Go! Go! Loser Ranger (Season 2): Escalating Plots, Finding Purpose and Who's the Real Monsters?
Power corrupts, and absolute power transforms heroes into the very monsters they swore to destroy. Go Go Loser Ranger masterfully subverts the traditional tokusatsu genre by revealing a dark truth: the beloved Divine Dragon Rangers subjugated the monster invasion years ago, forcing creatures to act as weekly villains to maintain their hero status.
Season 2 takes this premise to thrilling new heights as mysterious figures emerge from the shadows. Hwalipon broadcasts forbidden truths about the Ranger Force, while Green Squadron hunts the remaining boss monsters. When Angel Usukubo of the Monster Protection Society is revealed to be half-monster—the daughter of an exiled boss monster—the line between human and monster blurs further. Meanwhile, our protagonist Fighter D continues his infiltration of the Rangers, discovering that his simple mission of vengeance has become hopelessly complicated by human connections.
What makes this series exceptional is how it weaves together multiple character motivations for opposing the Ranger Force. Some seek justice, others revenge, while a few harbor world-changing ambitions. The revelation that the Monster Protection Society plans to transform all humans into monsters adds another layer to this morally gray battlefield. Every character feels justified in their actions, leaving viewers constantly questioning who deserves their support.
Season 2 delivers a perfect 10/10 experience with its brilliant plot developments, satisfying action sequences, and thought-provoking themes about equality and purpose. It's like the Power Rangers meet The Boys in this twisted world where the heroes seem more villainous than the bad guys. If you're craving a series that challenges conventions while delivering genuine surprises, Go Go Loser Ranger should be at the top of your watchlist. What up, gang? Let's talk about Go Go, loser Ranger. We reviewed season 1 a while ago, but I'm gonna recap it anyways, and then we're gonna talk about season 2. Now, previously on Loser Ranger, after the Monster Army invaded Earth 13 years ago, the Divine Dragon Rangers with their respective Divine Artifacts Divine Artifacts like bro, the little demonic as fuck, rose up to stop them. With the war raging on, these great heroes are mankind's last hope. But in truth, the invaders were subjugated within a year, forced to continue to crank out a monster week for the rangers to crush in front of the whole adoring Fanbase that they have. But one monster had enough. He rebels against the might Of the dragon rangers and plots To destroy them all from within their ranks. Now, with our protagonist, fighter D, he Confronts the fighters. Now, while our protagonists infiltrate their ranks, the rangers confront the fighters. You know the little putty monsters that you know about these rebellion against the rangers. Fighter F dies for it permanently by using the divine weapon against them, against the rangers. Fighter F dies for it Permanently by Using the divine weapon against them. And it doesn't Take Sakurama and Suzukiri To know D's secret. Sakurama wants humans and monsters to Coexist. Suzukiri wants the downfall of the rangers as well, for mysterious reasons involving the collection of divine artifacts. After Red's artifact has been stolen, d is hunted by a heavy crew of the Red Force and was aided by Sakurama, who suggested that D masquerade as him and infiltrate the force while the real Sakurama find a way to fix the force. We learn that Sakurama's sister eventually became the Pink Ranger while I know they call them keepers, but fuck all that. While the naive Optimus brother of hers was hiding another fighter in his room, fighter XX XX also wants to kill the entire Rage of Force, but makes an exception for Sakurama and his kind heart. During the final exam for the Aspiring Rangers, one of the boss monsters, petrola, is revealed to still be alive. Petrola, the god monster, is not only the monster that killed Hibiki's parents and crippled his sister, but Petrola is also responsible for the death of xion's brother, and there's going to be more about him later on, but I'll get to that. After meeting the boss monster, d have decided that world domination under the boss monsters is not what he wants, so d makes it clear that everyone is an enemy, despite wanting his new human comrades to be a part of the endgame. Bluekeeper I know I'm going back and forth with it, but stay with me. Comes to confront Peltrola but dies while fighting D Peltrola escapes with Fighter XX Suzuki managed to secure Bluekeeper's divine artifact and some of the cadets end up being promoted to make up for the loss of Blue. Also, the real Hibiki is still laying low. That was Season 1.
Speaker 1:Now in Season 2, some mysterious guy with a bag on his head, hualipon, makes a broadcast revealing some of the truth behind what happened to Bluekeeper and how cadets are being pitted against each other to become rangers. Fighter Dian Usukubo joins the Green Squadron, who are the Coburg boss monster killers. A mysterious person named Chidori appears as an informant for Green Squadron but turns out he was Greenkeeper himself. The real Hibiki conducts his own investigation into the plot. We learned that there's about five boss monsters that survive, including Magatia, the Snake, who's responsible for a time loop illusion at a school. Green Squadron was investigating like an infinite Tsukuyomi for people who reject the real world, which is funny because Susakiri's replica artifact is a remote-controlled false Tsukuyomi.
Speaker 1:We learn more about Hisui and her past. You know the junior, the senior, first rank. We learn more about HeSweet and her past. You know the junior, the senior, first rank, I think of a junior or senior. It gets weird. But you know the right hand to the Greenkeeper. We get more backstory On her, as well as what happened To the missing members of Green Squadron. And after all that happened, d unwittingly revealed himself to be a duster in front of Heesu, but she's not confronting him on it directly.
Speaker 1:D and Suzy Kiri plot Tidore's assassination with Green Keeper, knowing who D was since the school incident you know with greedy gecko, one of his seven tools of trade. Also, at this point the Ranger Force knows that Suzy Kiri is out to collect the divine artifact. So at this point it's like they know that D and Suzy Kiri is gunning for them. But they're like, eh, whatever, we don't care, like we dare you to try Type shit. Uh, funny enough. D kills Red Keeper in a Bumbling way, like seriously. He Trips over a rock and accidentally stabs Him in the heart and supposedly Died. But he Comes back. I was Playing a little bit.
Speaker 1:After the kaiju incident, the general public became disillusioned by the Ranger Force thanks to Hualipan's broadcast. In fact, the Ranger Force has been orchestrating the kaiju attacks. Usukubo quits the Ranger Force to join her father, the head director of the Monster Protection Society the NPS that's why I'm shortening it to is a group of people who believe humans and monsters have rights. Also, fighterxx is there. At a broadcast meeting between the Kibris and the MSP, it's revealed that Usukubo and her father are survivors of the Monster Church incident Remember when I was talking about Patrola killing Hibiki's's parents, crippling pink ranger and whatnot? Yeah, yeah, same incident that they were also there for that, while the keepers revealed their identities to the public, including red, who's somehow still alive. Or is he? Because I'm thinking, is he a clone or what's going on with that? Like, how, how's he back? I don't think it was clear. Uh, ever since red literally twisted mr usakubo's arm off for huawei to film more people stopped fucking with the range of force and began joining the msp. But the truth about the msp is that they had a larger plan to convert all of humanity into monsters.
Speaker 1:Also. Usukubo her first name's angel, by the way is also half monster. Uh, her mother was julie merida, who was this 13th boss monster who was exiled from the other 12 boss monsters that D was working under and resided in Angel after her demise, where you know, she was killed, but she got transferred into Usakubo. Uh, suzukiri revealed to be a hold on. Excuse me, her first name is muko suzuki. My bad, her first name is muko and her real name is muko suzuki, who is the last of the dragon priestess clan who apparently got wiped out, I guess, but I guess we'll get more backstory on that and see a Wiped out, I guess, but I guess We'll get more backstory on that.
Speaker 1:Hypothetical Season 3, or if you read the manga, mr Uzukubo turned himself Into Deathmessia, who was one of the boss monsters, one of the strongest boss monsters, before he died and was defeated by being Contained in the same holding cell that he uses on others. That neutralizes powers. So, in other words, d had to trick him into like launching him into the room, like it was like something, a funny way of how they did it, and essentially what they did was they. They were just locked in there together up until death. Messia, mr usakuba, whatever you want to call him, starved to death. Now, keep in mind these are monsters. So he doesn't really need to eat, so he would have been fine. But the thing was Mr Usakuba, when he took the syringes, to become a monster, which is funny because after watching Devil May Cry, it just kind of feels like the same thing happened Well, not word for word, bar for bar but when I saw that it just made me think of the Netflix Don't Make Rhymes series, which, by the way, I'm kind of glad that season two is coming right around the corner in 2026. Yeah, like, because he didn't take all of it, because it takes two shots in order to become a full boss monster, a full monster, but he didn't take all of it, so he still retained some humanity and because of that he still needed food to survive and that was his downfall. In the end, kibiki formed the team with Fighter XX, shippo and that couple monster and the Dragon Keepers are popular again because there was this whole breakout war between the Ranger Force and the MSP getting out of hand and since the Ranger Force helped out with that, they became popular with the people again. Suzuki rescues clones of the Suzuki clan to revive the Dragon Priestesses. Usakubo fell in love with Fighter D after realizing that D was masquerading as Hibiki since joining the Force and honestly, this series is like the Power Rangers meet the boys, because the heroes seem to be more villainous than the bad guys, especially Red and Yellow. I love how all these subplots weave together between people having different reasons for wanting the destruction of the Ranger Force.
Speaker 1:D Suzukiri, chion, the NPS, him, him, him, her, him, him, bodies, bodies, bodies, bodies. And Susakiri has always been suspicious to me, like Makama from Chainsaw man. It's the look in her eyes that have me asking what are you up to, lady? What are you up to I? Like Angel Usakubo, you know, with the heterochromia eyes and whatnot. She gave me kinatakuga vibes up until she joined her father. I mean, I still like her, but you know so much for the whole side girl thing that I thought she had going on.
Speaker 1:And crazy enough, uh, pink keeper has a brother complex for hibiki, which makes it more awkward for d. So I can't wait to see how pink keeper finds out that, oh, her brother that she gained more respect for turns out was d the whole time. Because, keep in mind, hibiki was like this pacifist that wanted to make humans and monsters coexist with each other without that much violence. But ever since D started masquerading as Hibiki and talking to Pink Keeper, like Pink Keeper kept thinking like, oh man, hibiki became such a man lately. Like what's going on? You know, like I love it, but no, like that ain't even your brother. But, yeah, amazing plot developments and twists since the first season, a lot of mystery and intrigue. The action was satisfying and the themes of quality and having purpose in life was the special sauce that this series needed.
Speaker 1:I don't remember what I rated season one, but if I could rate it right now I would say it was like a 7.5, maybe an 8, but season two is definitely a 10 for me because it had a lot going on. Trust me, ladies and gentlemen, trust me, trust me, trust me. But uh, that's all I pretty much had to say. Uh, you go ahead and have yourself a good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good night, but ultimately you take it easy. Remember that great things are coming and stay nerdy. We will be back for more nerdy news and reviews. I am out of here.
