Welcome to the Zone Podcast, the show about nerdy news and reviews. I'm Jet Black Extreme feel free to call me JD and today's topic is a cartoon that definitely deserves its flowers. Today's topic is Danny Phantom, and joining me for this review is Playboy and Cy Thomas Mask. So, without further ado, let's go ghost danny phantom man. Listen, butch hartman, my dude, it's like you went from fairly odd parent to danny phantom and I'm sitting here like this. This one, this is the one of those cartoons that had that sauce. You know, kind of like with ben ben, to where it felt like a sleeper MVP in cartoon animation, to where it seemed like, okay, it kind of set up a little slow. It's like it had a little potential in the beginning. It's like kind of slow burn. But as soon as they got plot heavy, I'm like, ooh, that sauce. Y'all drizzling that sauce on it now, especially with Evil Danny, I'm like yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they fucking cooked.
Speaker 1:And look, they never miss with those villains too, Like every villain that popped up, like design-wise and plot-wise, yeah.
Speaker 2:But those some OPS ghosts thinking about that shit and I'm like I don't think the Ghostbusters could have handled half of those monsters.
Speaker 1:Yeah, like Vlad and some of the others, would have definitely gave the Ghostbusters a run for their money. Like man, Scooby-Doo in the game, wouldn't know what to do with these ghosts.
Speaker 2:Oh fuck no, Don't pull no mask off. They gonna snatch your head. Ain't wouldn't know what to do with these ghosts? Oh fuck no People pulling their mask off. They gonna snatch your head off, yeah.
Speaker 4:Shit. And then you bring out the wishing ghost and it's like it's bitch.
Speaker 1:Honestly bro, thinking about it, Danny Phantom was more probably audience towards teenagers, because that shit could get dark if it wanted to now listen like from from jump episode one, six, three, nine, go back and watch episode one to where there was this one part where they got like really woke, like really like oh shit, hold on. Like they kind of breaking the mold on the usual shit that we normally see on tv, at least back in like the early 2000s, like mid 2000s. But hear me out that one line where uh, dash the bully, uh was like look here, these are the best years of my life and you're gonna let me have this. And it's almost like it was this running gag to where dash knows that his life is gonna turn to shit after high school but he's trying to live in the moment Now. So it's like let him go ahead and like bully the Nerds and be the captain Of the football team and all that other shit, because eventually he's just gonna have this mediocre life with A dead end job, probably on a wife that he probably could have done better.
Speaker 1:But nah, or maybe it's one of those things where the wife is kind of hot but then again she's thinking like oh man, you were uh way better when you're in your own prime and some shit like that. You know, like those typical sitcom type things where like, uh, captain, the football team um marries the hottest chick in high school but it's like, while the dude kind of like let himself go, the wife is still kind of hot and she could step out on him if she wanted to, but kind of sticks around for some reason. I don't know.
Speaker 1:And funny thing is that's kind of the case with Jack and maddie too, where it's like um jack can be an idiot sometimes, but I'm like man, listen, he must be laying down some serious pipe. Because there was like one episode where while um danny and jazz was like out of the house and he and um maddie was playing checkers but but she was like thinking, oh, like we all alone, like what you trying to get into, and he was like you know who I'm trying to get into, let's get that checkerboard out. I was like man, motherfucker.
Speaker 2:Yeah, see, even back then I knew Like you can cut all that shit, sweep it under the rug or whatever you want to call it, but they definitely threw those jokes in there.
Speaker 2:That's why I say like that shit was audience towards teens, bro, because I knew back then, like it caught me off guard. I vaguely remember, like I remember, that part of an episode I can't even tell you what episode that con was on, but I remember that part because I'm thinking it was going to be some like some like I. But I remember that part because I'm thinking it was going to be some like some like I don't even want to say it about a fucking cartoon, but I just thought it was going to be some like shit going on with them parents and the kids out, like you know this is going. And then you pull out that fucking board and I'm like okay, okay, that's a way to put it, on Nickelodeon, I guess. But as an adult I kind of know where you were going with this. You know goddamn well, they could have pulled that checkerboard out for family night with everybody there, but you want to pull out when the kids leave, come on Right.
Speaker 1:I'm like that sounds very unrealistic. I'm like you could have done that any time. Motherfucker, like you really need the kids out to play checkers.
Speaker 2:No, I'm not buying that. I get it Because, look, look, the kids were still watching us, the audience, we were still watching them, the fourth wall. They were like, nah, they were still looking they were playing checkers, they were playing twister we were ghost busting quote unquote
Speaker 4:we're busting ghosts we were busting something not, not, not, not the witty banters of the fucking show. They would come up with some witty ass banters that would make them go god damn bro, especially from Sam these banters on the fucking show. They would come up with some witty ass banters that it makes you go god damn, bro, especially from sam and from sam. You're not spider-man, bro, just look at you. Shut the fuck up.
Speaker 1:No, why are you playing like why does danny phantom kind of give you like spider-man vibes, you know like narratively, like it just seems like okay, um, he's outside of being Danny Phantom. He's like average kid Gets bullied. He got a crush on this hot girl, but that hot girl ain't even feeling him Honestly. Fuck Paulina, by the way. In fact he couldn't be on the show but he slipped me some notes and one of the notes he said fuck Dash and Paulina. I feel that, bro, like I uh fuck both of them like okay, dash, for obvious reasons, but paulina, I fucking hate her only mainly because, like every now and then she will like pretend to like danny just would fuck with sam, but in reality it's like she don't really like either one of them, but it's more like she's just petty enough to pretend to like Danny just to fuck with someone that she don't like.
Speaker 4:I'm like you don't have any better use of your time, like really she was the type of bitch that it was like I'm not eating, but I'm not gonna let you eat either. Right fucking. She was the type of bitch that it was like I'm not eating, but I'm not going to let you eat either. Right Fucking.
Speaker 1:It's like I don't want him, but I don't want you to be happy either.
Speaker 4:But like eventually, you know, at the end, at the end of the show, there kind of is a little something in between. But we all wanted that one person for Danny. It's like. I mean, it's not Paul, it's Sam.
Speaker 1:But she did give like some Mary Jane vibe you know how like she wasn't really feeling Danny Fenton, but she was in love with Danny Phantom. I'm like bro, that that, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4:Nobody fucking connected the dots either. Danny Phantom, danny Fenton only one person did it and it happens to be the fucking villain. Yeah. Oh well, you don't realize that. It's like how the fuck did you not, bitch, put the fucking like, put it together, put the dots together? What does it say? It says Danny Phantom, danny Fenton, like my son.
Speaker 1:Like they did do that later on in the series. But it just Wild how it took them that long To piece it together. I'm like damn we slow for real.
Speaker 4:Yeah, and straight up, danny did die. He does actually die. In that pod, in that chamber. He flat out died. It was massive amounts of gamma radiation. He died instantly.
Speaker 1:He's like a living Schrodinger's cat. He's literally half dead. He's still alive, but is he really?
Speaker 4:He's not alive anymore. That's a thing that people can debate on. He has a physical manifestation, yes, but in reality he's not alive anymore, he's dead. He's been dead the whole series. And then, when he meets his future self and his future self, okay, granted, this is because this is what, but his skin is all fucked up. Even he himself says that the way that he used to be died way long ago. So there was a comic book too. Yeah, a Glitch in.
Speaker 1:Time it took place after the series finale of the cartoon and it still followed the one with evil danny in there.
Speaker 4:so I was like damn, I need to still catch that comic book bro yeah, exactly, and it gives a little bit of more detail about like evil danny and you know, I I feel like evil Danny when he got to good Danny's universe.
Speaker 4:I feel as though he, he was overpowered, but I feel like he held back a lot because you can't. I mean, okay, granted, he had a lot of power, yeah, he had Danny had a lot of help. He had a lot of power, yeah, he had Danny had a lot of help. He had a lot of firepower, yes, but I feel like Evil Danny still held back.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean like, let's be real, like even the first encounter, like he could've ended past Danny if he wanted to.
Speaker 4:but I think he was smart enough to realize Dude, exactly, he could have ended him right there.
Speaker 1:So he was smart enough to realize that hey, if I kill you, then I won't exist and I need you to be alive so that I can exist.
Speaker 4:Well, and that's the thing, cause.
Speaker 1:So would you say that Evil Danny only lost because of plot?
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 4:He lost basically because of plot, because you can't tell me that, okay, granted, danny had preparation, they were able to get ready to take care of this guy, but Evil Danny could have ended it on the first encounter.
Speaker 1:And he was watching him.
Speaker 4:The whole time.
Speaker 1:Evil Danny got the Zamasu treatment. It's like, oh man, you know what? We can't do anything with these guys, let's just seal them up. Outside of time, we just can't destroy them outright. You just gotta seal them up.
Speaker 4:And they were showing in the comic how he was evil, like perfecting his whale, and how it very much affected the ghost realm, because even his howl was more than enough to distort everything in the ghost realm. So in or out, he was a fucking problem.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:But damn, the only thing I hated about the whole thing was that it was mid-season of season two. I'm like that felt like a finale, like that could have been, like the finale. I'm like, oh yeah, that was like a perfect way. If you, butch harman, if you were to have ended it right then and there on those two episodes I was like you know, I'm not even mad, but here's the funny thing about that.
Speaker 1:The only reason why Danny Phantom was no longer running was not because Butch Hartman didn't want to do it. In fact he even went on TikTok and said, hey, yo, I could have done Danny Phantom for 10, 20 years. But it was Nickelodeon that said, no, we can't let you do any more than three seasons. But it was mainly because the animation was going over budget. But I can see that, because you normally don't see animation this good on a nickelodeon show. Well, cartoon nickelodeon show, um, that often like yeah, every now and then. But like the animation for danny phantom was way more impressive. Honestly, to where? Like I mean by early 2000 standards, like it was like gas for early 2000 standards, like, even to this day it's still good, but I'm just saying like it's not super spectacular compared to today's standards, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4:It was phenomenal animation For what it was 2D animation type of thing. I very much thought it was great.
Speaker 1:You can tell they tried with it.
Speaker 4:Yeah, and if you bring it back, like they brought back belly-off parents, you can definitely bring back Danny Phantom.
Speaker 1:I mean he want to do it, but you know, you just got to get the platform and all that. So all I'm thinking is OK, first of all, it's same thing with Fairly Oddparents. You can just put that shit straight on Paramount Plus. All right, now we got to figure out, ok, who still wants it to happen. Uh, now we gotta figure out, okay, who still wants it to happen.
Speaker 1:Like, okay, are people still buying the toys or the video games? Like, really, I say like they need to put out something. Well, you know, more comic books for starters. Like, if there's like more comic book sales, then maybe we'll get more uh money going in for animation and other shit to where, like, we get a straight up revival at that point where, okay, there was like enough uh crowdfunding and whatnot to get like a legit danny phantom sequel animation going. So I would love that if that were to happen. So it's like I mean, yeah, but uh, let me run through some of these notes that hookah got to send me.
Speaker 1:Like for starters, he was saying how he wish that danny and valerie worked out. I'm like I kind of get it like they were kind of cute together and I did like her story arc with her riches to rags type thing, because remember she was like one of the rich girls but um, shit went, um left in that one episode where that dog showed up and danny tried to um deal with it but he just kept wrecking everything, like whether it's on valerie's dad's job or her stuff, and like it's like dann, danny kind of indirectly Ruined her life and she became a ghost Hunter. In Response to that, and Speaking of which, damn, near everybody's family Was rich in this show Like Listen, sam's family Was rich. I want to say dad's family Was rich. Paulina's family was rich. I want to say Dash's family was rich.
Speaker 1:Paulina's family got money. Hell, even with Danny. Think about it. How the fuck do they afford all those inventions and shit? It's not like they got a side job or anything, they just mainly tinker in the lab. So I'm like they must got that government funding.
Speaker 4:I was about to say. I was about to say that fucking government funding. I was about to say I was about to say that fucking government funding. There's no other way, because who the fuck has all this time and money to build all this shit?
Speaker 1:Jack Fenton had that Peter Griffin money. I'm like how the fuck can you afford this shit?
Speaker 4:It's simple, watson. It's very simple, watson Rob a bank. Okay, no, no, no, no, no, rob banks.
Speaker 1:Or better yet, you can just, you know, kind of take you know what I mean like Instead of just robbing. It's kind of like corporate takeover. You own the banks. You don't necessarily have to rob them. It's your money in the banks. You can do whatever you want with the money.
Speaker 4:Change your last name to Rothschild. I'm telling you it's $250 and before you know it, your net worth is like fucking 2.7 trillion. Come on, don't do that. Don't fucking do that. You're gonna get hunted down. But one of the things that I very much approve was the diversity that they had in Danny Phantom. They had multiple not only multiple ethnicities, but you had multiple characters who basically came from different sides of the world oh yeah, like uh, I remember Kwon like he was like an Asian jock in there exactly the American.
Speaker 4:You had Indy, you had a whole bunch of cultures. But oh my god, the thickness of the wish. No, listen, bunch of cultures, but oh my god, the thickness of the wish Ghost.
Speaker 1:Nah listen.
Speaker 2:Okay, let's talk about the ghost real quick Now hold on.
Speaker 1:Let's talk about the ghost real quick, since we're talking about Desiree First of all. Yes, I agree.
Speaker 4:Why you make so fun.
Speaker 1:But listen.
Speaker 4:I'll stay with you. I'll die right. Listen, I'll stay with you. I'll die. Right now I'm already halfway dead.
Speaker 1:But listen, if you were to ask me, like 20 years ago, how I feel about some of the female ghosts, I was like definitely Ember, but I'm like you know, I'm in my 30s, I can't really, because even if she's a ghost, I'm like um, that's kind of a treading line, you know. But definitely Spectra. Like I'm like why, what is up with these designs? Like hold on backtrack to Maddie. Like see, maddie gave me that Dexter's mom vibe, you know. Like why are you so thick? For no reason. Like I don't know.
Speaker 4:The Incredibles curves. Goddamn fucking Pixar type of curves. The fuck is this type of show?
Speaker 1:It's like either you're built like a bundle of sticks or you just got curves for days and I'm like it can go either way me.
Speaker 4:I saw ember the first time. I was like baby girl, I will get on that motorcycle right now and I'll fucking have a car crash with you.
Speaker 1:It's what I got it was like I will die right here, right now make me worse'm like you don't have to fix me. I'm like I can be worse.
Speaker 4:No, exactly, you don't have to fix me. I will be worse. You tell me right now what is it that I got to do? I'm not committing genocide, that's where I draw the line. But I will, however, pick a puppy. Where is he? Where's the little chow? I will will, however, pick a puppy. I. Where is he? Where's where's the little chow? I will fuck it. I will knock shit a fucking I don't know. I'll fucking square punch a cow in the face.
Speaker 1:I'll do shit like that, right, but you want someone knees broken, I got you I will fucking take a grandma and trip that bitch.
Speaker 4:Tell me what I gotta do, ember. I'll fuck it, I will. I'll shine your boots if I spit, dude, I'll do whatever. Simp, simp, simp, simp but uh, who else?
Speaker 1:okay, sam was cool, definitely, like she was like very well-rounded, like not only was she came from money, but like she was like athletic, she was good at video games and she was smart and all that. And I'm sitting there like Danny, like the whole, the full package, the all-in-one package, was like right there, dog, and she was like feeling him too. And then, you know, dan was kind of feeling her too, but he, he was the main one kind of warming up to it. But tug was just uh, third wheeling, talking about hey, man, listen, like when y'all gonna get together, I'm like we don't like each other like that. I'm like, bro, I'll like be giving like some serious side eye at that moment to where. I'm like, bro, you're, you're telling me y'all don't like each other, all right, uh, all right, beth. So, speaking of which, I need to go ahead and introduce somebody. What up, professor tucker foley, how you doing man?
Speaker 1:stuff welcome to the show. How you feeling about Danny Phantom, by the way.
Speaker 3:Well, that theme song by itself Is iconic, but Danny Phantom is also Equally iconic. Shout out to the DJ For making that. That theme song man, it's a good show from my childhood. Danny Phantom, the DJ for making that theme song man, it's a good show from my childhood. Danny Phantom, of course, fairly Odd Parents and Chalk Zone my top three from that era.
Speaker 1:Oh, we need to review Chalk Zone someday. You just reminded me. I'm putting that on the fucking list Chalk Zone.
Speaker 3:All three of those got iconic theme songs too, might I add. They was in their bag for theme songs back then. Now it ain't the same. That's the problem. That's why the kids is doing what they're doing, Because they ain't got no theme songs. You can't. They don't make theme songs like Arthur, no more. Come on now.
Speaker 1:I say hey, hey, what a wonderful time today.
Speaker 3:I'm like bro, what is?
Speaker 1:that that's so hard sing Dragon Tail.
Speaker 3:I just saw that shit last week, last week it ain't just the shows that was good in that era, like Danny Phantom, it was also the sitcoms. That's what made it good too. But yeah, I'm digging the show. The way they transform, like it's really great. That transformation was top three transformations Me with Mighty Morphin, power Rangers of course, and then, you know, I gotta give it to the long-ass Sailor Moon.
Speaker 1:Five the transformation. Yeah, yeah, oh, you know what, you know what? Saitama? I just remembered While we were talking about Ember and how, like, joking about what we do, like if we were like, if he ever needed us to do anything Like check this out, real shit, I'm today years old, finding out that there was this small YouTuber that went crazy for Ember. He had it so down bad for Ember he went on a literal murder spree.
Speaker 4:Can you blame him though I can't blame my bro here. I would do the same. I would do anything for Ember. Dude, I'll kill myself first and then I'll do whatever she wants. Dude, I'll do a fucking quadruple backflip into sharks. I will chew bubblegum off of the bottom of school chairs. Bitch, I will do whatever she wants.
Speaker 1:Bro you wild.
Speaker 4:Obviously there will be some limitations, okay, but I won't do that. That's not the shit we're. We're not going to do that. What we're going to do is we're going to double back a second and then we'll write some cheap stuff, things that I'm not going to do. But it's very small. It's very small, but you know who I would die for, just because. Do you guys remember what was the fucking name? Do you guys remember and this is only because I have major respect for this asshole do you guys remember what was the fucking name? He was like a detective, he was a ghost, a warden type of shit, let me A ghost detective, not detective Conan.
Speaker 1:I used to get your message. I mean, you know, know, because technically Yu Yu Hakusho is like Ghost Detective files, all my thinking like that.
Speaker 4:Give me two seconds. Two seconds. Yeah, he was like all dressed in white. Is this a cartoon?
Speaker 3:or anime.
Speaker 4:No, this is from Danny Phantom.
Speaker 1:Oh he was Ghost Danny Phantom.
Speaker 3:Oh, oh yeah, I don't know, it was that ghost that came out the locker right yeah.
Speaker 1:Oh.
Speaker 3:He had like a varsity jacket on, if I remember correctly.
Speaker 4:Yeah, and I only have major respect for him.
Speaker 1:Oh, gregor.
Speaker 4:He's not such a fucking ghost, but it was him and, surprisingly enough, the Hunter he uh. I gained a lot of respect for him when he decided to change, because he was like look, we have a common enemy, the worlds are starting to collide. We got to do something and in reality, I'm not going to be the hunter that I usually am, so I'm going to let you live. We should work together and he actually made a decent team up. He can make a good team up if he wasn't that much of an asshole. I don't know if you guys remember that wasn't that much of an asshole.
Speaker 1:I don't know if you guys remember that I was like thinking like a ghost detective yeah, he's all dressed in white, but whatever. The hunter, however Unless you're talking about Walker, the prison warden.
Speaker 4:That's the only dude in white. Ah, the prison warden yeah.
Speaker 1:Okay, I was like thinking, like okay.
Speaker 4:Loads of respect for that asshole. What the fuck yeah okay than the hunter dude I he was. He's cool like in reality. I think his character is really cool oh, I'm trying to think on who you talking about, yeah yeah, I think, I think it's pretty cool, but if he wasn't that much of a potentious dick, oh the clock guy, dude clockwork yeah, clockwork was cool like, especially the way he like changed, changed form.
Speaker 1:He's like a non-linear character in a way, to where he changed from a baby form to an adult form and an older form.
Speaker 4:Yeah, because he exists in all time and space. His body is constantly stuck in a loop between child, adult, aged man, deaf, child, and then over and over. His body is just in that constant loop of time and space. I his character is amazing.
Speaker 1:I love that you know what I gotta be honest with you box ghost kind of grew on me the more you saw him like at first I thought, okay, he's kind of annoying in like the first few episodes. But the more you saw him it's like okay, I kind of like that. He's kind of like one of those joke characters you know, like a toilinator from kids next door, where you're thinking like, oh well, he's like that joke character like no one takes seriously until he actually does something. That changed the whole fucking way we uh view him or like, at the very least, his potential. And Bosco Definitely had like some moments where, like Between with Pandora's box and remember that future Danny special To where he was like got Jacked and shit and he was like Beware, and I was like oh man, like okay, okay, he got like A little upgrade, that little push the upgrade Button on him. I'm like, oh man, I'm like okay, okay, he got like a little upgrade, that little push the upgrade button on him.
Speaker 1:I'm like, okay, okay, there was a whole bunch of people in Ghost that I liked, like Skulker, I definitely liked him, walker, ember, hold on, let me talk about Vlad a little bit. First of all, am I the only one who's thinking like? This dude is like he was like an insult before insult became a word, in a sense, to where, because you wanted maddie that bad, I mean like look, look, I understand, I understand black, but listen, like just let let it go, you know, and he would go as far as beefing with her son and manipulating her daughter. You remember that one episode where, uh, with the suit and all that, and uh, jazz was just trying to help danny now that she knows the secret, and trying to help danny with his ghost hunting. But then danny got a little annoyed because she was getting a little pushy, which is kind of fair. But then she was like she was just so upset that she decided that she needed to prove to Danny that she's useful by manipulating Vlad into helping her get the suit and help her be a better ghost hunter. And you know, it was a whole rigmarole, but whole point being is that vlad was willing to go to some very, very slimy tactics to fuck with danny, to fuck with jack, try to get with maddie.
Speaker 1:I'm like, and I really hated that jack was so innocent throughout the whole thing to where, like, he thought he thought like, oh, he's his buddy from college. But like Vlad, low-key, hated Jack the whole time. But it took the very last episode of Danny Phantom to where you know, phantom Planet, where Vlad kind of revealed all his cards because he assumed he was going to win but he lost big time. And then he revealed everything to jack and all that. And then jack was like, well, glad, was um, stranded like in the ghost zone or something like that, uh, or maybe like out in space.
Speaker 1:And well, I was like, hey, you want to leave behind an old buddy, right, I was like an old friend, no, but you, yes, I like that because I'm like, hey, man, you done fucked up bro. Like, uh, you had me for way too long. Because I'm like you are not gonna tell me you're going to try to take my wife away and also, you've been fighting my son this entire time. I'm like, no, like, I fucking love that for Jack. Like, that was like my favorite moment for Jack Like the moment where he finally realized that his so-called friend wasn't really his friend.
Speaker 4:Now, brad really wanted that ass. He really really wanted that ass. He wasn't hiding it, he really wasn't. And us, we could've caught it really quick, jack, come on, buddy. Buddy, can't you see he's smelling her arms? Smack this motherfucker out here.
Speaker 1:Bro, he had a bad life Plain to do, you know, like with the AI girlfriend. But you know how some dudes Will make like an AI version of the girl that they're pining for and it's like just comes off kind of creepy and like that, that was his problem. He just made it sound like, oh well, I'm just gonna have this AI pretend to be. Like that was his problem. It's like he just made it sound like, oh well, I'm just gonna have this AI Pretend to be my wife and low key, this, the only person that considers you his friend. I'm like, see, that's why I do not feel Bad for Vlad at all Like he could have had A redemption art, but he just chose to get worse. He. He's a perfect example of a negative change art, kind of like with Zamasu once again. Like where it just seemed like ever since Zamasu learned about mortals and whatnot, he just became worse and worse as a being. And the same thing Blatch, where ever since he got his accident, it's like he's became worse and worse as a person, even though he had chances to turn things around. But you know, he's just committed to being evil, so fuck him. I'm reading more of Kokegatsu's notes. He's saying that he hated Johnny 13. I don't blame him because, especially the way he treated Kitty, it's kind of like a Joker and Harley kind of vibe going on there, speaking of which Ember and Kitty teaming up. I like that. I like that team up.
Speaker 1:People were saying that the Evil Danny special should have been the series finale. I literally said that instead of Phantom Planet. But it wasn't supposed to be the series ender. I get that, yeah, but still it just felt like a final. You know the kind of finale, that kind of wraps things, everything. I'm like I would have been cool with that, but you know, not even Butch Hartman saw it coming. But it's all good.
Speaker 1:Ghost Wall was made Overpowered on purpose, as it was Supposed to be similar to Superman's laser vision. The more Stronger you use it, the more it drains the user's power source. Danny's ghost energy and Superman's Ultraviolet energy, okay, okay. And then the evil Danny special was surprisingly hated by some people. Fun to watch but made no sense in the long run. And here is why Clockwork could have stopped the evil future Danny. He violated the timeline. Danny's ghost being evil made no sense because in a previous episode in the same season, before the movie, ghost, danny wanted to be a superhero.
Speaker 1:Vlad, who always has a failsafe, didn't prepare one for after he extracted Danny's ghost. What was going on? What was Sorry? What was going to do with the ghost of it was Goddamn Kokugasu. I need to get on to you about your Typing. Like essentially he was like wondering you had a fail safe but you didn't prepare for Danny, like trying to hijack your body To gain more power. You didn't plan that out. And also, ghost killed Danny, but not Vlad.
Speaker 1:I'm like, yeah, when you think about it, the premise didn't line up with the canon, so it's either an alternate timeline or Hardman just forgot when writing the story. I think it's honestly one of those things where it's like a what if? Situation, so it can be treated as non-canon, but it is well. He didn't dismiss it as non-canon, so it is canon to proven otherwise. But I guess you can say just one of those things where it can be its own thing, like kind of like how the whole show isn't really serialized, it's like mostly one shots and it's like every now and then does it have like continuity, like with the whole thing, with the logo, how like, uh, danny wanted to get rid of his powers once again.
Speaker 1:Spider-man, you know spider-man 2. Uh, peter parker wanted to have a normal life again so he kind of got rid of the whole. He definitely did that twice when you think about it. But point being is that he wanted to abandon the life of being a superhero. So he went back into Ghostport and all that rigmarole and he got that logo on, thanks to Sam, and that was a whole paradox there. But, yeah, these episodes, yeah, uh, these episodes. It wasn't really until like mid season two where, yeah, things gonna have more continuity. But a lot of these episodes you can see them as well. Even the two part or the hour long special you can see them as. Oh well, you know it could have been its own thing, but until well, damn, because with the comic book you can't really say that the whole evil Danny hour long special is non-canon, because they're actually trying to run with that now. So I kind of understand Kokuyasu, but eh, it is what it is. I like it for what it is.
Speaker 3:I like the comics because it got the crossover with the Fairly Oddparents, fairly Oddphantom, and it's dope. But Butch Hartman always wanted to crossover all his shows though, so I mean.
Speaker 1:Even with Tough Puppy.
Speaker 3:Yup. Yo he was doing um like fairly odd, fairly apparent style, um stuff for anime. He did danny phantom style stuff for anime like it was dope.
Speaker 1:He did it like naruto style too yeah, I like how he does uh different characters and his own. I like it when uh creator do that like uh he's not the only one that does it, you know like with anime, uh, mangaka, where it's like uh, I have great respect for you, so I'm just gonna draw your characters in my art style. You know, they kind of do it every now and then. I like that uh, but I, I do like butch hartman's art style. I'm not going to lie.
Speaker 3:It's kind of simple, but it's also like it wasn't on the eyes, honestly, yeah and when Toriyama passed, he did it in Dragon Ball Z style and it was dope.
Speaker 1:Was there anything else, bro? Danny Phantom Is there. Oh, let me talk about Tuck Tucker. Excuse me, man, can I just say that there was like two times when he had power, but in different extent, like the first time when he became half ghost Like Danny, and I think it was like with Desiree, the wishing ghost too. That was the first episode she showed Up in Between that episode and the episode where he finds Out that oh, he's the descendant of a pharaoh and he gets a scepter and he Just goes mad with power. I feel Like Tucker, I don't know of a pharaoh and he get the scepter and he just go mad with power. I feel like tucker, I don't know, he's kind of like a low-key slime ball sometimes, but not in a listen, listen a little too close to home listen because no great name.
Speaker 1:Nah, nah, nah, hold on. How about this man literally said that oh that one girl uh got, no, uh, nobody go to the dance with. She's weak and vulnerable. Let me go ahead and shoot my shot. I'm like, bro, like you're like a lion trying to eat a wounded gazelle. I'm like bro he low key.
Speaker 3:He low key, like like Ron in Harry Potter. He be jealous, but like's just a side character. I don't know what to tell you, my boy.
Speaker 1:I mean, I kind of get that. It's kind of like Carl from Jimmy Neutron to where, like, yeah, he's a side character, but every now and then, Carl be like man, I'm smarter than Jimmy.
Speaker 3:I'm like bitch, what's the other one, the other guy from Jimmy Neutron?
Speaker 1:Ashene.
Speaker 3:Oh, no, no, no, it's Carl Carl be getting mad, sometimes like he's getting mad out of nowhere.
Speaker 1:You have that one friend that's like a Low key hater. I'm like when is this coming from? Hey, for real, like you just gotta. Like yeah, you gotta have some character development.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's like this low-key grudge on me. I'm like, is this something you wanna talk about, bro? But yeah, I just wanted to point that out because I'm like sometimes like uh, tucker, be on some stuff, shit. But then again, like uh tucker be on some stuff, but then again like he do be helping out, like with the whole pda thing, like when skulker like took his pda, like hooked up his own shit, he got upgrades. But I'm like, oh well, I can still uh hack into your system and make you do push-ups, or you know the whole thing with the purple bat gorilla and all that.
Speaker 1:And there was a whole other thing with technus to where tucker uploaded that software into technus systems, where he can kind of manipulate technus or kind of shut him down to its way. It's kind of weird how tucker can be the foil to two of danny's recurring villains. I'm like, so yeah, tucker, have like redeeming qualities. But every now and then I'm like I'm on to you, buddy, you need to be under watch or something like somebody to watch you, bro, because sometimes you just I don't know.
Speaker 3:No, I agree.
Speaker 1:Hold on, who else I did like when Danny showed up, you know his cousin Like Another thing why I don't like Blab To where, oh well, you were a mistake. I was trying to make a boy. I'm like, oh, I was a mistake daddy. I was like no, no, honey, like you were perfect. You know my grace grief. Like nah, fuck all that. And then he kind of dropped character like not even five minutes later, talking about you will do what I say. I was like you don't talk to me like that.
Speaker 1:I'm just gonna fuck up your plans. Now. I like her. She was cool.
Speaker 4:She was a great addition to the show and I'm saddened by the fact that they didn't do much with her.
Speaker 1:Saddened me a little. She only showed up like twice. I'm like like that's bad, but I mean once again he Bush Hartman, didn't know that Danny Fanta was going to get dropped, because if it kept going we probably would have saw more of her. But damn Still though.
Speaker 4:Same, I mean she still had the same ghost powers as Danny, it's just that hers weren't as better developed as Danny was. She could still do everything else and she could fucking pack a punch, but like not as good as Danny did, and I feel like they should have given her a little bit more love, right?
Speaker 1:um, what else I was going to mention about this show? Um, there were like some characters that showed up every once in a while and they seemed cool. I kind of want to see more of them, like that one werewolf goes wolf. I liked him, he was cool.
Speaker 4:You mean, like Thomas Smash takes a big ass bong hit. Yeah, you know what I love that episode.
Speaker 1:Let me know. Oh man, like I'm trying to remember this, one other ghost that showed up and he was like a pretty cool addition to the whole shit, but, um, I'm kind of forgetting. Uh, what up, what up side something, what you got a weed ghost.
Speaker 4:That shit is terrifying as fuck. Come carry me, fuck it, lose my mind here. Shit. Um, what other ghost was actually really good? I had a few. Um, what about the pirate kid?
Speaker 1:I felt oh uh, captain kid, or what was it?
Speaker 4:yeah, it was a little captain guy I I feel bad for him Because you end up finding out what he really died from, and it's sad Because his story revolves around him being the only child around.
Speaker 1:Oh, youngblood, that was his name, yeah, but that was kind of sad.
Speaker 4:It was sad and you end up finding out how a lot of these people died. Box Ghost died in a warehouse. Ember died in a fire. The Captain died from drowning. Hunter died in a hunting accident which might have not been. Hunter died in a hunting accident which Might have not been An accident because of his Violent tendencies.
Speaker 1:Let me guess he got killed by electrocution or something. Say what? And it got electrocuted or something.
Speaker 4:Um, we don't know, we don't really know, but the warden got killed during a riot inside of a prison and he got beaten to death. That's why he takes his job even more serious.
Speaker 1:Hey yo real quick. I'm also today years old, learning that Youngblood was voiced by Taylor Lautner. You know from Jacob from Twilight.
Speaker 2:I'm like really yeah what the fuck was that shit all about?
Speaker 1:I'm like, bro, like I did not record, I mean I guess it, bro, like I did not reckon. I mean I guess it was like a younger version of him, like before he kind of popped off, because keep in mind that he was on Twilight in 2008, right, and Danny Pantin was like way before then. So this, like I want to say this, like during his Sharkboy and Lavagirl era, I guess, wow, sharkboy and Lava Girl era. I guess?
Speaker 4:Oh, Sharkboy and Lava Girl. That brings me back. My back hurts. We're fucking spy kids.
Speaker 1:Man. We still need to review those movies, by the way, Even though, honestly, I'm not going to lie. I want to say they, they kinda didn't age well here and there.
Speaker 4:But I wanna say, certain moments are still good, they aged horribly, they fucking aged horribly, dude.
Speaker 1:I'm like I'm sorry. I'm like I still like them for what they are, but I can't just go back and be like, oh yeah, it still holds up. Not like Danny Phantom, where you can go back and watch this show and be like, oh yeah, it still holds up. Not like Danny Phantom, where you can go back and watch this show and be like, oh hell, yeah, I can't make a whole afternoon after watching these episodes.
Speaker 4:No, dude. One of the episodes that I found really interesting was Do you remember? Well, obviously, do you remember the episode where Ember first comes in? Do you remember her song? Do y'all remember her song? I it's sitting on the back of my head and I can't remember it it's like Ember, you will remember, or something like that and it was a fucking banger.
Speaker 1:You will remember Manny.
Speaker 4:Yeah, do you remember the fucking the Chip Skylark song? My Shiny Teeth and Me? Yeah, it was about there, but I decided to rebrand it as my Shiny Head and Me, thank you. Thank you for laughing. I appreciate that. I appreciate the laughter. I decided to rebrand it as my Shiny Head and Me with my bald ass head, so you know, you can mix up the words around and I guarantee you it'll fit.
Speaker 1:No, I'm feeling that, I'm definitely feeling that Like bro, like that could be like an instant Bob, honestly, Thank you.
Speaker 4:Thank you. Bald people will appreciate me and I will be their savior, their bald head savior. Sorry, I'm trying to scoop up some weed here so you can keep us going. Floyd, you can jump at any time. I'm just trying to make sure that's nice and packed here. I want to get enough of that nice Hail Mary here. While I'm doing that, what about? Fuck me dude? There was this, this thing, the fucking canister, that they would use the thermos, the fucking thermos, to pick up ghosts. And it was an actual, it was a literal thermos. Hey, up ghosts.
Speaker 1:And it was an actual, it was a literal thermos hey, you know what you just reminded me of a good point that I was just thinking, like, think about like this okay, so jack and maddie are ghost hunters and even with danny phantom he's no exception, right, and they took, you know, like they were like really slow trying to figure out, um, danny fenton with danny phantom, but the whole thing is is like you would think that they would feel bad for hunting down their own son, but you know, to be fair, they were doing their job.
Speaker 1:Then he was keeping it secret from even them because you know, like ghost hunters, even jazz even pointed that out in the freak show episode. By the way, the fact that they use the reality gauntlet, which is like a really obvious on the nose reference to the infinity gauntlet, which once again proves that danny phantom have that comic book sauce, but that's beside the point. Uh, point being is that I just like how, with all the inventions which, by the way, a lot of those inventions work, even though some of them had like balls and whatnot uh, a lot of those inventions work. But out of all those inventions and creations that jack and maddie made, the best one out of all of them was the children oh, how cute, how, how, how fucking cute.
Speaker 4:Me being a parent, I mean that is. That is like the best gift that you can offer me, to be honest, but uh.
Speaker 1:I mean think about it like Danny Phantom is like pretty much the world's greatest ghost hunter and the son of Jack and Matty Phantom so like they can the world's greatest ghost hunter and the son of Jack and Manny Phantom, so like they can feel pride in that. And also Jazz was like a sleeper MVP every now and then in some Jazz-centric episodes so like she did kind of carry here and there. So I'm like, hey man, listen, like I know y'all kind of like was kind of bumbling here and there, but ultimately y'all can be proud knowing that your kids kind of take after y'all in a sense.
Speaker 1:Well, they did rely on your technology to help them out every now and then too, so keep that in mind. They actually needed your help.
Speaker 4:Especially when Vlad started pulling up their bullshit out of fucking nowhere. Yeah, especially when Vlad started pulling up his bullshit out of fucking nowhere yeah, he kept Vlad from hurting the family multiple times. Yeah, this is exactly what I needed. I'm going to take a hit One second.
Speaker 1:Man, like I'm not trying to say too much or, at the same time, I'm not trying to say too little because this show is so great. I just want everybody that's listening to this episode to hey, man, give this um series a chance if you haven't watched it before. Like, because I know some people are like what's Danny Phantom? I'm like, hey, bro, listen, make a whole weekend out of this TV show. It's like it's really good. Like you're thinking, like bro, like this was back on in like the early 2000s. I'm like, yeah, man, it's like it's still good even to this day. So, like, not only that, but I feel like the more people that's listening to this episode in particular, the more it shows that a lot of people still want Danny fans to be a thing in some form or fashion.
Speaker 1:Like we still want more comic books, we're still gonna want more of the animation. Like, bring out some more toys. Or like more merch. Or like a new video game. To where, like you know, like I want to say same thing with ben 10 to where, if y'all like revive those two ips, like y'all can straight up go into the adult route. To where, like, well, not like super adult, like, uh, I mean you can get dark if you want to, but what I meant by adult is like, and don't have to be like in their mid or late 20s. I'm like they can be like in their college years.
Speaker 4:I'm like okay to be honest, I I have a lot of beef with, uh, with ben 10 after, after like a certain season. After that it was just flat out garbage and I have I have a lot season after that. It was just flat out garbage and I have a lot of beef with that because Ben 10 was great as it was. And then when they did Future Ben the first time that it's like you get this cool, I can use my forms while still maintaining a human body type of thing, I thought that was really fucking cool. That's all they needed to keep doing. And then they took a fucking weird-ass turn after the whole season with Alien X the first time. After that they made Alien X with a big-ass chin. I swear to God, I thought it was the first chin at one point.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I swear to God, I thought it was the first chin at one point.
Speaker 4:Yeah, I swear to God, I thought it was like the fucking Crimson shit. I love the fact that they decided to bring Alien X into a different perspective and showing how, like you know, they were very people. Okay, so not the point I'm trying to get at. Danny deserves to be brought back because they didn't fuck it up after that. Like they didn't fuck it up after that, they didn't put a second season where, well, they did actually do they did do Rigboop.
Speaker 1:They did a couple seasons.
Speaker 4:I'm trying to get at it. They didn't pop a season out where they changed the artists, they changed the animators, they changed basically companies and they just started ruining it, honestly Making it. Just start ruining it, honestly Making it just To watch.
Speaker 2:And it's like that for me.
Speaker 1:Listen, I'm going to be honest with you. I was in the same boat when it first came out, but after some retrospective and like preparing for the Ben 10 Extreme Review that's going to be happening in March, listen, I found out that not only was the change in animation canon like there's like one episode where, like, they actually addressed the fact that the animation has changed and that there's like some reason why they changed up the animation but also, like, bro, I was kind of like floored when I was talking to Talos and how I'm finding out that, oh yeah, like Playboy, you remember this Like when we were talking about how, oh, with the Omnitrix, the wearer is pretty much immortal. To where, like, if the wearer dies, the Omnitrix can like rebuild your DNA. To where, like, it'll act like you never died. And I'm like bro, like add, like you never die.
Speaker 1:And I'm like bro, like where'd you find this? I was like, oh, it was an omniverse. They say an omniverse. What the? The one season I dropped, they said that in omniverse. Like bro, really, all right yeah, that's op.
Speaker 2:I mean you can't really rule that out, considering the history of the omnitrix and then how? Okay. So listen, you know how long. You know if you wear a watch right just for like a day you work and you take it off and you know how it kind of like matches your skin, like the watch kind of imprints itself on your wrist. Imagine wearing the omni trips for like years. I'm pretty sure that shit picked up his dna more over, like multiple times, to be able to clone them if possible. So I don't really rule that out. Considering the watch was made by alien scientists, that shit. Probably I won't be surprised if that shit could control him yeah like take over.
Speaker 2:I won't even be surprised the omnitrix is busted.
Speaker 1:I mean technically, it kind of it almost did with ghost Ghost Freak. To where you know, ghost Freak was just a sample of well, it was supposed to be a sample of an alien, but it turns out he actually like scanned an actual alien and kind of like trapped it in the Omnitrix and Ghost Freak could have like took over Ben's body and like did whatever he wanted with the Omnitrix.
Speaker 4:There's a whole lore for that asshole. Yeah, it had to be the biggest dick in the whole fucking show.
Speaker 1:I was not.
Speaker 4:I liked his first form better, by the way, say what.
Speaker 1:I liked his first form better, by the way, like when he was transforming, I was like ugh, why Turn it back Go? I was like home. I was like change the fuck back right now.
Speaker 4:So when they decided to put his face upside, down.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's like bro why. That's some scary ass shit. Okay, the tendrils was one thing, but the face that killed it for me Like why?
Speaker 4:Well, see, we gotta leave that for another review entirely.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we'll get there. Um, anything else About Danny Phantom like Okay, I did like the whole Valerie Ghost hunter art that she was going On to where, like yeah, she Was hunting ghosts ever since Ghost pretty much ruined her life and I kind of like the upgrade to her too. Like she was kind of looking like oh, a uh, russian Spy in the first one but the second one Is kind of like the upgrade to her suit. Like she was kind of looking like a Russian spy in the first one but the second one is kind of like a black and red techno suit and I'm like, okay, cool, cool, cool.
Speaker 1:And honestly I would say that Danny and Valerie once again, like I said before, I thought it was cute, I would have rolled with it. I thought it was cute, I would have rolled with it. But then again it was kind of like that Spider-Man vibe, to where you know how the main character have like this low-key harem of women that he could hook up with. But like, let's just be real, we already knew the best girl in the whole show was right under his nose the whole time. It was like you know, one of those childhood proximity type things.
Speaker 4:Now that you mention it there was a weird harem thing going on in Daddy Phantom at one point it wasn't 3-4, but it's almost like it could have gone either way. Yeah, it could have, but damn, because you had Sam. Then there was the wishing ghost, there was Ember, there was Kitty.
Speaker 1:I wouldn't even have said the ghost. I'm like they were like nemesis, but like, uh, I'm like okay, if it was like one of those things like kind of like oh, how Batman and Catwoman had this thing. Or like you know, spider-man and Black Cat were like, yeah, they're like enemies, but they kind of like this weird romantic chemistry too well, yeah, that was, that was kind of what was happening.
Speaker 4:Um, yeah, I'm just gonna say, I'm just gonna say quiet on that one, but uh, no, you're right, you're definitely right yeah, like I was like I don't know.
Speaker 1:I mean I would have liked it, but because it wasn't that obvious in the animation, like I can't I don't know about that for sure, but like if only the show came back and they kind of explored on that to where it's like I don't know, like you know, like they'll just come back and then some of the female ghosts I'm like you know what ghost boy We've been fighting all this whole time. Man, I've been noticing you.
Speaker 4:I'm like whoa, what you talking about Like hey, there, this is PG-13. We got to numb that shit down bro.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's the main thing, because, like because it was on Nickelodeon broadcast television, to where there's not a whole lot they could've got away with. But all I'm saying is bring back Danny Phantom Like, age him up to like 18, 19. Well, hold on.
Speaker 4:He's 14 now. That'd be a weird video game. Hold on, hold on, hold on.
Speaker 1:Uh, he's 14 now, though that'd be a weird video game no, no, hold on, I'm not even on 18, 19, I want to say like senior year, I want to say at least a few years after the events of the um finale, like a few years, like he's like in senior year of high school and whatnot, um, jazz is already off to college and all the other shit. And this time, like bro, like if you're just putting it straight on paramount plus, you don't have to worry about. Oh, you gotta go by broadcast standards. I'm like bro, like if you want to go darker with it, more mature, you can do that. Like it's just straight to streaming for service. Like you can be like netflix and be like hey, yeah, like, since, like, uh, it's on the streaming service and as long as they're like parental controls on it, like it's not like the kids can see any programming that they're not supposed to be seeing. So, yeah, like, go ahead, put it on there. Ah, was there anything?
Speaker 4:I personally, I think that would be pretty cool, but um Damn, they had all the chance In the world To bring back Danny Fantom Let it keep rolling and they missed out on a great opportunity.
Speaker 1:Let's be real, there's a lot of shows that came up before his timeline. I want to say Symbiote, titan kind of comes to mind Wow, Titan man.
Speaker 4:Wow, that's way that's back. Wow, Symbiote Titan Dang way that's a back. Wow, semiotic titan dang. That was a great show that one.
Speaker 1:Uh generator rex. Uh secret saturdays. Yeah, I'm sleepers, bro, like for real. What about marvin mystery? Yeah like there was like some real sleepers back in the day, but like they just didn't have the audience. That like see, that's the funny thing, like the good shows were out when these animations whatnot wasn't so popular. It wasn't like really popular to be like a nerd or liking anime and all that. But now that it's cool but at the same time it's man. It wasn't like back in the day though.
Speaker 4:It was always cool. It's just that people were being fucking hard asses. They didn't want to admit to the fact that these, that these shows were actually good. They were. They were actual bangers. They had amazing intros, they had a great fight, great character development on almost every single one of those shows, except for Marvin Mystery. We'll talk about that another day. But personally, generator Rex was a fucking huge ass banger to the point where it made a connection with another one of the best, if not the best, ben 10 series they were making. They mixed universes at one point and Ben was just going all out. That design, that design for Ben. They could have just left it at that, dude With Generator Rex, dude, that show was fucking awesome and they fucking Never finished it. And it pisses me off About the fucking. I'm not doing this. It's late, I haven't drank my my medication there. I'm not doing this. They had all the Damn the fucking world dude.
Speaker 1:Hey, man listen like a lot of shows. This is my most recent.
Speaker 4:High School Hike series.
Speaker 1:I feel like we're getting into that revival era, to where, like, a bunch of shows are coming back out of nowhere, like shows that like, okay, y'all haven't touched this IP in, like IP in like 10 or so years, 10, 20 years, like why y'all coming back for it now? I was like I like money look, I'm tired of watching Bluey.
Speaker 4:Okay, I'm so tired of watching Bluey, dude. I need these type of shows that makes me go. Yes, this is what we needed. This is what I needed.
Speaker 1:I wanna needed this. This is what I needed. I want to. To this day, I still want to be that asshole. Be like okay, whoever are thinking that animation just for kids and they just happen to have kids. I'm like all right, bet, I'm gonna write down this list, right, and I'm gonna slide to your kids like hey, so watch this in your free time. And I was like hold on what you doing hold on. But it's animations for kids, right, but oh, that's not. But no, no, no.
Speaker 4:Animations for kids, right, I'm like, but but oh no animations for kids right there was some early ass fucking good animes that Toonami was popping out alongside with Bent and Generator Brax and they were played about the same time as any fandom movie playing on the other channel. But they were cooking those years and, dude fuck, we're not getting that shit back. I hope you realize this. We're not getting that shit back. I hope you realize this. We're not getting, we're not getting that amazing flavor before. That's not happening like some shows.
Speaker 1:Unfortunately, I just don't imagine it coming back anytime soon. Like I was just saying the same thing about no game, no life. I know a lot of people want a season 2 but like, let's be real, dog, I I feel like one of those things where like uh, for some reason that's between that and a bunch of shows, like one show in particular, like I will never forgive netflix for this, the fact that they canceled inside job after two seasons. I'm like bro, that was going somewhere.
Speaker 4:You know, since you mentioned no Game, no Life, I could not, for the life of me, finish that show. You want to know what I? Just I don't know. I got weirded out at one point.
Speaker 1:What's that? Oh, whoa, hold on. I can imagine one reason.
Speaker 4:Yeah, I got weird it out at one point. I was like um, this is it, must, it's okay. Is this this? This is okay?
Speaker 1:yeah, no, we're trying to push in boundaries with it, but it never gets that far, honestly.
Speaker 4:Lines were there. Lines were there. They didn't cross it, but they were pretty close.
Speaker 1:And outside of that it was pretty funny, it was hilarious.
Speaker 4:It was fucking hilarious. Then the anime just kept getting better and better. At one point, but then it was.
Speaker 1:That's another thing. I was just talking to Mirajane about Irregular Magic High School not too long ago and how it's like a really good anime but the whole thing with the main characters that ruined it for me. That's the one thing that ruined it for me. I'm like I mean, I still like the show overall, but if it didn't have that element in there it would have been perfect. I would have recommended it to damn near anybody, but other than that I'd be like okay, I like this show but, fair warning, it gets a little weird here and there.
Speaker 4:But um, anything about Danny.
Speaker 1:Phantom. Y'all want to talk about.
Speaker 4:Uh, I'm good. I'm good on that Danny Phantom part. I'm good there.
Speaker 1:Gotcha Playboy. You got anything you want to add on, like any favorite moments from the show Um not in particular.
Speaker 2:It's been a while since I've seen it. I go back and check favorite moments. I just do know, like, as far as character wise goes, like character wise goes generally, like I do like danny phantom because he's like for me. I know this off topic, just a little bit, but I wanted to say earlier, when it comes to transformations and characters, he kind of reminds me of like a different, like a different form of Jake Long, american Dragon.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah.
Speaker 4:Oh yeah, american Dragon Jake Long. Yeah, I remember him.
Speaker 1:He kind of did have that same animation thing going on too it's just one is Disney and the other is Nickelodeon.
Speaker 2:You know what I mean?
Speaker 4:yeah, you keep throwing these. I feel old curveballs to me now.
Speaker 2:I just when I think of Danny Phantom and if I compare him to any other character, I don't know why Jake Long comes up. I have no idea, but I just nah, you know what?
Speaker 1:you know what does it for me? I keep thinking of Jack Frost from um Rise of the Guardians. You know that one 3D anime movie with um, he was like with the cane and what not. Like, yeah, I'm like. And also it doesn't help that Danny Phantom have ice powers now. So with the cane and whatnot, yeah, also, it doesn't help that Danny.
Speaker 4:Phantom have ice powers now OP and the fucking corrosive damage at one point for no reason.
Speaker 2:Ghost and ice. That's a fucking strong Pokemon dude.
Speaker 1:You know Alolan, ninetales, pokemon Unite. Need I say more? Ice, that's a fucking strong pokemon dude. But no, you know aloha and ninth hills. Need I say more?
Speaker 1:but no no, listen, listen, listen. That's another thing, that that's one of my gripes about danny phantom as a series where, like, even though once again I understand that it came out of nowhere why the show got dropped, but the fact that, oh, he has ice powers now and I'm like we're not going to see him explore that a little bit more, like, come on, like, nick, you could have gave us like one more season, but you know what that's it.
Speaker 1:That's all I got like. I mean, I know there's a lot more to danny phantom than that, but this is where I encourage the dear listener to just go ahead, watch the series in your own time if you haven't seen it before. But assuming that you clicked on this episode because you have seen it and you just want the nostalgia and all that, I understand. Like, tell your friends and family. Ayo, we need to revive this series because it was one of those shows back in the day that really deserved its flowers. So let's try to rally up the people and let the studios, or Butch Hartman, let everybody who needs to know, know that we want Danny Phantom back. So, with that being said, we're going to go ahead and close this episode out. I thank you, dear listener, for listening to us to the end, and I do thank you, saitama Smash and Playboy for joining me for this episode.
Speaker 1:We got some more reviews coming up. We got some more reviews coming up. We got a nerdy news special right around the corner. We're still working on our website, zonalionscom, where we're doing blogs. We're going to add merch by the end of the year and we're going to have some other activities going on, a whole lot of gang shit. But until the next episode you stay nerdy, my friend, and remember that great things are coming. You go ahead and have yourself a good morning, good afternoon and good night and take it easy. We're going ghost.
