what up, nerds and nerdettes. It's time for the nerdy news with the zone podcast. As per usual, we got movies, television shows, video games and other type news that we would like to discuss, so let's just go ahead and zone in on that. Uh, we got the sonic head tall trilogy. It just crossed a billion dollars in the box office good for them. And the fourth film will be out on march 19, 2027. Uh, we got playstation studios and columbia pictures saying that there's gonna be a movie adaptation of horizon zero dawn. We're also gonna get a hell divers out film coming from sony. So I'm like, okay, they're kind of doubling down on the whole video game adaptation thing. Like, in fact, I think they're working on a ghost of shima film too. So, yeah, uh, dune 4 is in early development and we got Moana 2 that made $905 million at the box office with a budget of $150 million. So for them as well, not a whole lot on movie news, but that's all that came across my radar, kookieguy. So you got anything to add on?
Speaker 3:Man, for reals, I'm actually upset that I have not seen the sonic, the third sonic movie. I hear nothing but the fact that it's funny, it's amazing, it's awesome and it's like what is going on, bro? I absolutely should have seen that movie, but it's coming out. It's coming out digital, so I'm gonna get a chance to watch it. Um, I'm a big fan of Sonic, so I'm super happy to hear that they wind up breaking, you know, crossing a billion dollars in the box office, because, again, we're fans that show that if you listen, we will support you. You do what we say, we will support you, because we're the ones paying you the money, we're the ones doing this. So it's like absolutely, absolutely love it. The thing is, as far as my playstation studios making for horizon zero dawn, I'm nervous because amazon already, you know, has released out uh, was the secret level was called right?
Speaker 3:yeah I can't remember, so I haven't heard nothing about it. I heard nothing about it. I'm'm scared, okay. So it's like I'm going to see what's going on, especially considering the fact, like hearing, that James Gunn is getting a lot of backlash for the new Superman movie Because the Superman estate is suing to prevent the Superman movie from being released in certain areas. So they're trying to cut the money from it.
Speaker 3:So I'm really nervous about how things are going right now for any type of comic book, video game adaptation and things like that. So it's like I I'm just nervous. Like horizon zero dawn is a great game. It's a great game, great series. Um, I even was working on a Father's Day video last year. I never got a chance to finish it, but I was supposed to be able to release that, and one of the ones I was talking about was Aloy's father. So it's like it's an in-depth story to me as well too, because he's an adoptive father and you know, one of my kids isn't biologically mine, mine, and it's the same way he was in the game too. So it's like I. I literally just did a damn review on full metal alchemist. I just did the recording on it, the live action. Please don't screw this up y'all. Please don't screw this up. The script is there. I understand some stuff you may have to cut out, but like, the script is there, stick to the script, we're good to go. That's all I got to say on that one.
Speaker 3:Um, I have not played Helldivers. The fan base has kind of like left it and they're trying to get people to come back. So I don't know about Helldivers. To be honest with you, dune 4 is something my wife is super excited about. She's loved the Dune movies, she's been very in tune with them, so I know she is super excited and understanding that the fourth one is coming out Moana 2. Fantastic, I ain't seen it. I ain't really heard nothing about it. To be honest with you, I don't know Right now. I'm not the biggest supporter of Dwayne Johnson, so I'm just like we're going to see what happens. You know, I got you. That's pretty much what I got on that right there. Oh, also, if they do have Ghost of Tsushima, that would be dope. But again, I'm nervous because there's so many different things. That's just not going the way it should go.

Speaker 1:So you just came in just in time. We just got through going through movie news. Essentially, we're talking about how, as of now, the Sonic the Hedgehog movie trilogy is now worth a billion dollars.
Speaker 2:Sound like the junkie carrying it on his back.
Speaker 1:Horizon Zero Dawn and Hell Diaries is getting a film adaptation. Uh, doom fords in early development and moana 2 made almost a billion dollars in the box office. So that was pretty much it. You didn't miss a whole lot uh, oh, wanna bro this is controversial.
Speaker 2:The second one ain't as good as the first one, but the reason I say the reason I say that is the music ain't the same, because Lin-Manuel was not working on that, even though he should have been, but because of the time restraints that they put on it. He was working on Mufasa soundtrack at the time that they was doing Moana, because originally he was going to do Moana and they said it was going to be a TV series. At the last second they converted it to a movie and he didn't have time to work on both.
Speaker 1:Gotcha, gotcha Okay.
Speaker 2:You can't take the music is the foundation of the movie yeah movie. It was good, though it just wasn't great like the first one gotcha.
Speaker 1:Who knows? I might be in the mood to review it somewhere in the future, like maybe somewhere in the summer.
Speaker 2:I don't know yet, but we'll see and in the movie, though just not as a spoiler, but they did clarify that Moana is not a Disney princess, and they even said that, even though everybody thinks you are like you know, so there's a good play on that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean, the Disney princesses already have a pretty strong Rose Gallery already, so I don't see the need to expand even more at this point. Uh, yeah, that was movie news so far. Now, if you don't mind, let's go ahead and get into television. Uh, cookie, I see you were talking about secret level, right? So it got renewed for a second season, so we'll see what else they got in store for that. Uh, season 3 of squid game will be released on june 27, 2025 not that far away and this was leaked by netflix korea, but it got later deleted, but they already announced it. That's going to be June 27th, so it's like we already knew. So, yeah, sucker Punch, they're making a Ghost of Tsushima anime series in 2027. It wasn't a film, it was an anime series. I got that mixed up.

Speaker 1:Oh wow, oh yeah. Film, it was an anime series. I got that mixed up anime. Yeah, oh wow, uh, oh yeah. And the last of us, um, the tv show. It's getting a second season in april, so I heard the first season was pretty good. Like we need to review that, but I heard the first season was pretty good, so let's see what the season's gonna be. Uh, y'all remember holes in the movie, holes, you know. Uh, so it's getting rebooted as a tv series for disney plus.
Speaker 2:Take that as you will they need to have sial above, play a character in it, maybe the dad.

Speaker 1:Season 2. The production of it has been delayed due to the LA fires. And it was crazy when I hear about all those celebrities losing their homes. It was like affordable Bro. Some people were on social media playing the world's smallest violin. Hey man, they still lost their home. I was thinking, oh well, you know they can always buy another one, but still, there's just things that they might have bought or obtained in their lives. You can't just replace some of that shit.

Speaker 1:Three more things. Abbott Elementary has been renewed for a fifth season and it recently had a crossover with. It's always sunny in philadelphia, and that's what honestly got me interested at elementary because I was hearing things about it. But as soon as I heard about this crossover, I'm like, hey, you know what I want to get this on show chance. Uh, go, go lose a ranger. Season two is gonna be, uh, debuting in april 13th of this year. And brace yourself for this one cookie, guys, because I know you love this series. You remember sandman. So season two is supposed to be the last season. But even that's not going to happen Because apparently Netflix is cutting ties with Neil Diamond, who's been accused of sexual misconduct by several women. So that's television news, gentlemen. What y'all got on that? How y'all feeling about that?
Speaker 2:Before we start anything, let me go ahead and get into this. I want to talk about holes. Now, disney I swear Disney need to go ahead and set the holes strong as the theme song, and if they don't, they missing out on so much money because everybody will be singing that song. Almost said something, but I ain't going to say it. It was from the Boondocks, but I digress. They desperately need to put their damn songs on. But if that was the theme song, I'm playing that song out.

Speaker 2:Alright, let me just peruse through this Docket real quick. I'm really excited for Ghost of Tsushima. That freaking Game was iconic. Yeah, it's like man. I'm really excited. I'm wondering what kind of art style it's going to have, and if it got a new age anime art style. I'm really going to like it. Aniplex do a good job, though, so they do a lot of adaptions in the English dub too, so that seems like it'll be dubbed pretty fast. Now I haven't seen Abbott Elementary. Have y'all.
Speaker 1:I haven't.
Speaker 3:My wife watches it. I watch every now and again. I watch some of it because usually she's watching in between podcasts and stuff like that. But Real Talk is actually dope.
Speaker 2:I haven't seen the show, but I've seen clips and stuff on.
Speaker 3:TikTok, the dude from Everybody Hates Chris. Yeah, tyler Diggs Williams, he is hilarious.
Speaker 2:I've seen them dancing to I um. I've seen a lady trying not to dance but dancing to um Cash Money Records taking over 99 in 2000. And, uh, when the beat drops, she was trying not to dance. But you know, you just can't help it because of Ancestry.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:So I mean that was pretty cool. I haven't seen the Last of Us either, so, but of course I played the game, so it's great how a lot of stuff from video games being transformed into TV shows and movies, except that one that we don't need to talk about, that Kevin Hart was in but not that great.
Speaker 1:But yeah, that's all I got. I mean, I mean, yeah, yeah, I can't even say that we're all Minecraft. I don't even think that's all yet. We'll see.
Speaker 3:Uh, kogiasu, what you got on television news okay, so secret level yeah, we already talked about that. I ain't heard nothing about it. I ain't heard nothing good, I ain't heard nothing bad. But for me, when it comes down to shows, no news is not good news. I need to hear something about it.
Speaker 1:Honestly, the reason why I didn't do the review yet because I tried it it just felt like a whole lot of nothing was like maybe like a couple of good episodes, like the warhammer episode, maybe you might like the megaman episodes and the dnd episode. I don't really care for the dnd episode. Honestly, it just felt like a whole bunch of nothing going on. So that's that's really how it was like. And even then, like it's a anthology series, that's like at best 15 minutes per per episode, so you can knock that out in like two hours or so, I want to say.
Speaker 3:And even then it's like you're not helping me out then because I still don't want to watch. Look, I mean I might get around to it. We said I mean we do, we are gonna want, we do reviews of so much stuff so I might want to get a chance to get around to it. So we'll see. Uh squid game, the second one, they they played heavily on the fact that, like people hated that, he turned around every commercial. I've seen the left and right. Also, I haven't had a chance to get to watch this quick game because, um, it's not a game, it's not a. Not a game. Sorry, it's not a show that you can watch around.
Speaker 3:Children, my kids do all over me saying I don't usually get too much free time to be able to kind of sit down and do some stuff. But, um, I did hear, as far as the second season does get some new games into it and it kind of changed up a couple of things. Our main character he's because he's been through it, he knows some of the workarounds, so his intelligence increased. My thing about it is it's like, why is season three coming so soon? Like it, it's one of those ones like release season two. See if it actually, if people really want to see a second season before really kind of going to the third one, because I'm nervous with what I'm hearing about season two. But the thing about it is it's not a good money decision.
Speaker 2:It's not a good money decision, it feels like Mr Beast, got the squid game, so money.
Speaker 1:Nah, hold on. I've been noticing a trend how, if you've been waiting a while for the second season and, hey man, we're sorry for that the second season came out, so like, we will do better. In fact, here's the third season on, coming right around the corner. You know it's that we are invincible and other old shows where it's like, okay, it's been a while since you put out the last season and now that you're coming back and it's like, okay, we'll do better. Now I'm like you just rushing it on the newest season. So I'm like what? I didn't even watch season two yet, honestly, but we're gonna get to it. But even then, I'm sitting there like and also I've been hearing that people didn't like season two, but and that makes me weary already. So I'm sitting here like if season two is going downhill, then I don't know what you're trying to say with season three. So we'll see.
Speaker 3:But uh, you had anything else so I don't really have too much else. Like, I mean, I'm excited about the last of us. Uh, hbo series, the season two coming, because the first season was like really really good. Um, I already talked about abby elementary. It's actually really funny, seems pretty good. Um, go go lucifer ranger season two we was talking about that and it's it's a tad insane. It's definitely some nonsensical stuff that's happening there, because it's like, is it really worth it?
Speaker 1:um, I will say it was kind of worth it. I will say Sentai Red Isekai. It's kind of funny. Not gonna lie, we're definitely gonna review that one.
Speaker 3:Well, I mean, I think it's because of the whole Red Ranger reincarnated into another world type thing. I think, like you had mentioned on a previous podcast, I think that's the main reason it's coming back, really, yeah, but it's like just I don't know, sandman. I'm actually curious because, um, sandman was better than I imagined to be, especially considering the fact of being dc sandman this is not marvel, is the dc. So it's like it was better than I expected to be, but the way they ended it it didn't seem like it was going. So it was like it was better than I expected it to be, but the way they ended it, it didn't seem like it was going to continue. It was like they kind of wrote it almost as a one-off type thing, and if that wasn't the case, they did a good job to make it seem that way. So I don't know. I'm kind of curious what's going to happen on that. So I do want to add one quick thing to this list as well.
Speaker 3:The this not a lot of good news coming about. The new spot, uh, spider-man CV series. They've admitted that it's not canon. It's not canon. They've already admitted that, but then they've also, um, some people are just like kind of getting mixed feels about it, especially considering like they're like oh yeah, this is not going to be a woke Spider-Man like the other ones were, and it's like yo wait what, oh yeah the star of Spider-Man, hudson Thomas.
Speaker 1:He was saying, oh man, this show is going to be annoying and woke and people were blaming him for it. I was like, well damn, how dare you say that annoying and woke and people look like blaming him for it? I'm like well damn, how dare you say that you don't want to be diverse and equality includes and you don't care that sort of thing? Honestly, at this point I just looked at the whole show. I wasn't going to say anything because, like, I was gonna wait until I do the review or if anyone's even more interested. But I looked at the whole thing and I'm like you know what, let it be what it is, because at this point, after season 3 of what If I? I just I'm just not surprised anymore. It's like okay if I don't like it.
Speaker 1:I'm just like I'm just not gonna waste my time on it. But if I'm interested then I'm gonna watch. It's kind of like how I feel about Captain America movies, where I'm still remotely interested in watching it. But um, with this one, this spider-man show, I'm honestly not feeling it. But I mean I am curious, so I'll give it a try anyways, and if it's worth a review, you're gonna hear a review. If it's not worth a review, well, I guess it kind of rivals Velma on. Really not worth your time. But nice as me.

Speaker 1:Gotcha Alright. That was it for television news news. Now let's get to my favorite segment, gaming news, because it's always something in gaming. For starters, season one of Marvel Rivals. It kicked off with the addition of Mr Fantastic and the Invisible Woman to the list of playable characters, and NetEase Game also stated that they intend to release a new character to the game every 45 days, and I am all for it. It's the kind of game where I'm like, yeah, I can imagine they put out a skin of Cuck's baby mama Jessica Alba as a skin in this game at some point.
Speaker 1:Shift Up, you know the company behind Steel Blade. They did so well with Steel a blade that they were like, okay, you know what? Let's give all the employees a PlayStation 5 Pro and a catch bonus of five million one which is $3,400 in the US and, I think, a film. Oh yeah, we kind of talked about this, but uh, you ever want, ever got curious how you want to smell certain things in games like clickers from the last of us? Well, sony is working on technology to allow people to have essentially smell of it. I find that kind of hilarious. To have essentially smell-o-visions. I find that kind of hilarious. But moving on from that, come to find out the reason why Assassin's Creed Shadow has been delayed to March 20th is because they're trying to pause the parkour mechanic. Okay, sure, and according to NateTheHate, a podcaster with a history of correctly reporting on Unreleased video games, both Halo, the Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator will be launching on PS5 and Switch 2 sometime this year.
Speaker 1:Kind of interesting, because you know Halo having its, you know Xbox having its, you know Xbox having its flagship game being available to the other consoles. I mean, I'm hoping that brings back our resurgence in Halo players, because now we can be like, yeah, playing Halo and all that, just like the good old days. But moving on from that, the Nintendo Switch 2 just like the good old days. But moving on from that, the nintendo switch 2 that god. Now it's because you know it already got leaked and nintendo's like you know what fuck it. Let me just give you a little teaser trailer. But it looks like, uh, it's gonna probably come with a new mario kart game that allows of the 24 racers. Uh, the nintendo switch 2 will be backward, compatible with the original system, with both physical and digital games, with an asterisk, with the updated form factor and size. This could mean that titles like Ring Fit Adventure, which needs specialized accessories, wouldn't work.
Speaker 1:The Nintendo Switch 2 trailer has seemingly confirmed that Joy-Cons will boast a previously rumored mouse functionality, so it kind of clicks around like a mouse. The two Joy-Cons can be seen being pushed by an invisible force along a flat surface and their wrist straps out in the back and little mouth tails. Meanwhile, there seems to be some kind of attachment that gives the side of the Joy-Con a smooth edge and a mysterious button on one of the Joy-Cons, which may be a C button. I'm not 100% sure about that, but we'll get more information as it gets closer to being released.
Speaker 1:On Zenless Zone 0,. Asriel, evelyn, poultra and Trigger are the newest or upcoming characters in this game and I'm kind of interested in those characters. Dune the Dark Ages has been announced for release on May 15th. Ninja Gaiden 4 has been announced for release in Fall 2025. Meanwhile, ninja Gaiden 2 Black has been remastered and available now. And last, in gaming news we say put them in a coffin to multiverses because it will be going offline permanently after season 5 concludes in May. With that being said, that concludes what I got for gaming news. Gentlemen, what you got Um.

Speaker 1:I honestly not sure why this is Like. I'm gonna look into that a little bit more, but I don't know why. I do not know.
Speaker 2:Like I just If it's making way for another game, that's understandable, but it's not and that's stupid. They can generate at least a little bit of income.
Speaker 1:Right, it's like dang. Like I know Marvel got more rivals, but at this point likec needs to have something too that keep um the dc gaming space alive somehow, like I don't know yeah, I agree.
Speaker 2:Um, and then the only other thing I wanted to comment on was the nintendo 2. I'm just not sure how to feel about the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo Switch is cool, got some great games, some good shooters. But Empower World was popping. I don't know, man, if it's just some of the same stuff and they just put two on it. But you know, it ain't't really nothing to shout at or go home about. However, if they come out with Def Jam Vendetta, we in a whole different league.
Speaker 1:Yeah, excuse me, I was trying to look into why it's being shut down because, like, the only thing I imagine that it's getting shut down is because, you know, it's just one of those games that just fell off. I don't know.

Speaker 3:don't really have too much to add. I haven't really watched Marvel Rivals, but I will say the hype for it is intense, it's crazy. People absolutely love it. As far as the whole shift up thing cool, awesome, where's mine? I'm happy for them, but I'm just being like very real right now, where's mine? At? I don't have a ps5. I want one, but I'm broke. Um, no, I absolutely am not interested in smell of vision. I'm gonna be honest with you. Smell of vision is something like smell gaming and smell of vision something that me and my brothers have joked about for over 10 years. It was like watch before we're going to give VR experience, but before that, we're also going to go ahead and get some smell. Think about it. You can smell the game, you can smell how it goes. No, I'm not interested in smelling fungus, and what type of nonsense is that?
Speaker 2:I am thinking we're moving and progressively working towards full dive tech and we need full dive tech. I want to be fully immersed. I want it to be sword art online, but not the bad part.

Speaker 3:If I'm going to smell any game whatsoever, never mind, I got a kid with me. I can't say it Anyway.
Speaker 1:Bro, I wouldn't be able to play games like South Park or maybe Bully Twitter. To some degree, they like implement like some sort of park mechanic and it's like, oh my god, like those farts gonna probably smell so right.
Speaker 2:I wanna go to GTA, to the strip club. I'm being smelling everything but hopefully, hopefully it smell good and we're still waiting on the new Grand Theft Auto to come out man that that shit looking so good like I will imagine.

Speaker 3:I don't think I have so much else. Uh, the switch 2 is, uh, nonsensical. I'm not gonna lie to you, the commercial was creepy to me. I didn't think I'd ever be disturbed looking at a commercial for a new gaming console. Um, and I think it was a youtuber, I watched that he was made it very clear into this. He said did anyone else get the feel that this commercial was extra sexual? Like, all of a sudden, it just like you kept seeing it just open up and it's like, yeah, we have this feature, yeah, we got this.
Speaker 3:I'm sitting like I didn't think about it like that. Maybe that's why I felt uncomfortable, because I'm like what? The canadian rapper is claiming that the label spread false and malicious narrative that he is a pedophile, and claims that the label promoted the track to have leverage in future contract negotiations and to tarnish his brand. And I'm sitting there like oh this, but hold on, we'll get there. Meanwhile, with kindred, he announced that him and his former label may caesar as his special guest at the 2025 super bowl halftime show performance, so I would not be surprised if a certain song is playing during that.
