Speaker 1:

The 100 Girlfriends who, really, really, really, really, really Love you. Seasons 1 and 2. What can I say? What can I say? This is one of the best rom-coms I've seen in a while.

Speaker 2:

And before I get into my take on the 100 Girl girlfriends, let's see what Sebi thinks about it hey guys, it is Sebi Phantom just coming up here to go over um, my review for list of the 100 girlfriends who really, really, really, really, really love you. And first I want to say this anime is hilarious. This is a parody anime, in my opinion. There's a lot of pop culture references, there's a lot of different characters and different personalities and I just think this is a really drawn out, really made anime. Um, that was. That was a manga that turned into an anime. I think this is a really good um take on it.

Speaker 2:

When I first watched it, from sub to dub, I first thought that it kind of was like ghost stories. If you ever seen ghost stories how they were told hey, don't mess with the original, like you can mess with anything, just don't do like, don't do their take on it. So they decided to play around with the voices' characters, um, and at first I was watching this anime and duh, but I'm like is that what happened here? Apparently not, that's not what happened, um, but I think this is, like I said, a very cute slice-of-life comedy, romantic harem anime that I don't really see in a lot of different animes and what I watch when it comes to harems, normally they're isekais. So when I come up here, I watched it and I'm like oh, this is just a really, really cute slice of life.

Speaker 2:

Um, I'm just gonna go over a few of my favorite characters. Of course, rantaru. Rantaru is doomed in the beginning. He's been rejected hundreds of times, so he strives to be better himself, each time Due to an error. Of course, rintaro is destined to have a hundred soulmates and he meets, as of right now, I think, in the manga. We are currently at 25. And they all make a part of this group called the Rintaro family and he goes out of his way to take care of them and to me that's boss mode. Like he takes care of each and every single one of his girlfriends.

Speaker 2:

Um, I know we first meet one and two in, like the first episode, um Hakari and Karne. Um Hakari is more of a physical attraction. Affectionate person, loves to, like show, express her true feelings, like she wants to be his girlfriend immediately. Um, karne, of course, is our tsundere personality and she struggles, of course, whatever tsunderes do. Um, she, of course, course, is also attracted to hakari, and I think that's what those three just make everything so perfect.

Speaker 2:

Um, my all-time favorite character is suzuka. Suzuka is the third girlfriend and she's very shy, mute, um, she was bullied by her classmates, abused by her mom, but she was a bookworm so she was able to communicate through passages. And of course Rintaro, being the loving boyfriend he is, develops a speaking app so he, she, can communicate freely. That just proves right there that he's willing to do anything. But I did see in the anime that she was able to speak, sometimes one or two sentences. Um, nano, she's an emotional, emotionless.

Speaker 2:

Fourth girlfriend, stoic, um, she's also very fond. I also think it's funny that we get mothers too. We have Hahari I say that wrong, I'm sorry Rintaro's sixth girlfriend and Hakari's mother. She gave birth to Hakari when she was only 13, due to him falling in love with a terminally ill student. Knowing that he didn't have long to live, she artificially inseminated himself herself so that she could give birth to hakari. Now she adores everything cute and affectionate and share some of her daughter's perverted tendencies. But she also sees him as like come here, my baby boy, your mommy's here to take care of you. Um, there's also some things where it can get a little bit of awkward, in my opinion. So like his seventh girlfriend is a third year middle schooler who gets hungry very fast, yeah, um. So right now I think we're at um Meme. Meme is a shy character who goes out of her way of being a background character. She also needs some little plushies and she's the shyest of them all and she's eventually trying to become more comfortable with Rintaro's other girlfriends.

Speaker 2:

Um, when I talk about pop culture references, there's a lot of it. So, like there was a not like us um reference, there's a lot of like other anime in the first episode spoilers in the first episode um, uh, he's basically looks like tokyo ghoul and the god is like hey, tokyo Ghoul called. They want their ghoul back. And then one of the last episodes, when they were trying to get Carne's tsundere personality back, they were all dressed up as Dragon Ball characters. So there's a lot of pop culture references and I just think that makes it a lot better because they're referencing to outside um.

Speaker 2:

So, yeah, this is one of the best animes. I'm excited to see all the rest of the girlfriends. I've pretty caught up. I've seen um past 11. Um, we do get a bit on the taboo side, but, please, this is a really good anime, so I recommend it to people that are okay with taboo slice of life. Um so yeah, if we ever get more into it, I'll probably write a blog about each girlfriend and go from there. But yeah, this is subby phantom. Thank you so much.

Speaker 1:

Cool, cool, very good, sebi, very good. Now my take on it Great art style, especially with the eyes. A slew of rom-com cliches, real-world references, a fourth wall breaks that swing from being genuinely hilarious to kind of tired out, like sometimes those cliches kind of grated on my nerves, but there was like some genuine humor that I did like. I'll get into the references later now. What did kind of throw me off? How there was Friend A, like not to call too much attention to it, but you can tell it's a parody anime when it's being called out that they're called Friend A and they're not supposed to be part of the story for that long anyway. So what the hell. But getting to the plot, are you telling me that the god of love accidentally assigned Renterro 100 soulmates when given a movie review? Like he was so distracted by the movie, he loved the movie so much that he actually wrote a hundred down on rentals. You know paper application, whatnot? Thinking it was a written score of it. And I'm like bro, how the fuck do you even do that? Now, the one thing that did trip me up was the part where they said not everyone is destined to have a soulmate. Now, yeah, I'm like bro, like it'll happen when it happens, but like y'all can't keep pushing me into a relationship that I'm not really ready for, like not to say, like you know, I'm scared of commitment, like I would love to be in a relationship. It's just I'm trying to get myself together first and it's kind of true to where, like, really like, there's just someone out there where they're just you're just destined to be with them. In real life, I don't think it's that easy. Like it. It may look that way, but sometimes your soul may come kind of late in life, or maybe you already passed by your soulmate and you fumbled it or whatnot, who knows. Like you know how some folks say that, oh well, check your friend zone. I'm like, honestly, I don't even think their friends don't even exist, because the thing is either be their friend or just leave them alone. You know what I'm saying. But let's get back to the review. Rentero, solid dude, like he's not one of those indecisive oh I don't know what dude kind of protagonist. No, this dude stands on business, on every girl that he encounters, doing right by them, and he, he almost thought about being a two-time, but like, no, no, no, I can't do that. I, I gotta do right by them. So I'm thinking like, how do you feel about a polyamorous relationship? And with every girl it was like you know what, whatever, welcome aboard. But it wasn't always that easy Because, you know, some of them did have their reserves On being part of the group. But Aside from that, you know, they were like this cool, the idea of as long as Rintaro believes that he can handle it, alright, let him handle it Alright.

Speaker 1:

Speaking of which, in seasons one and two we were introduced to Eleven. So far we, seasons 1 and 2, we're introduced to 11. So far we got princess thickums, hakari. We have sundare karane. We got bookworm, that's shizuka. We have the valedictorian, that's nano. We have the pusher, woman, kusuri. You know also the kim girl. I'll explain that one in a bit. We have queen thickums, which is hakari's mother, kusuri. You know also the Kim girl. I'll explain that one in a bit. We have Queen Thickens, which is Hakari's mother, hahari. We have the foodie, kurumi. We have Rainbow Eyes, meido. We have the tomboy, iku. The prima Donna, mamimi, yeah. And we have Bang's uh Meme.

Speaker 1:

Or Mimi, whatever. Those are the main girls in the harem. But there's some side characters that I'm gonna call attention to, like, for instance, this scary-ass-looking vice principal that French-k kisses students as a disciplinary action nickname solid the hedgehog, and I'm like, okay, what the fuck?

Speaker 1:

oh, good lord and then she's because mother, kind of a real bitch in my personal opinion. The chem girl, low-key, made a Breaking Bad reference I am the one who knocks and also her true form reminds me of Rhea's Grimery in a way. They did have this one episode, the Resident Hazard Kid Zombies episode. That's probably one of my favorites as far as like general shenanigans and that's kind of the thing that for the most part the episodes are like the typical tropes but their own spin to it in a way that's entertaining in its own right. But Resident Hazard is honestly like one of my favorite episodes in the series. Uh, harry, she did remind me of mother gothel from tangled in a way like very controlling of her daughter at first, but there's reasons behind that so I'm not gonna hold her. And then when she fell in love with Renterow it was like she went from Stone cold girl boss With a soft spot for her daughter To this Big kid that wants to be A mother figure to all the girls. And Renterow to an extent I like her, but you know it's weird. You know, because she's a grown woman having a relationship with not only a high school boy but a high school boy, that he's a chairperson, like she's on the on board of directors for that school. So it's like that's inappropriate in two ways, but at least she's aware of it. So I'm like, okay, at least there's self-awareness in that. But personally, queen thickums can get it from me, but I can't say I condone the wide the AIDS gas thing. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1:

When we got to the food eating competition there was this one guy, chonko, right when he was like this big sumo-like guy. But it turns out he was just a skinny dude in a robot suit and when I got to that part I was. I just can't help but be like that one red headed dude from Family Guy that was just harassing people, talking about he's a phony, he's a big fat phony. And uh, oh right, mado, her rainbow eyes look something straight out of Demon Slayer, almost in a scary way, not like it scared me, but like the only time you usually see her eyes is when she's like not laughing and Renteru had to like trick her into doing that. And it's like they look good, but like at the same that. And it's like they look good but like at the same time they look like some of the straight hot seats I think they made a reference to that too, but I don't know.

Speaker 1:

There was like a whole bunch of references that I can't keep up with all of them. One that I did notice was Kurumi the foodie making a reference to Kendra Lamar's TV. All with mustard on the beat, bro. I like whoa. I was not expecting that. And then there was a whole epic speech in the season two finale where rentro was telling the girls what he loved about all the girls and it just went on and on to where I was like she right, like these girls love this man and this man love these girls. And it's just wonderful. I loved it. I am highly anticipating season 3 and on I'm giving it the 5 star treatment. I loved it. I'm addicted to it.

Speaker 2:

I don't know anything else.

Speaker 1:

No, no, no. I loved it, but that's all I gotta say. Go ahead and have yourself a good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good night. Ultimately, take it easy, stay nerdy and remember that great things are coming.
