tear maker videos, of course, but at this point, we gotta do like a whole separate season for different magicians and whatnot, you know, like fire, ice, and all that. Like, we gotta do a whole songs series on its own for that shit. Where like Rio's definitely gonna pop up on that list, like you're gonna be one of those boys um that does ice magic, like fucking uh gradeful buffs are from uh fairy tale, or probably put up against pretty much all ice users.
SPEAKER_00:So if we're doing all ice users, like damn, like oh no, no, if you're doing all ice users, that means you're using my bae from um using my bae from killer kill. I can't got killed.
SPEAKER_06:Uh oh, and dev, yeah. Well, hold on. We're gonna do all ice users, it's gonna be fucking Danny Phantom and he's a Gaia. Like, we're gonna get some heavy headers in there.
SPEAKER_00:Mine as well. Yeah, all right. Well, that's all the time that I have. So, is there anything else that I'm trying to do?
SPEAKER_06:Okay, uh, you got anything?
SPEAKER_00:No, I'm good.
SPEAKER_06:All right, rating time. I'm giving this shit a nine out of ten. Great potential. Like the like I said, the anime, uh, the opening and ending thing was great. Uh the artwork swung from decent to surprisingly detailed, like I said before. Uh, the story, yeah, they got a fair amount of um world building and realism. Okay, okay. Um threw out a whole bunch of characters as, but some of them are solid, like at least solid. Like, I just kind of wish they kind of uh plenty them out a little bit more, maybe in a hypothetical second season, but it's it's feeling like a nine right now. I wanna like this, yo. Like, I just really hoping there's a second season to follow up on everything. But uh tell us how you feeling um scale of one to ten.
SPEAKER_01:I'll stand on this hill and argue if y'all want me to. 7.5 out of ten. Look, and I want and I wanted to do a seven, but I'm gonna give it a 7.5. Now, and that's only because there's certain stuff that I'm not sure and iffy about, and maybe they're gonna play it off in the next season, or they'll forget about it. But I don't know, some of the stuff just seems a little weird to me. The backstory, um the characters not being fleshed out. I don't know. It made it for a good and compelling season one, but I'm hoping it can shape up to make a great season two, and then I'll alter my ratings. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_00:I'm usually the one that gives like the harsher ratings. That's that's interesting. No, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_06:It's usually tell that you go way lower than that. Yeah. But no, no, no. Um I was okay, that's fair enough. So in fact, I was thinking like now that I remember, like, it gave me the same feeling as Wisteria One and Sword, which by the way, I'm glad that season two is coming next year. Where it felt like, oh man, I really want to like you, but you only got 12 episodes to your name. So I need to see how season two plays out before I feel good about that 10 out of 10 that I gave it. Or did I give it a nine or something? Like it was it was somewhere between an eight and a ten. Because I was like fairly impressed with Will and the way he was carrying himself and whatnot. The fights were pretty good. Yeah. Like I really digging that one. So like I want to say Warrior Magicians on that same level swear. It got potential, it got a little bit of sauce. I wanna like you, especially with the little bit of aura that you have with the fights and whatnot. But I need to see a season two, just to be truly confident about that knowledge.
SPEAKER_03:But uh, yeah, that's it. So, with that being said, John, thank you for being on this episode with me. Uh, to the listeners, thank you for listening to us to the end. Have yourself a good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good night, whatever time it is in your area. And remember to say Noreen that great things are coming. Let's go ahead and zone up out of here.
SPEAKER_06:Little trip trips of water. No, no, seriously, that or it was tips, it's amazing.
