Speaker 1:

Alright, nerds, it's time for another episode of the Zone Podcast With me. Today. We have Kokugatsu, Professor Tuck, Talos, Gundam, and we might be joined by Playboy and Saitama Blackbug We'll see. But for now it's time for a certified hood classic the Friday Trilogy.

Speaker 2:

Excuse me a moment real quick. I must say these words to y'all. In my mind, if it don't go that way, it ain't the best one. Anyway, really, really quick, because the residential Gundam is here to tell you right now, I ain't up for the nonsense of the malarkey today. So right now I am up here doing the most. I'm doing double duty. I'm not going to tell you what else I'm doing. I got stuff going on. However, comma, I will be here. Yeah, tuck, I'm looking at you. I'm looking at you because I promise you something egregious. Come out the way.

Speaker 4:

I'm telling you now, something egregious is going to come out the way.

Speaker 2:

But anyway, anyway. So let's bring it in. Da-da-da, da-da-da. Sports Center is live, ladies and gentlemen. So, as you already know, hand it back over to Jibbler. Yeah, yo, yeah too.

Speaker 1:

And without further ado, let's go ahead and zone in on this trilogy. So Friday in 1995, it all started with a recently fired and unemployed slacker named Craig Jones live in South Central LA. It's spending Friday with best friend Smokey, this small time drug peddler, and a pair of smoke up on this consignment of marijuana. You know the devil's letters. And Smokey was tasked to sell for his drug supplier, big Worm, and a whole bunch of shit happened like kind of snowball into this whole big shit. And let's go ahead and make this a round table discussion. How are you feeling about the first Friday movie?

Speaker 5:

Tuck, go ahead and start us off, because I'm curious to see what BS you got to say.

Speaker 4:

Well, you know it's Friday, we ain't got nothing to do. You ain't got no job, you ain't about to get too high.

Speaker 4:

Man. This is a certified classic bro. It's a banger. It's definitely a banger. You got so many quotables like it's hard to even exclaim how many it is. I'll give you an example. So I broke my leg. I got a knee scooter. I rolled around on my knee scooter all day at work to the point where everybody in there and, mind you, me and my assistant only black people in my entire office, everybody I wrote around they said, hey, dbo coming, y'all hear that squeak and tuck? Yup, it is me. It's so many quotables like hey, craig, can I borrow your microwave? It's just, it's just so good, I'm so happy. Come on now. Everything in it was iconic and it's crazy that the budget that they got paid for was insane.

Speaker 1:

I know it was Check this out. Speaking of which Tuck, the budget for this film was 3.5 million, but the box office was 27.4 million. That's pretty good back in 1995.

Speaker 4:

And they ain't getting. No, the actors, nobody got nothing on the back end. Yeah man, $500. According to Pops, Everybody got paid $500. That's what Pops said, bro, but who knows, you know.

Speaker 1:

I mean hold on. They did say that the film was more like it was creep. It was like a slow, burning sense to where it, how can I put this? It was like it had commercial success, of course, but it only obtained a large quote following like way after. It was like a silent success, in a way.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, and Rest in Peace, john, with a spoon, before I go any further with that. But yeah, man. And he's so portable in the movie too.

Speaker 1:

Also. Rest in Peace, D-bo you also a.

Speaker 4:

PO. Oh yeah, d-bo did pass, and Bernie.

Speaker 1:

Mac.

Speaker 4:

Oh man, I'm like that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 5:

I'm important also mentioned as well too. Somebody didn't even realize. I remember reading about this. The character played D-bo, apparently.

Speaker 5:

So something that was mentioned, not just for this movie but other movies that he's been in, is that a lot of people say that he was actually not easy to work with. Like he was actually as much as you see him in the movie, that like he kind of was like that, like he was still one of those dudes that was like he read his lines, but he was like he wasn't one to like, really joke with and other like that. So as far as like all the like everybody was afraid of D-bo type shit, apparently that fear was kind of real, cause he literally was just not that dude to fuck with and he's been like that and like a bunch of other movies as well too. But it's like that's and that's why he gets that role of like you know, pretty much the asshole that takes over everything is because even though he doesn't like take over, he just he's not. He was not easy to work with, apparently, but long as it came down to getting this paper, that that's the main thing, but why?

Speaker 5:

But I just wanted to mention that. But go ahead and go back y'all real quick. I'm actually trying to check on something real quick about that pay, because what ice cube two years ago actually talked about this because of the fact that he were accused of like oh yeah, pop says they only got paid $500. They got paid more than that Ice cube had receipts. So I'm trying to get make sure I refresh my brain on that before I talk about it.

Speaker 4:

So yeah, go ahead I'll bring up the just pops, Don't be remembering stuff. He got $500. No, he got $2,000. You know, nevertheless, compared to the, what the outcome was for the movie. They didn't get anything on the back end. Now, of course, that set up with a contract, so you're me and you could do it about that. And then you know it wasn't expected to be a cult classic anyway. You know they was just making a movie.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it was like essentially with some movies it comes out we not sure about it, we got to go watch it and it's actually pretty good. And then it gets so good that people are like, oh well, they liked it so much. Apparently we might as well work on a sequel. I thought they didn't do that well in the theaters, but I guess we just had to give it some time you know, and then you know the come up for all the character that was in the original Friday was kind of iconic.

Speaker 4:

You got Chris Tucker that's cute. Gina King, faze on Love, neil Long, john Witherspoon, bro, bernie Mac, bro, it goes on and on, bro. It was such an iconic movie, and especially seeing these current actors that's A and B list actors that are currently popping right now or have popped off, it's like dope how the setup was for it. It really brought back to a like a Harlem nights kind of thing, where you get so many different actors and comedians in one role and it just instantly clicks. Everybody really enjoyed making the movie too. Right, okay, yeah, yeah, I can believe that Bit one. Boy, are you going to have my money?

Speaker 1:

Oh, I'm killing you and him. What?

Speaker 2:

I do.

Speaker 1:

And I was like what do you say?

Speaker 2:

fuck me for Basically bro.

Speaker 4:

My favorite line from that movie bro, my grandma gave me that chain, what chain.

Speaker 5:

What chain? What chain? Yeah, no, chain is my chain, exactly. So also for one thing. So this is what wound up happening. So 2021 was in December. Literally, go figure was December 29th, so almost a whole like almost exactly two years ago. So I just want to make it a post on Twitter and then wanted to have an interview with it. His post literally reasons this. I didn't rob no fucking body. The 1995 Friday movie cost 2.3 mil to make 20 days Bayesian work. One day, maybe two. All the actors got paid scale to do the movie. They could have simply said no, but they didn't. So miss me with that shit.

Speaker 4:

So yeah, I'm not saying that, what's going?

Speaker 5:

on Exactly so. The thing about it was is that everybody was paid based upon how long they were there to record them, to make the movie. Everything wanted to be a shot in 20 days. I didn't know that.

Speaker 5:

So, what wound up happening was, for example, as far as like phase young, as far as like how he wanted to get paid, because he was kind of like compared like getting upset about that. If you don't remember who phase young love is, it's big word. He was one of the first ones to really kind of speak up into it, but he wasn't like upset. So he was in the first movie. He got paid $2,500, because that's only how much he was there. Obviously, you know, every time you see him you remember him, but he wasn't in the movie like that Like he was in the movie maybe about 5% of the time. That was about it. Oh yeah, In case.

Speaker 1:

Just to give you a little visual mental picture If you're still not familiar with phase young love. He was from the meteor man, don't be a menace. Baps L, the replacements made and couples retreat. And also he did Sean sweet Johnson and Grant up on San Andreas.

Speaker 5:

Yes, he did, that's right. Oh like you, just don't have to black movies. That's what he's not.

Speaker 1:

He was actually in the video game.

Speaker 5:

So there you go.

Speaker 1:

The more you know, there you go. Oh, he was.

Speaker 4:

The train.

Speaker 1:

He was also the voice of Robin Harris from baby's kids I'm looking at whole list. He was in a thin line between love and hate. The players club.

Speaker 4:

Oh yeah, he got a lot of cameos.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'll never forget bro.

Speaker 4:

That freaking mission, the train on, grant the photo send it.

Speaker 5:

That was down as the iconic one of the hardest missions in a video game period.

Speaker 2:

Bro, what?

Speaker 5:

The video has talked about it, playstation access has talked about it. And what was it Outside, outside Xbox, outside extra, because they had two sister channels. They wind up talking about it. Gaming network wind up talking about it. It is literally marked as one of the hardest levels in a video game period, like that's just how tough it is Because it's like it seems simple, but going full speed, constantly being like a tech all the time by big, big smokes all upon you about this, like bro, leave me alone, shut up.

Speaker 5:

All you do is call the train and see just shut up, make a shut up the Day From Home. Going through all of that and then, on top of that, keep in mind, like you ride on a motorbike, it's difficult to control. He sucks at his aim because you could be there and he can't shoot no motherfucking body down. And if you try to help him, you immediately slow down and you lose the train. So you have to let him do it by himself and you got to stay with the train. But you're on a time limit and it's like if you detier too far from the train, too much nonsense, hold on.

Speaker 5:

But one of the things. But phase one of talking about the reason he wound up not coming back to next Friday is because they wanted to give him double scale. He was still going to get about the same amount of runtime where he wouldn't get a whole lot of time into into the movie. But they did want him back in the second movie. But he turned it down because it was only $5,000. It was like he wanted him getting called to do that. He reads he also turned down it's only $5,000. But that's when he actually was doing the replacements. So you know, you just mentioned that JD.

Speaker 5:

He was actually filming the replacements at the same time that they were going to film next Friday, so that's why he wanted to turn it down. He's like I'm getting paid more money and have more runtime with this other movie. I just is one of the things. I just got to turn it down.

Speaker 4:

The replacement is good too, though.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you might do a review on that.

Speaker 4:

Oh yeah, oh wait, hold on, you ain't got to use that for maybe 3545 men here comes the hero for fun.

Speaker 1:

Sight time on black how you doing bro.

Speaker 3:

Yo, what's up? G Hi, G, G.

Speaker 1:

We doing good man Talking about Friday.

Speaker 3:

Where do I come in at?

Speaker 1:

We really just dive into the characters and whatnot. So you came at the perfect time. We really wasn't that deep into it yet.

Speaker 3:

Okay, I'm right on time. Let's go. I'm with you. Let's go.

Speaker 4:

I was just talking about how pops are so quotable bro.

Speaker 1:

Hold on. Yeah, it's a time maybe you can on time you might kind of faint on me. Hold on, I got you.

Speaker 4:

Can you hear me now?

Speaker 3:

Much better. Oh yeah, I was telling Professor Tuck he was going to eat up all my grapes.

Speaker 1:

All right.

Speaker 4:

Why every time I come in the kitchen, you in the kitchen.

Speaker 1:

In the goddamn fridge. Man Eat up all the food, all the chicks, all the.

Speaker 4:

I like pee and feet.

Speaker 3:

The leader. When he talked about the cow on the plane, he said he was going to eat him too.

Speaker 1:

Try to get some cereal and you trying to, we ain't got no milk. You put some water on the front of your head.

Speaker 4:

Hey, so if I'm a black, who you say would be your favorite character?

Speaker 3:

You know I'm going to say Smokey.

Speaker 5:

Bro, bro, who else, though? There's some other good characters. Pop stuff up there.

Speaker 1:

Man. To be honest, I would let Smokey be my wingman, because he that's a lot, because.

Speaker 5:

We all got a friend that's like smoke. Let's be real.

Speaker 1:

That's the man.

Speaker 5:

That's either always, hey everybody.

Speaker 2:

Smokey is taking a shit, I ain't going to tell nobody else.

Speaker 5:

Always up to some noticing, always want something I supposed to be doing. And then every time that you got to rely on them to have your back. Always some bullshit.

Speaker 4:

The first one was so iconic, bro, it was so hilarious. Every scene it's a quarter ball.

Speaker 3:

It is, it is, oh yeah, you'll never get over it. Put your glasses back on.

Speaker 1:

Exactly.

Speaker 4:

Exactly.

Speaker 1:

You know what I want to talk about.

Speaker 2:

Y'all want to talk about that one scene to where Hal. Reddong got his fight stolen. Oh, man Listen.

Speaker 1:

It was that moment where they were just playing Dice and whatnot and Smokey was like I want to pay me my money and D-roll was like what money I was like.

Speaker 2:

I lost.

Speaker 1:

And then Redd, he was going to bet his bike or whatnot on this game and he lost. And wait, no, no, it was more like D-Bo stole Redd's bike. And then he rolled up with his dad to try to get the bike back and he was not going scared and shit. So D-Bo just crept up on him and then he was like, hey, so you know my pops and you get my bike back. And then D-Bo was like, oh, it's right over here, I give you a bike back, no problem, he's right over here. And then he turned around like, oh man, I knew he was going to be cool. But then next thing, you know, everybody was smoking with Pigtas head up at the perfect time. He watched D-Bo come out nowhere and shit uppercut the motherfuckers away.

Speaker 2:

He was flying in the alley. Oh damn, you got to not go, fuck out.

Speaker 4:

That punch takes the life out of motherfucking.

Speaker 3:

That punch there.

Speaker 1:

Hey guys, hey listen, One punch. And then his dad got out of the car and then people were like, oh, what's up this old man? You're like no.

Speaker 3:

I don't know why you come around and miss him. That punch was the first to suck out.

Speaker 5:

He didn't mean to do.

Speaker 1:

These nice people.

Speaker 4:

Hey, the wingman, the wingman shit in it too is good, bro. My boy was like I was like hey, I got a girl for you. Hey, she said she looked like Janet Jackson.

Speaker 1:

Oh no.

Speaker 2:

She looked like Freddy Jackson.

Speaker 1:

So like I'm like, why you?

Speaker 2:

doing like this.

Speaker 4:

I thought Craig was cheating on her. She was cheating.

Speaker 1:

It was a dude in the bad way. Yeah, oh. So it's cool when you do it. It's the problem when I do it.

Speaker 5:

But I just don't want to talk about it. Yeah, he's talking about like that.

Speaker 4:

I was like oh, you remember the beginning of the movie, let's let's look at the beginning of the movie, though. Craig lost his job. Is that still in the box?

Speaker 1:

Right, like bro, I'm like today years old, real, I don't use it.

Speaker 3:

well that's, I should have known, but bro man, right right on his day off it's cuz, he's black and they thought I'm in the same color racism basically good lord you can't know no regular.

Speaker 5:

No, I always was, I always worked out always. But then you know also one of having like a moral in the story to where one of you know finally had a final fight scene between Craig and Debo. It was like you know pops had that whole speech. He said y'all always so quick, pull out a gun now, like a man at the time was released a lot of the hood classics and shit.

Speaker 4:

They was like really dark and serious and they glamorize a lot of game culture and shit. But Friday was, it was a light heart, it was take on like how you live it in the projects. But you just, you know, I mean, you just live in your life. It's hardships, all that shit. Right, that fight at the end with Debo bro, it had a good message it's about settling your disputes with your face, not with guns, and you go home alive, bro, even though you in the hood, my boy, you know, I don't know, I mean one thing I always say.

Speaker 5:

I used to always debate, like, if you ever go with like hand-to-hand with Debo, didn't they like really break your neck and shit like what you really don't know?

Speaker 1:

I'm just saying like, take about this, think why is it like this kingpin from Marvel, the? Fact that this dude he's big and strong enough to literally kill somebody with bare hands. So I'm just saying I don't know. Sometimes your bare hands all you need to put someone out permanently kingpin had hands, brother, that's just real.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, but that's kingpin, I'm just saying it really pains on me but I'm just saying like, if you're strong, you know.

Speaker 1:

But I'm like that's why some post on as strong as they are.

Speaker 5:

They avoid fighting because they know how we feel their hands can be me like how little he's not allowed to be in any type of fight because his hands are registered actual, like fucking dangerous. Yeah, not because he can't do it, but because it's a hot chance other people not for to come out alive you think those hands.

Speaker 4:

Thank you, man. I'm mad without that. I see somebody do that in a meme.

Speaker 5:

It had a rub in their hands doing too much but no it's like first movie, definitely iconic, fantastic right, so I got something else for the first movie, or?

Speaker 1:

I got, I got, I got my.

Speaker 3:

Well, go ahead favorite scenes from the first Friday is when they broke in a room right to get the money back from Debo and oh, y'all were with this underwear, up with his, with his, with his straw, put a straw back in the cup and Debo snipped the straw one time and he was like hold on, what was that? Then he snipped it again and looked around to make sure nobody was watching or to see if it was somebody in the room, then went back to sleep. How do you not get up at the smell in a straw? And it smells like shit, right?

Speaker 1:

you know your smell that's really why he beat the lethal it was awesome like you, and also because they actually stole the money out of his wall and she thought he thought he cheated, because you know she'd be like yeah, she'd be gonna judge it you know, because you know something always to say yeah, always. You know, bro, what you want, bar my car.

Speaker 3:

Hell, my life is crazy. That bar, as some might a bar, they hold appliance a yo.

Speaker 4:

I'm trying to buy. Felicia is iconic bro. That's a e-connit, definitely.

Speaker 1:

You know I'm in there you know, what also iconic, and I know we're not gonna fly by this first movie without mentioning her.

Speaker 4:

Oh, miss Parker, miss Park me when you gonna let me fuck this park when I was watching.

Speaker 1:

Friday for the first time when on smokey was saying she needs some young me, I'm like I feel that, bro, I feel that I mean, I mean she's you like. No, I'll be like that one dude from all hold you like.

Speaker 1:

I can fix that, but not for real though. I know it's gonna be a little jumping towards the third movie, but as far as, like, see, normally I don't play that whole celebrity crush thing, but man Donna in that third movie, shit yeah, I wouldn't know how that when she approached me I'm like I'll be too busy blushing it's. Yeah, I'm like, hey yo, what you fucking with me. But anyways, what else we want to talk about? Oh yeah, let's go ahead and talk about all crepe girlfriend joy and how crazy she was with you know she like what one of y'all was saying it was, either took a coke, got to. What's talking about? Oh yeah, she was cheating. We mean, while on kind of accusing Craig of cheating meanwhile, that'd be it all the time in yeah the whole time because you know you cheated.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, you want to say something about the team?

Speaker 1:

and the funny thing is, um, I know these actresses probably just got um hired on for like for the one time, but it's crazy how like Craig would have this different love interest every movie, and the last one is never even mentioned. Like they don't even mention fucking Debbie or um, what's her face in the second movie? I forgot I remember talking to talk about next Friday, but still though, it's like it's kind of crazy how, like Greg, which is going through the girls for real, who?

Speaker 4:

the one from Friday the next though, but she yeah, that's what I was talking about.

Speaker 3:

No, you know who I was talking about.

Speaker 4:

Last Friday, bubble come on, we get to that also called a candy.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, we got to talk about the store scene to where, like I, can't get jiggy with this slip and fall no, no, not, not in next Friday, but in the first.

Speaker 4:

Friday oh, the first, yeah, oh yeah like my back my back.

Speaker 3:

We can settle it right now.

Speaker 1:

I need 150 thousand. I don't like man. You don't get your ass up the floor. It's not even wet over here.

Speaker 4:

How much do you say we can settle it for?

Speaker 1:

like $20 or yeah, or like $20 yeah bro, cheap ass boy cracky back supposed to be bad.

Speaker 3:

All he wanted $20 and $40. Walk out the store and get in the car like he was cool with Craig. It was smoky. Yeah, that's that stuff yeah, oh hell.

Speaker 1:

No see, that's the funny thing. You like sometimes don't ever have that. Well, I'm not gonna say any names, but you ever had that one friend where you just money on business out and about. Next you know they spot you and like, oh, here, this thing is right here oh yeah, it's powerful nigga dream alright, what else we got for Friday?

Speaker 1:

honestly, man, I don't want the only one we got was the fact that the pastor on burning by burning Mac's, where essentially he was on, he saw Pat Miss Parker and tried to sneak in over and you know team and I'm.

Speaker 4:

Mr Parker's back now but that little person came out of that right oh my god, that's a lady, that's, that's a fucking good that was funny, and especially when smoking Craig was smoking up while all that shit was happening.

Speaker 1:

Like bro, that sound like a good Friday. Be seen some shit like that while on blazed up he says let me get that your blood ah, you didn't put in on this.

Speaker 1:

I think she needs to see for the fans yeah alright, so that was pretty much for the first Friday and that's pretty much on good. You know. It all wrapped up eventually to where smokey cells is dead on, with big worm telling he's not gonna sell drugs anymore and go again to rehab. But then he smokes and joins and look at the camera saying like I was just bullshitting man that movey ended. I can't even tell hell yeah, and moving on to next Friday moving on, how old was?

Speaker 4:

Craig supposed to be yes, there, all right, so next Friday I got a question, though I know we've been to go to next Friday that black and white shirt Craig had on. I think everybody had one of those flannel black and white shirts though.

Speaker 3:

I got one.

Speaker 1:

I almost did, yeah, I got a red and black yeah, that's about saying like I have a plan on sure, but not red, black and white, like that well, everybody had that shirt that I mean hold on. To be fair, it was 90s, was grunge, like pretty much a lot of people have plan also it was it was appropriate for the times yeah, and a black t-shirt with the chain combo, oh yeah oh yeah, red finally got that team by two months on. D-boo got knocked out you got.

Speaker 4:

You got to tuck your chain in a tuck chain yeah, got hot all that jewelry and shit man, I thought D-Boo wouldn't see it.

Speaker 1:

Yo, he's going Jack Now. He'll probably dig in those pockets.

Speaker 3:

With a big-ass state knife, not even a steak knife. I don't know what kind of knife. It wasn't a butcher knife. It was like a David Bowie knife. He used to ride around with that shit. Just have it on. No gun a knife.

Speaker 5:

Living it if you really like living the projects. When you deal with a lot of crackheads and shit, to be honest, you really just gotta be prepared to shank anybody like you just, especially if you live like that hard.

Speaker 1:

You know what? Don't have much of a choice you know a diva, run me up, even though this example is like a Small or size, like not saying that he's not weak, he's strong, but like he's not as tall as the evil. He reminds me of Lorenzo from lottery ticket to where he was, like this Next generation thoughts where he doesn't even really need a gun to intimidate people.

Speaker 4:

Oh my god.

Speaker 1:

So we review that movie at some point also.

Speaker 4:

Dead. He'll be back. Yeah, I know it'll be back.

Speaker 1:

All right, y'all ready for next Friday.

Speaker 3:

Yep.

Speaker 1:

All right. So after finding out, deebo escape prison to get revenge on Craig. Uh, mr Jones decided that it would be safe for Craig to move to Rancho Cucamonga To live with his uncle L Roy and his cousin Dade. So Dade shows Craig around the house in neighborhood. Dade explains to Craig that after weighing the lottery, all the taxes and fees were taken out and only left them enough With to buy the house and Dade's car. So a notice arrives of forming them that their house could be facing Re possession because you know the tax and fees on the lottery. That's what they don't tell you about. When you win the lottery, it's like you find out later on how much we have to owe and then whatever is left over, that's what you really want. So be careful when you win, I'll play that lottery. Ladies, let that be a lesson learned Later on.

Speaker 1:

Craig business day at work at the record shop. Pinkies, of course, of course. And Dade is hiding from his um Girlfriend s girlfriend, whatever the one, and his sister, baby D. Oh listen, listen, this chick, he is this man's car. And then baby D showing up Trying to chase this man, check it down that fucking record store hours. Like you're gonna catch me like you Didn't know about all the new snacks.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, I'm trying to hook on Craig up with on baby D and Craig was like, no, what's not debe challenges either.

Speaker 5:

Absolutely. So anyways but you can tell what type of person like he like that attention that he was getting.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and speaking of which, while Day Day was getting chased down by his girlfriend and whatnot, we have the Joker's and their sister. Oh, I'm still getting their name. Carla, that was her name.

Speaker 5:

Baby Joker was like I mean fuck, oh man, love them in that movie. It was just a look at it baby.

Speaker 4:

You hit the corners to got there fast. You need to sell this motherfucker down here. Instead, I'm gonna spend my day $200 suit $200.

Speaker 1:

Man yeah, look, no cap. I have a suit in my closet right now that costs more than that.

Speaker 5:

Oh yeah, bro, Dude, I work. Oh, dude, the job that I work at right now, I regularly unpackage eight hundred dollars, what you understand. The suit is not eight hundred dollars, Just the blazer is eight hundred dollars. The pants still cost three hundred dollars and the shirt is four fifty Damn I just, I just quoted next Friday, the other day to my daughter.

Speaker 2:

She didn't understand because she's not seeing us right now.

Speaker 4:

I said she had a lot of room, though, bro, she had the audacity to lock her room, though I said no more locked doors, grassy, no more locked doors. She looked at me like I'm crazy, but she understood.

Speaker 1:

But I was working doors. You know I'm in jail, man Locked door.

Speaker 4:

I'm in crazy money party with 150s. Big ass titties.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean get in between those titties Fuck, let's party. You made the right decision. My boy, that money Look, look, look look, listen you will not. The money's not going anywhere. Like you can have fun.

Speaker 4:

Speaker 1:

Speaker 4:

Speaker 1:

Look, hey, man, listen when I need to talk about auntie sugar oh, she can't get all over.

Speaker 5:

Pray every single opportunity she has. If I was, cream.

Speaker 3:

I would have told me.

Speaker 4:

Oh oh. Oh God, oh God.

Speaker 1:

No, she was like looking at Greg, like I can teach you some things. I'm like you got to teach me Because you seen that room, you seen that bedroom. I'm like amen, thinking about my having experience going on. You know what it is.

Speaker 4:

It's Mr Nasty, time Mr Nasty.

Speaker 1:

Time.

Speaker 5:

And I'm like wait. But you know what? I appreciate the fact that they had a very hip healthy sexual relationship.

Speaker 2:

They did.

Speaker 5:

Can't say that about a lot of people.

Speaker 3:

They were asleep in the middle of the day when they got fired. That's that's. That's my relationship.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I fired, again. See, you worked it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he was just hanging around, it was not.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, oh what's the rules?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, he never works there, he was just hanging around Roach.

Speaker 4:

Didn't work there right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, roach didn't work there. Oh yeah, he said this is fine.

Speaker 4:

He said you five too. What do I do, bro? I never even thought of those cranes. No, hold on.

Speaker 1:

I got to talk about my favorite scene at next Friday before y'all steal my thunder the part when, while they didn't really just hanging out in the back on smoking up, of course Craig would just hang it out in the front and then, well, really, he was going to go to the bathroom but Pinky stopped him and then he's like back up real slow and I was like little motherfucking thought he can rob me. You don't know who I am. I'm Pinky nigga Now who sent you and I was like nobody sent me.

Speaker 3:

I was like I'm gonna turn around in circles when he gets upset, he's gonna say that Fuck the fuck word.

Speaker 4:

It's over. I'm not playing with you.

Speaker 3:

Oh, I was talking about how Pinky get mad and stomp around in small circles.

Speaker 4:

My hair was greasy.

Speaker 1:

No, don't let that, jerry Crow. Let your so glow, take shit.

Speaker 5:

Yes, bro, yes, look, understanding bad part about, about the permanent understanding still, he was still a cheap.

Speaker 1:

No, the funny part is, after all, that he was like that nigga scared me by hell. My own book, that all like that should tell you right there.

Speaker 4:

My favorite library. I was like I was like no, I heard that said.

Speaker 1:

You know, oh rich I. Like a yo real quick. Who was the better?

Speaker 4:

I Did.

Speaker 1:

I'm just curious. Let me just put that out there right now, while it's on my mom, before I forget. I'm like we just put it to bed right now. Man, oh, you know what to say? That for Friday at the neck All right. So what else on Friday at the neck?

Speaker 3:

Oh, I got one. Yeah funny ass part of this next Friday when Uncle Willie, when Craig daddy in Elroy went to go rescue them from the from the baby Joker them house and had to jump the fence oh.

Speaker 1:

Roy tried to hop over the fence and all that he broke. Here's back. And then Joker went out there like what, though fuck? And then he helped me. I've lost something, my mind.

Speaker 4:

Oh.

Speaker 5:

The system was afraid the joke is good. It was like now, this crazy no but that's the thing.

Speaker 1:

That's the thing. It's like what daddy said.

Speaker 4:

He beat up Dita and he called Bro, pop pop is iconic in that movie to burn, he's like what's that smell? He's talking about his own brother, bruh. He's talking about you can't even count a ten and you win the lottery. Ain't that a bitch?

Speaker 5:

I Understand the fact that, like all of my great scenes, but pops is like doing nothing but constant trying to find Craig. He's like I'm gonna come a crack, I'm coming, and he'll be that whole time. He's just doing the whole trip Trying to go rescue Craig and he has trying to take it to take the shit.

Speaker 1:

And then he ran the family frying. Sound like I'm not stepping on mud.

Speaker 4:

Bro, he said. He said that's for Sachi, you stepping on, you don't even know how to spell for Sachi. Yes, I do.

Speaker 2:

Sachi Sachi.

Speaker 4:

F-O.

Speaker 2:

Sachi Sachi.

Speaker 1:

Sachi Sachi.

Speaker 5:

All right and look so Tom and Mike made it already earlier on, so we all just gonna bring it up right now to, since we're towards the end of next Friday. Anyway, I can't give you you with this shit. I want you to understand, as that one scene alone yes, let's talk about that dude Set him up to being a wild adult. To literally be in multiple seasons of wildin' out.

Speaker 1:

Hey, yo hold on, hold on, hold on.

Speaker 2:

I'm an Aztec warrior.

Speaker 1:

No, listen, listen. Have y'all seen Michael Black's and Master P in that? One independent film Repose.

Speaker 5:

I actually had not seen it, but I heard it was Prefile.

Speaker 1:

Bro, it is funny. Look it up on YouTube, look it up on YouTube and just look up Repose on YouTube. I think Thouful movies are all made from clips.

Speaker 4:

Oh my God, repose is so fucking funny bro.

Speaker 1:

Yes, you know, you know what's up what's up.

Speaker 4:

He was like damn, he was like uh.

Speaker 1:

He was one of the Repo men he was trying to.

Speaker 4:

he was coffee from um, yeah, yeah, he had said damn well, he said damn, he had an iconic line in there. Shit too, what, what's getting on in there shit?

Speaker 1:

No, it was Master P and I don't know.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, that Repo and all the cars and shit. And he said oh damn Damn, I know that fucking quote. Hold up let me think. Oh yeah. He said I'm DUD, I'm dead, DUD, dead Bro. That ain't Friday bro. He said I gotta get this money by tomorrow. I was like you can say your B-mode, then they, like I can do what, say your mama calling, I ain't setting my car for bro.

Speaker 3:

Bro, we little bruh Look.

Speaker 5:

I like how they're like a fucking like highest hell white guy in the ring. He's like, yes, you still kind of white. No time to credit. Like I don't know if I can smoke with this nigga. Like you don't smoke around everybody, bro. You try to have like you gotta have like comfortability, because when you high you be saying some shit, you start doing some shit.

Speaker 5:

You need to like, you need some people you can trust because you don't want to be high and be knocked the fuck out and all times are crazy because, like you all know, there's like being around a bunch of white they always talking about it. There's like a bunch of black people get drunk. I might do some stupid shit but whatever. But if you run a bunch of white people and they get drunk, all of a sudden you got like a toilet on your face.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, you know if you get like droids all over your face and shit. They taking videos of them, teabag in your face and you just sitting here like you have no idea that nothing, shit happened. Hell, nah, bruh.

Speaker 1:

You're having people on tracks.

Speaker 2:

I'm no fine condom.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, if you is so fucking high that you wake up to a condom in your ass and you get in there, honestly, I don't think you was out.

Speaker 2:

You start doing drugs. You started doing drugs.

Speaker 3:

Like what the fuck? Slow down it's life right.

Speaker 2:

What type of shit you that have.

Speaker 5:

They're a late-steel shit with all types of fucking nonsense. Bruh, they're late-steel shit with crap Like why the hell is you out of it? Why your ass getting?

Speaker 2:

fucked up like that no.

Speaker 1:

Bruh. Nah, some do be waking up with fucking dresses on. I don't like how the fuck.

Speaker 5:

I'm not gonna let this go. You just said like wake up with a condom in your head. Oh my God, what the fuck. Why tell us not on at this moment what the fuck is happening to?

Speaker 2:

be here.

Speaker 5:

You thought this was gonna be cut, saying some nonsense.

Speaker 4:

I'm saying I'm saying Damn. I was telling you bro, oh my God, he's gonna have to run this shit back.

Speaker 1:

Nah, that's the thing I'm the secret miss. You don't know when I'm on a strike.

Speaker 4:

Put some hot sauce on my burrito baby, yeah, very good. Mr Police, may help me. Help me please.

Speaker 5:

Fucking big joggers just sitting here, like always, had the beanie over his eyes, having this head up looking down on motherfuckers all the time.

Speaker 1:

I mean it's bad enough. Like bro, like I, can I? Just how are you have no choice but to look up at me, boy?

Speaker 5:

You about to break his neck trying to look down on people all the time.

Speaker 5:

But I will say so, one of the things obviously in this movie as great as it is, it does like it was one of the things that a lot of people really was still kind of talked about, the fact that we obviously miss Smokey. And it's understandable because, in fact, you know, chris took by that by that point he had already, like you know, fully immersed himself in the Christianity, really wanted to try to completely change himself, especially, you know, after things was going on. Michael Jackson, he was just, like you know, that's his close friend, like they were, like absolute best friends, were going trips together all the time. Oh my, God.

Speaker 5:

And remember also, he wound up starting to build like good relations with Jackie Chan and shit too.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, from this hour.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, so with all of that, like he wound up backing out from Friday, from the Friday franchise because he was trying to like, read, like, change up his life and be a little bit more stuff. And I can understand on that, because the same thing happened with Kels to from like King and Kels Like because the same thing, that kind of happened to that like he'll wind up fully immersed in himself in the Christian and fully, most immersed himself into the church and kind of changed up a lot of stuff too. And one of the things that we miss Smokey. So it was like they've been really nice to have Smokey. But you know, respect, understand that you kind of change up stuff, they try to change your life, what they believe to be for the better and stuff. So I could play, understand, but damn, smokey was in this little man.

Speaker 1:

It's kind of shame that Chris, I could kind of reply. Well, not kind of, but he did recline decline, my bad decline showing up as so. He said he was approached to return a smokey but decline. This was covered up in Craig's opening their racing with state that smokey checked into rehab one month ago. So it's more of a canonical excuse to not include him in this.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, it's kind of how they just wrote it up.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

We got anything else for next Friday.

Speaker 1:

Nothing, we are right. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the part where we make this review technically well, officially, but it's one of three holiday specials, with Friday after that, man.

Speaker 2:

Oh my.

Speaker 1:

But I'll be honest with y'all Friday after next is the one I've seen the most, because, man, it was really fucking good when that's through your walls. Yo, please, let me at least get through this. Amen, I'm right there with you.

Speaker 5:

The fucking thing is Santa.

Speaker 1:

Anyways, on an early morning of Christmas Eve, a Robert disguised as Santa Claus break into Craig and data's apartment create, tries to lend them off. While making a failed frantic calls to a sleeping day. They but they did was like clocked out, all he was just dreaming about on what he wants from Santa Claus, and you know, santa Claus Anyways. So Craig and data on Dan followed police report with officers a whole and be the. And then, after the police leave, craig and data are confronted by their land lady, miss pearly, oh my God.

Speaker 1:

And then there's a lady who warns them that if they do not pay their overdue rent by the end of the day she will be victim and send her son Damon a new release at Convict, who developed Homosexual tendencies, and prison After them.

Speaker 1:

So, no, I like the part where they do was like you bringing that your son's effect. Oh, you know, you know this was a product of his time, because you know we can't really say that word anymore, but that's what he said. I'm just quoting what he said. Anyways, craig and data then start their birthday jobs as top play security.

Speaker 4:

The world, not just the city the world.

Speaker 1:

Hey, it's a little.

Speaker 4:

A damn snitch. You know what happens.

Speaker 3:

My heaping hotel, somebody right now.

Speaker 1:

You know what? There you go. I was like a damn snitch.

Speaker 4:

You know what happens to the last kid garden. He didn't even know what happened to the last kid tomorrow. No, you don't.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and then Moli, he got sucked down by on those dudes and Moli Moli, don't I like you.

Speaker 3:

You get one free fan card.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's so good.

Speaker 4:

That barbecue tastes so good Make you want to stop your mom. Hey, that was messed up. Hey, mama, what?

Speaker 2:

the hell. You want Mama bro.

Speaker 4:

He's never seen that. It's mama bro.

Speaker 1:

On TV. It was a commercial, so everybody.

Speaker 4:

Oh, my God bro.

Speaker 1:

Bro's barbecue.

Speaker 4:

Jones barbecue and flip.

Speaker 3:

Oh, my God.

Speaker 5:

Did you know that they actually, like some people, actually recreated these actual iconic restaurants in real life too?

Speaker 4:

I know, you know where you can actually look it up.

Speaker 5:

They actually did make a holy Moli donut shop.

Speaker 4:

Oh, my God.

Speaker 1:

Wait, hold on. Did they make an actual shop called Pimps and Hoes? I?

Speaker 5:

think so, but I don't think it was able to properly go through, because you know that name.

Speaker 1:

Well, fair enough.

Speaker 5:

Hold on, I'm gonna look, because I'm gonna look it up real quick because it actually is. I'm gonna look it up real quick, but go ahead.

Speaker 1:

All right, so where was I? Oh yeah, so the shopping center also home of the barbecue rib breast run pros barbecue co. Owned by Willie and Elroy. Shortly after they come on duty, the power goes to day days head and he begins hassling some carolers, forcing credit keep them in line like how he was trying to hit up these women in the car.

Speaker 1:

Hey man, you give me the number or you gotta get the fuck about it here, and the two and Elroy were then robbed by the same robber from their apartment who gets away. And then, funny enough, police came. They found on saying to police officer that they filed the report on and told them everything. And then the two, police officer and Moli was just laughing their ass off at them for getting robbed by Santa Claus on Christmas Eve and twice in one day.

Speaker 4:

No police officers was no shit bro, oh yeah.

Speaker 2:

Oh yes.

Speaker 5:

No, actually. So apparently the shop in the movie was actually based on. The real donut shop is actually Randy's donuts, but they have a phrase holy moly donut shop that they use. It's actually in Keely and texts.

Speaker 3:

Hmm.

Speaker 1:

Okay, okay, the more you know, but no but no the police officer.

Speaker 5:

Why do you? Always have the same thing yeah, we are Like always, always. But then that's the thing about it. To like you have like the two lazy officers that don't shit. That's usually when you take your funny like. There's other movies that have that too. We have like don't ever do a fucking job, Even like I think the one I'm most thinking about right now is what gravity falls on a fucking Disney. Yeah, two fucking forest, the two Rangers that was supposed to be out there. He's shit.

Speaker 1:

Oh, what about the cops from the Simpsons?

Speaker 5:

Yep, Same thing too. There's a thing there's like there's always lazy ass cops, so it's like always, you know, but them cops will always be like they'll pretend to arrest somebody just because they just wanted to. Honestly, I think they just like touching on people. I think that's really what it was.

Speaker 3:

And they told the police, the cops from right at the next. I just thought about it, true.

Speaker 1:

True, they did, anyways, the two of Craig and Day. They didn't meet Donna and her pimp, money Mike, who runs the Pledgings shop, pimple hose Soon after a couple of drug addicts tried to shoplift from money Mike store. But Craig and Day, they cast them and turned them over to the police. Might offer them a cash reward, but before that he came out rolling with that razor blade and he was like gonna ready to cut them up and all that shit.

Speaker 4:

Oh yeah, Kat Williams did his thing in that move.

Speaker 5:

Kat Williams. I calling is a mother fucking that move Hip now hip, now hip in distress.

Speaker 3:

I am a boy. I was gonna keep drunk and watch the video. Donna Yo, check in that phone pilot. I do that every day. Somebody asked me what.

Speaker 1:

I was playing.

Speaker 3:

I said let me check my phone. Pilot Looks like I'm free.

Speaker 1:

Listen, listen, don't be sorry, be careful, Lord Jesus.

Speaker 4:

I use that all the time.

Speaker 1:

Use your eyes. They're not supposed to be hands.

Speaker 5:

I don't do this for play. I don't do this for coins. My wife uses that shit all the time. She said that shit to our kids. She's like I'm sorry, don't be sorry, be careful. She always turns around and gets the same look every single time and I'm just sitting here like I'm not trying to put shit on that bro.

Speaker 2:

Help money, mike man.

Speaker 5:

If you had to have pimp name slipped back in the bulldozer?

Speaker 4:

Oh, cause it's been money Mike man yes you do have to say your pimp name part.

Speaker 3:

The whole title Like a trial call.

Speaker 4:

Oh my God, before we go any further, we gotta put that on the docket, bro. Oh my God.

Speaker 3:

The bulldog event. Wait hold on yes.

Speaker 1:

Wait, hold on. We already did boonders, are we talking?

Speaker 4:

about redux. What? When did we do that? A while ago.

Speaker 1:

It was a while ago we got the redux then bro oh my fucking God.

Speaker 5:

I mean we can, yeah, cause the thing about it is that everybody wasn't available for it. It was like you and me and, I think, like one of the person, so it was like this is a while ago Bro every episode can be a freaking pocket, but I understand Bro.

Speaker 4:

Bro, I got to, I got to, we work on it and I thought to myself how the nigga gonna borrow a french fry, what you gonna give it back to me, nigga. Oh my God, I'm gonna be honest with you. No.

Speaker 5:

Friday after next to me, was not my favorite of the series. Like actually it was my least favorite. Just being honest, it wasn't great. It just that. To me specifically, it wasn't until, like you know, pimp Money Mike showed up. That's when shit really started getting interesting. That's when, like things really started kind of flowing a little bit. Otherwise, like there was kind of he served the purpose of moving the plot along, cause outside of him it was.

Speaker 5:

It didn't feel like the movie was going to be a big deal. It was. It didn't feel like the movie was really gonna go nowhere, just another little couple of nonsense, cause, like the first movie, it was just a bunch of random nonsense that all collided together into one big hot ass mess. The second movie was kind of about the same, but you know, they still kind of had a little bit of a golden mind but they're still kind of just moving forward. But as far as this movie, it was like it needed to have some type of like push forward for the movie.

Speaker 5:

I think that's one of the reasons why it was like, okay, this wasn't as good. It's still. Obviously you can watch it and enjoy the movie Absolutely. But it was one of those things like I missed when there was a bunch of nonsense that matched together into one kind of thing Like it was multiple different stories to everybody was important to something from a fashion Like it. Eventually everything was important, like in the first movie you had when Debots stole the bike. That became a point later on Getting some feedback from you.

Speaker 5:

I realized I'm not entirely sure why, because I'm I haven't changed anything, but maybe it's because I'm loud, I'm bringing down something. I'm sorry, but it was still one of those things where it was like like every little thing was seemed important, like wind up, coming up not necessarily important later, but it was like it affected something that happened, like it was a little bit of a butterfly thing and it doesn't feel like that really happened into this movie. It was like Till Money Mike came in and they had to like figure out what they were trying to do. They had to figure out how to get their rip money. They had to figure out how to get Christmas tree back.

Speaker 5:

Nobody ever caught Black Santa, matter of fact, they almost did and then literally let the nigga go. Yeah the fuck. And he still just went out stealing other people's shit.

Speaker 4:

The nutcracker. I agree. I agree with what you guys do Like everything in it. Everything he said was true. I think next Friday, out of the three, was probably my favorite, just because so many quotables the first one in and of itself had the most quotables, but just for like all intensive purposes storyline plot, things like that Next Friday probably was the best one overall for me. Yeah, friday was great, though I mean all of them are great. The next Friday is probably the best one for me as far as all phases of, like you know, movies.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, friday after the next is probably my favorite For the simple fact of all the characters that they have, that they had that bounced off from Friday after next. So, like other stuff, like bone dogs, because you know Miss Pearly is also part of the hateocracy she did help me, she did, because they have her as the only hate woman.

Speaker 5:

And that's one of the things about it too, cause, like I know, like I haven't done critical reviews with you, say, tom Black, one of the things about this is that you know me and JB, we agreed on the phrase of watching. Once for enjoying it, watch it. Second, for criticism. I said watch it.

Speaker 1:

No, we can't let you fly with that one, my boy.

Speaker 5:

But no, it's like you're watching the second time for criticism. The thing about it is that I rate things on like a scale of three main. Three main things characters, writing, and then like the flow and story in itself and so putting into that you're right, Like the characters were immaculate. Those characters are so iconic they're being brought, they're obviously brought into a bunch of other things. Obviously, we mentioned boondocks specifically, but that's just the biggest thing into it was the characters as far as like in the plot point of it you had a point.

Speaker 1:

The structure was kind of in hindsight.

Speaker 5:

Like. The thing about it is that towards the beginning of the first Friday movie, you understood that it was absolutely pay off. There was no real structure, it was just making it. The point of the movie was to make it to the end of the day, like all of this happened in one day.

Speaker 1:

It's Friday, true, I mean you could hear that's how all the Friday movie started, but it was more like Friday after. Next was the most, the most it was like that's a whole lot of shit. It was just thrown in just to capture lightning in the bottle. Three times where I'm like when y'all were saying which one of your favorites? I'm going to be honest with you, I'm with suck on this one. Next Friday would be my favorite, for so for so Listen listen, listen, listen.

Speaker 1:

Nothing against the first Friday. First Friday was great, obviously, but it was just something about next Friday to it, from the comedic beats, it was like it was never really a dull moment. With next Friday and also at least with the way they did the movie, to where there was an A plot and there was a B plot, to where, you know, there was Craig and Dey doing their thing and then there's Mr Jones trying to race towards Craig to, you know, trying to help out Craig, and all that stuff. To where the structure was more there. Meanwhile, with the first one it was more like we're just experimenting, we just trying something out. It was like next Friday was the refined product, without trying to give away too much, trying to get too much towards it Okay, I understand that.

Speaker 1:

So I would say, next Friday probably.

Speaker 4:

It was prime, prime time. Characters make a break all the movies. The goal is what have an iconic character that can branch off into something else. Similarly to how, like you know, how we just mentioned, from the Pimp Chronicles from Cat Williams, to becoming a Pimp in the movie, to eventually being the Pimp in the Boondocks. Similarly like I don't know, like let's just look at all that, the characters from all that branching off to make like Good Burger or I don't know.

Speaker 1:

It's a host of different things that you could look at the Amanda, so Drake and Jaws, you can't mess with us.

Speaker 4:

Or the Chris Rock on the stage doing something and then come out with a movie for Poo-D-Tang stuff like that. Characters make a break stuff, especially if they become iconic enough to get their own standalone movie Right.

Speaker 1:

And sometimes we got some heavy hitters coming in before Friday so they don't really need that much exposure afterwards. It's like but yeah you're right, friday pretty much was the breakout role for a lot of those actors.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, not going on and the breakout role for the series itself too, because it was also one, like you know, we had. Like you know, Mike Epps.

Speaker 1:

to be honest, we do Now we're talking about because, to be honest, we would never heard of Mike Epps until next Friday. That was really his breakout moment.

Speaker 5:

Now I will say Mike Epps actually still was an upcoming comedian. He was doing like a lot of other stuff into it. He has acknowledged the fact that Friday was kind of a big thing into him. Now granted he doesn't, it wasn't. It didn't help him out as far as movies wise, because we still had that and then we had all about the Benjamins for him afterwards, and so as far as movie wise, it wasn't too much. That was there into it Now granted, I will say he's doing.

Speaker 5:

I think, if I'm correct, he's part of a he's on a TV series. I think it's still acting, still airing right now too.

Speaker 4:

Love song yeah.

Speaker 3:

I think like this Gubbery too, rebuilding houses and shit with his wife.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, Really yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

That's pretty cool.

Speaker 5:

But as far as like into like movies, it wasn't like the biggest breakout for him into that one but it still had a great chance to showcase his comedy. A great chance of doing like different things and stuff.

Speaker 5:

But like you had also mentioned as well, jb, like you know, the first Friday movie we wanted to be kind of an experiment into that and then the second one is like they took the first one and then, like to say, refind it. Like they took all the good aspects from the first one and then added a little bit more and that's what allowed it to keep going.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and the father, the father figure stuff from that show too, If you look at John Witherspoon moving over to the Wayne's Brothers and then it's like you can feel that these actors have chemistry on the set and probably going to be like different kind of what Craig and, you know, ice Cube and Mike Kieps and Chris Tucker have, like they're still keeping touch. I want to say I believe so. I want to say like they got good synergy together to where that's why the magic of the movie were, to where it's like they can bounce off each other's energy and all that shit.

Speaker 4:

And they need to have one more movie, bro, Last Friday for the culture, please they actually planned on it.

Speaker 5:

That's the thing. Ice Cube actually did plan on it. But you can't get everybody to agree to a yes to it. Right, he actually did want to do a movie. I think it was actually supposed to be called Last Friday, but it was just wasn't able to go through. But I will say also one thing as well I still find this really funny in this aspect, because they make jokes about this all the time and Boondaw says made a whole episode about this character, about this particular person who absolutely hates the Friday franchise. Oh yeah.

Speaker 3:

Ice Cube and all these babies.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, here's the thing though, but for real though like it's one of those things is like, like you had mentioned earlier, jet Black. I really wanted to revisit it because it's an important thing to mention is the fact that before Friday came out, most black movies even though it had comedy into it, was extremely dark, like that was what became most popular. There were black movies that were more comedic. Like you know, before then we had there was Shaq, not Shaq, hold on.

Speaker 5:

It was one with Michael Jai White where he was black dynamite. That's what we were, right? Oh yeah, we had movies with black dynamite. We had Dolomite. You had those comedy movies that had to be extra raw for people to enjoy them, because if you just try to make a black comedy, it wasn't hitting. You either had to be an extremely raunchy comedy or you had to be one that was really dark and serious that highlighted all the negative shit. That's that happens in the hood, but it's not always negative.

Speaker 1:

What about Undercover Brother?

Speaker 5:

Yeah, undercover Brother. Oh my God, this is a good movie. Yeah, undercover Brother was good too, but hold on.

Speaker 1:

Did not care for that sequel though.

Speaker 5:

No Well, undercover Brother. The only reason I can't put that into this one is because this is a whole lot of white into it. The whole movie is about making fun of black people. Okay, you want a movie that's just about black people and the lives that black people deal with and you can have still a good time in the hood. It's a bunch of nonsense, that always happens, but you try to have a good time.

Speaker 1:

Hold up the Barber Shop trilogy.

Speaker 5:

Oh yeah, Barber Shop came after.

Speaker 4:

Rosa Parks and Do Nothing but Sit Up Like A.

Speaker 5:

Man With A Dark Eye. Yeah, that's right. It's not what the comedy should be. It's not what it should be. Bro, like not everybody likes watching the end. I'm going to be honest with you.

Speaker 1:

I hate the end. I think you gave it away. I Know, listen, listen, I'm gonna be honest with you. Those stage plays, the first back, like I want to say, like the first five, six of them, yeah, like the really old ones. Those were funny to me, but then the more they did it I'm like, yeah, somebody always selling drugs, somebody's always, oh, holding themselves. All insane shit.

Speaker 4:

I used to get on.

Speaker 5:

I'm trying to say that you should do the exact same shit. We used to do this. I used to be over at your house, oh, oh, man bro. But no, it's like it's just one of those things is like you can enjoy the series, like just watch it and enjoy it. But I think that's also one of the things that wanted to start to happen too is because so the first one was just nothing but black people in the hood like this is the shit that happens, obviously. You know we wanted to be getting spoof movies minutes to society. I hope we talk about that move Dimension South Central.

Speaker 4:

I drink your juice in the hood.

Speaker 5:

Hey, yes, every but remember, every single one is a playoff of every single black movie like that's. It's made before this, so it's like but um, so you want to have us.

Speaker 5:

But no, it's like oh, it's a great series that you can enjoy and you can watch and just have fun. But I think that's probably the only thing. The other thing that kind of hit me onto the third movie too is that you know the first one we had black fun. The second one was like okay, now we kind of moving up a little bit. You know, we got introduced to a white person, we got introduced to a spanish people, we got a chance to be like, you know, there's still other people, that kind of no deal of other type of stuff too. So we moved up from like low what would be considered low class, to middle class.

Speaker 5:

And then it's like the third one I probably expected Make not necessarily go high class, because the way the second movie ended unless they won the lottery again and Decided to actually invest their money like smart and shit and it'll be in the high class Well, you know that wasn't gonna happen. It's just like it didn't feel like, okay, where else are we gonna go? And that's what kind of hitting the third one. I think even ice cube even mentioned as well that he wasn't fully into the writing in the third movie, but he had already kind of signed a contract into it, so it was just like gonna go ahead and get it anyway. But I think he did actually white interview by had, during the interview, one of saying that he wasn't like all into the writing Until it as well too. It was like some stuff just kind of seemed off and there was a lot that was going on at the time too.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4:

Just as a quote above from don't be a mistress, I'll drink here. Just Every time I'm looking at somebody or seeing somebody feeling out of job application, I'll be thinking the same thing. Six hell yeah. I'm like bro, I'm like damn. I just think about how you feel. Not their job application. It's crazy. That's how iconic it is, my these movies, these court classes.

Speaker 1:

Indeed. Oh oh quick thing. Did y'all know that in 2007 MTV had a Friday animated series?

Speaker 2:

mm-hmm.

Speaker 1:

Yeah so yeah, so there was like eight episodes where it was like a retelling of the first movie but different circumstances. Like I think it was more like oh man, like I don't think it happened the same day, but it was like kind of based off like the same premise of the first movie to where it was okay, it was like Craig smokey, mr and Mrs Jones, a new character, big Mary Deebo Ezel, so it was like centered around the first one, but there was like a whole bunch of shit like how Craig it kicks out the house to get until gets a job. He was sleep on the streets. He got arrested for kidnapping a white girl. Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa. Like a whole bunch of shit Just happening in this one.

Speaker 5:

So check it out whenever you get the chance. But also keeping my own to this too. I skewed wasn't as much into this one, bro. Like Matter of fact, I'm correct here. I don't think he even voiced His character, even though the character design.

Speaker 1:

You're right he didn't. It was curry paint that voices here.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, so it was a whole different voice for both, for both Craig and smokey. So it's like and it's almost like a almost in a completely new cast for the animated series, that none of the original cast is in this at all whatsoever. To be honest, I thought it was okay, but I didn't. Really I Can't say I enjoyed it, so yeah.

Speaker 1:

You know how the barbershop trilogy had like a sister sequel, like it's not really a sequel to the barbershop, but it was like a sister sequel Beauty shop. Yeah, I remember that, okay.

Speaker 5:

I do.

Speaker 1:

Talk about how Friday kind of sort of had a sister sequel, even though I don't think that was the intention, but in a way I want to say technically counts as a sister sequel. Can we talk about next Sunday with ice-cream and Tracy Morgan?

Speaker 4:

Oh yeah, it's raining white women oh.

Speaker 1:

No, you're thinking Norby.

Speaker 5:

I will never. I will never forget Cat Williams as the motherfucking choir director. I want you to understand my mom. So my mom's past. Yes, they tried to rob church. So my mom was, when she hers, like first Sunday, and she was like, oh, like my mom's a pastor. So she was thinking, oh, it's a comedy movie, you like.

Speaker 5:

You know she's like okay, she did not watch the preview what's so ever? So she literally went to, she went and got this movie. We didn't go see the theater, she went and got it, got the DVD and brought it home. It was like, hey, let's watch this and I'm like okay, and then this was not at all.

Speaker 4:

What did she laugh?

Speaker 1:

Next Sunday. My bad, it was called first Sunday.

Speaker 4:

Oh yeah, Like it was yes, she did.

Speaker 5:

She laughed at some parts. This so far she just can't use it's like this is too stupid. This is not what I thought.

Speaker 1:

Let me look at the time like okay, never mind, right after Ned came out in 2002, first Sunday came out in 2000.

Speaker 5:

Yes, so next Friday and Barbershop came out the same year. Vice Cuban wrote both those groups around the same time.

Speaker 4:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, it was I cute cat Williams, Ricky smiley and Clifton Powell, who all started in Friday after Nick that came onto this film, so technically Is this counts as a sister sequel to me.

Speaker 5:

Oh yeah, but I want you to understand that this movie, like first Sunday, was rated horribly.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Tomatoes. It got well, percent based on his reviews, yes.

Speaker 5:

But he's that Google. Google says 73% actually liked it.

Speaker 1:

I mean that's probably what the audience scores like. Most people liked it, but the critics probably did. They said that first Sunday May have had its heart in his right place, but his funny bone was dislocated.

Speaker 5:

If y'all want to watch first Sunday, guess what it's gonna air this Sunday at 1 a, at 1 am and at 4 pm on VH1.

Speaker 1:

Oh, okay, oh.

Speaker 5:

What's your mistake? Even my wife said you smoking in the creak, you smoking that powder, bro, you need to chill out. We need to chill out the Talos and I rip you a new one yet Look the way I'm about to start a petition.

Speaker 4:

We need to bring this show back, no.

Speaker 3:

I said flavor flavors of 20 year old raccoon. But you know he was saying in the national anthem Love.

Speaker 5:

You know what's the funniest thing? I want this. We go ahead and bring this up because I need to get off. But I need to go ahead and mention this, it's this. So, first off, no, he's not gonna come back. You know how cancel culture is on this. So he wound up. He went back in 1991. He pleaded guilty to assaulting his, his girlfriend at times, karen Ross. He wanted to lose in custody of his children and one of fallen to addiction. Not gonna lie him back. What's the weather? Yep, yep, I was back in 1991, but you know, cancel culture is not gonna lie him back now at all. What's the weather?

Speaker 1:

Not when they like to like dig into your path and all that like yeah.

Speaker 4:

I mean they let us live for Rick, for Chris Brown, but you know.

Speaker 1:

I mean, that's where the after dark like I got, but that's for after yeah.

Speaker 5:

But you know it's also reason that he do. You know why it is that he wears a clock.

Speaker 4:

It's time is important. Oh, so he can tell the time. Oh my god.

Speaker 1:

So he can't always tell people, you know it's time to stay ahead of the game.

Speaker 5:

You said. It's reminds back when he was younger crackhead pulled up to his neighborhood one day, tried to sell him and his crew some big shower clocks that she had swiped from the store. It's kind of a remembrance into the crackhead kind of.

Speaker 1:

You and your goddamn Fun facts. This one of those things where I could have gone the rest of my life never knowing that. Every time I look at that clock now I'm like so that crackhead still living your head? Rent free.

Speaker 5:

So there look, going a little bit further into it, the fact that it was one of his homeboys was laughing and took off the Um, yeah, put that, took one of the clocks, put it on a chain, put it around his neck and everybody laughed at that was funny. So he was like I'm just gonna keep this iconic cuz it keeps everyone funny. But then you know it was. He remembers it specifically also because of the crackhead that happens One of the state. He literally not kid you. Nice little one of the things where Somebody did something and they thought it was funny and he based his entire life off that. One shit changes life. The joke.

Speaker 1:

That's like those ordinary stories, to where you just internalizing, just making your whole identity. At that point is where, like I'm just watching this one podcast where, oh, one, the coast, one, the whole thing, that, um, this one time this one lady was telling me at my 13th birthday party that, oh, now that you're 13 years old, it's time for you to grow up. And then he just eternalized that and was forever more FESL. Shout out to coston crendor everybody on, check out their podcasts on YouTube. But, yeah, I can't get that. You look weird. Yeah, um, anything else. They on Friday after next.

Speaker 5:

Friday after next not really out of tuck, if you want to go ahead and mention Tuck was able to pull up that Ice Cube actually had wrote two scripts for last Friday. It still has not been fully confirmed but he is actually trying to get chris tucker back into the movie. But apparently he wants to add dc young flattie.

Speaker 4:

Oh, this took a greed that he wouldn't do it unless dc young flowers in it playing his son or something to that effect.

Speaker 1:

I get that. Oh, what they try to get. Oh, ice cubes. Um son oh.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I think him and dc young flowers be best friends or something in the movie that'll help extend it to a Sequel or a spin-off series likely for the future.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, yeah, that could probably work. Boy, can you? Just be one of those things like craig. I finally had a kid no years later. It's been years, technically been. It's been well enough time.

Speaker 4:

So yeah, that'll build up. Who created young baby mom is too. That'll be a plot for the movie. Yeah, I think to my, to my own, um Per predictable script. They can actually rewrite it and, uh, have them all come together for pop.

Speaker 3:

Oh man, so that's a big cheer.

Speaker 5:

But I will. But I will say oh, there's one thing that's definitely still going to be a kind of a big issue Uh, because he's also wanted I guess he was from, if I'm looking at this picture right yeah, I am that he's wanted to have kevin heart in it as well. But the problem is, kevin heart and cat williams do not get along Like at all. Cat williams does not like kevin heart.

Speaker 3:

He said he wrote me, broke again.

Speaker 5:

He had said that on multiple cases. He said it on wild and out like multiple times into it. He didn't even had tried to make it. They tried to like do so many different jokes into it. But no, he was very specific. He does not like kevin heart whatsoever, so trying to have both of them in the same movie, man.

Speaker 5:

It might be that moment where it was like I think it was like uh, party beat and Nicki Minaj at one point, like had such a major beat and there's a song that has both of them. But what they wanted to do was is that they have to literally film the music video twice. I don't know why I can see it back again, but, um, they had to film the music video twice and actually had to separate them because of the fact that they have so much Beats with each other that I'm like if you have to do that with the movie, I don't know how to work out.

Speaker 4:

It'll be like having 50 cent in job rule in the same Setting why it just won't work.

Speaker 1:

Whoo. It'll be like Bow Wow and little Romeo.

Speaker 5:

I.

Speaker 1:

Know, I know I was just saying, but you remember when, um, that was like one of main beats back in the day, yeah, hey bro, the funniest thing I seen was when, uh, they said 50 cent.

Speaker 4:

Can you say something nice about jar rule? Well, he's still alive.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, I'll never forget how petty 50 is and the fact that he bought out an entire show. This is the entire stage. A jar rule, bro.

Speaker 4:

So you wouldn't have nobody in the audience.

Speaker 5:

I mean the thing about is dude still got his money's been saved with like, still just like, nope, nobody.

Speaker 4:

Where everybody at it's just my boy thought it was gonna be a pack stage.

Speaker 5:

That's actually all the time that I have. I don't have anything else for these movies. Uh, I know I'm pretty much several pieces of cash. I we definitely have fun. I know I gotta go ahead and get off.

Speaker 1:

Man, I'm sorry, um, because I was thinking with the little time we had. I would think about a lightning round of nerdy news. You got more shit you want to talk about just one thing because, um, as far as the movies were done, but it's like unrelated, but I just, I just have to, we just gotta say because Because then this just came out today got you cogears coming back.

Speaker 4:

New information on december 18th all hell, loose King of britain bro we were just saying that um well, um, we should talk about cogears at one point.

Speaker 1:

What a surprise that on the same day, they make an announcement that new information on the new season recapture of z will be coming out on December 6th, and we will find out more about this.

Speaker 5:

Yes we're actually really curious because, like the because image that you shared there, literally has loose on him. But the loose is dead. My nigga like how he's supposed to come back. What's?

Speaker 4:

going on, are we breaking time? You know, do some.

Speaker 5:

I don't know.

Speaker 4:

You know my doubt.

Speaker 5:

I think he really did want to die, but you know, no, he wanted he wanted nix to thank you.

Speaker 1:

But honestly I'm pretty much done with the trilogy. I'm pretty sure everybody else is done. Uh, I would say each film deserves at least a four point. Four stars out of five for me. But as Nostalgic, as a certified hood classic, as a whole, I give it a five stars. So Definitely go to it, especially monthly black music. Please watch it if you haven't already like it is really funny, I swear to god.

Speaker 1:

And with that being said, if everybody else don't have anything to say, we'll go ahead and close it out. Thank y'all for listening to us brante and ramblin till the end. We got links attached in the episode description, of course. And remember To stay nerdy, my friends, and may the nostalgia never die. Test the season to be jolly and take it easy everybody.

Speaker 2:
